I have done all the procedures outlined to make sync work. I am still getting this error message. Like another user, mine started after the last upgrade. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks all for reading and any helpful advice. (Disable sync is NOT helpful.)

thanks, according to the log, sync is failing because there's one malformed bookmark which apparently breaks things. i'm not sure how it would be possible to identify the malformed one. one thing you could try is to go to the bookmarks library (ctrl+shift+b) > import & backup and there export your bookmarks as .html file and backup as .json once. you could then try to reimport from those backup sources again and see if this can address the issue...

hello, when you type about:sync-log into the address bar and open the latest one or two error logs, can you copy their contents and put them into http://pastebin.mozilla.org/ or a similar service and paste a link here on the forum? this would be very helpful in assessing the problem. thank you!

I think i have the same problem. Here is my sync log: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/8840500

Syncing only passwords is ok. Bookmarks seem to be the problem. I see a malformed_uri error in the sync log.

This seems to have fixed it:

  • Backed up all bookmarks
  • Disabled bookmark sync
  • Deleted all bookmarks
  • Enabled bookmark sync, and forced it to sync (and got no error)
  • Restored bookmaks from a few days ago, before they broke
  • Forced to sync again, and got no error

My bookmarks seemed to broke at the same time i "refreshed" my firefox to solve a previous issue.
