Is that a program you installed, or came with the computer?

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

I have adobe already as i keep it up to date as well as i have Malwarebytes and AVG anti virus but the Hidden window still does not get picked up and this junk also uses my Ram memory so i have to re=boot way to much please can someone help me out.

Some ad / mal-ware can hid from anti-virus scans. Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

Rick, do you have any particular reason to believe that this is something that's related to firefox? because we won't be able to help you with general windows issues here - you could ask your question in other dedicated forums like http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ thank you for your understanding!

I just happen to think Firefox members are the smartest of the bunch and i have been a Firefox user since it started so if you please Philipp you are listed as a moderator but i think you are someone that does not like to help people that have problems. At any rate this just showed up in the last few weeks and since i use Firefox i am guessing that it came over Firefox .I am holding my tongue this time Phil but i will not hold it again .if you do not have anything to Contribute to this problem refrain from your comments.I really do not care who you are period i am asking the members for help not you.HM I am really holding my tongue back as i do not like to curse on open forums but sometimes people think they are god when they are not and sometime they are to big for there pants.

Hi Rick, I wouldn't be volunteering my Sunday morning to reply here if I didn't love technical puzzles of all kinds, but please recognize that volunteers here have a full plate of crashes, lost tabs/bookmarks/passwords, inability to logon, and other Firefox-specific problems that we prioritize over general questions.

Firefox takes anywhere from several seconds to a minute to clean up its settings files and fully exit, so if you are shutting down Windows without first exiting Firefox and allowing for that, Window may be trying to close down some Firefox process prematurely.

There are some Windows utilities to explore visible and hidden windows. You might want to research a trustworthy one and run it after you have closed all running programs to see what is still in memory at that point. Unfortunately, it's been so long since I've used Windows XP that I don't remember what I would have used back in the day.

That is not true, believe me even if you don't known me at all, Philipp is one of the most dedicated contributor in this forum, and always help everyone, and i'm not Philipp's minion, just a user you try to help(when he knows something) and nothing more. I think maybe you misunderstood Philipp's answer. we are just volunteering our time. I'm not willing to continue that conversation. I wish you to solve your problem.

thank you :-)

I understand that you all are Volunteers I am asking this because the last update of firefox left me with this problem so it most certianly does pertain to firefox okay now on with the problem at hand i know alot of you no longer use XP but i can tell you this there are still more XPs out there then any other op system which includes windows 7,8,9,and 10 put together and i have searched on both google and yahoo and there are the same question i have asked on there with really no darn answer so i decided to come to the horses that are in the no ,I also contacted windows but they ,because i do use Firefox have no answer, so i am hoping that this site will work on it .I do not need people that send me to other sites this happened when Firefox updated me do you now understand this. I do wish and want to Thank all of you that has worked with me on this and other problems in the past. Thank you all. Your friend in Firefox Rick

Have you checked your Task Manager? Check each running program that is not Windows.

Start the Computer in Safe Mode. Is the problem still there?
