Hello,

After I installed a piece of hardware which increased the length/strength of my wireless connection, and turned on my computer the next day, I loaded both Internet Explorer 11 and Mozilla Firefox, but both would not load webpages with a "http://" before the "www."; they would only load webpages with a "https://" before the "www.". This problem has persistently occurred despite me resetting both browsers to factory settings. I have looked at previous solutions to this problem, but none of them seem to work (I tried resetting my cookies and that didn't work, as well as made sure that cookies on both browsers were enabled, and that didn't work either), for me at least.

I would really appreciate it if you could give me a speedy solution to this problem as this problem affects my most commonly used webpages.

Thanks and Kind Regards.

P.S. My internet does work and I tried troubleshooting it, but no problems popped up with it.

You can check the HTTP request and response headers with the Live Http Headers extension.

Try to reset (power on/off) the router.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Symptoms of your problem are most probably pointing to a connection/connection-hardware fault.

You must know that a hardware such you used cannot make a change in browser settings but only settings of the network.

The fact that only secured connections(https) are being processed further is probably a network's fault not a browser specific fault.

Some possible reasons:

1. Software is blocking your connection(Firewall, Antiviruses) 2. Proxy server is not forwarding to WAN for non-secured connections 3. Your Wireless device is blocking non-secured connections

Solutions:

1. Try disabling all antiviruses and firewalls including windows specific. 2. Try resetting network connections and check for proxy servers. 3. Login to your router configuration and check for firewall, blocked connections or similar specific settings.

If still problems occur try with your previous device and if that is working, Reach for your new device support or contact the manufacturer.

HI ironman0870, Thank you for the details, I would be scratching my head. It is possible in the meantime to plug into an ethernet cable in order to access the internet. If this works and you can connect to pages this way, it may be something with the configuration of the wireless and the strengthener. Did it come with instructions on how to forward the connection?
