I changed my mind and want to save a password
I asked Mozilla NOT TO SAVE a PASSWORD several times, and now I want to save the password for my email account. I've DELETED the site from my SAVED PASSWORDS page. There is nothing in my EXCEPTIONS PAGE stored either. So, I go to that email page & when asked to save the password, I say YES. It saves it in the list, but does not automatically populate when I wish to LOG IN to my email page. I wind up TYPING it every time, and I've realized it is time consuming. PLEASE TELL ME how I can FIX this problem. Kind Regards, Chris

Could you try the Permissions Manager: in a new tab, type or paste about:permissions in the address bar and press Enter. Firefox will scan through your settings files for permission settings. While it's loading, you can use the search box above the list in the left column to filter down to your mail site.
Click your mail site in the left column and on the right, adjust the "Store Passwords" permission from Block to Allow.
If you return to your mail site in another tab and log in again, does Firefox offer to remember the password?
By the way, if you haven't set a master password to protect your stored passwords, you might want to do that. This article has more info on that: Use a Primary Password to protect stored logins and passwords.
The website might be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from filling form data like name and password automatically.
Firefox won't auto-fill saved form data automatically when autocomplete=off is used and you need to start typing the name to get a drop-down list.
You can check that in the Inspector via the right-click context menu.
I have other passwords being saved regularly.
This is different, because I didn't think I wanted to save the password for this particular site. SO, I kept saying "don't save". After you do that several times, Mozilla recognizes that you DO NOT want it saved and removes it from the auto-populate fields where you sign in. You can still see it on the list, but it doesn't not populate to the SIGN ON window of Yahoo. So, I removed it from the LIST. Then, when I sign on, it asks me if I wish to SAVE it, and I say YES. So, it saves it to the all over again...... BUT, it still will not auto-populate when I try and LOG IN again to Yahoo. Since I now log in several times a day to email, it is time consuming to enter my email address and password every time.
To clarify: I do start typing, but it still does not populate the name or password for this ONE site that I chose NOT to save in the past. I have other Yahoo logins, and they work fine. Just the ONE that I chose not to save in the past, is the problem. OTHERS are having the same problem also. Seems like a GLITCH in the system perhaps? Kind Regards, Chris

Did you try to type the first two or three letters and then press the down arrow?

When I start typing, It populates the NAME, but does not populate the Password. As an example: I have another Yahoo account, and it works fine....... because I NEVER CHOSE the DO NOT SAVE option with that email address. This has to do with "choosing the DO NOT SAVE" option several times, and now I can't reverse it.
To get the password you may need to use the Tab key to go to the password field. If that doesn't work then Firefox isn't using the Password Manager, but is using saved form data that only stores the user name field.
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
When I read the replies attempting to help, I realize I am not making this problem CLEAR. So, with regard to saving passwords on Mozilla, the system saves ALL my user names and passwords correctly for the websites that I use and have said YES I want Mozilla to SAVE this User name & password on the security tab of Mozilla. I can to to this page and see the LIST in the system under OPTIONS & SECURITY TAB. My user names and passwords are all there. NOW, THE PROBLEM: There is one account that I told Mozilla NOT to save several times. The user name & password showed in the list, however, when I went to log in, they would not populate automatically (even though they were still in the Security TAB data. So, when I originally asked how to reverse this, someone replied and said I needed to REMOVE it from the LIST. I did that. Now, when I logged back in, it asked me if i wanted to save the data again, and I said YES. But when I go to that website again, and start typing my user name (it does populate) however the password does not auto fill like it does for all my other sites. Yet, it is SAVED on Mozilla and should work just like my other sites work. It seems to me that it is a GLITCH, because the password shows saved in with all my other sites on Mozilla/Options/Security Tab page/saved passwords page. How can I FIX this problem? Thanks Again,
Did you verify that only one name/password combination is saved for that website?
The website might also be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from filling form data like name and password automatically. In such a case you will have to type the first letter(s) until you get the drop-down list. You can check that in the Inspector.
Mozilla says: Password for these sites are stored on your computer. My user name and password are both there. So, I start typing my user name, and it then populates in that box. However, the password does NOT populate at all. Not by tabbing to that box, Nor by beginning to type the password itself. I have to type the whole PW and then hit enter. I know it has worked in the past, but not since I asked Mozilla NOT to SAVE it several times. Can this be undone?
Did you ever try the "Forget about this site" option mentioned by cor-el in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1055843#answer-714158? That clears stored data about the site that is not exposed anywhere in the user interface. If nothing else is working, you may need to use it.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to use this extension if you haven't done this yet (I suggested this above) to see if there is a problem with the field.

IDEA: Why not make a software CHANGE, that allows users to simple change their mind, and switch back to SAVING a user name & password in Mozilla that will populate when the user logs in? It's worth asking for right? :-)))
You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
- Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
- Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
- Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab
Password exceptions also show on the about:permissions page.
