I want to use only windows instead of tabs and it doesn't change anything in Options when selecting "blah blah open in new window instead of tabs"
Because of my work I have to be free to set side by side images and for that I need only windows no tabs - some work resolutions does not work in tabs - I am going crazy trying to do that since all the options I have tried so far are null.

Hello,
You can use the Hide Tab Bar With One Tab add-on, it makes FIrefox works with only one tab in each window.

I had that add on and it didn't solve the problem. I cannot put two tabs side by side to compare slides. I hate to go back to IE but so far outside no longer supported Safari is the only answer. Thank you anyway.

Maybe look at extensions like these if it is only about images:
- Fox Splitter: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/fox-splitter/
- Split Pannel: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/split-pannel
thank you so much for your time answering. I have tried before but this is the problem, side by side, meaning exactly at the same magnification, the same color, blah, blah, blah.
I can do it in the Mac without mozilla, tbtw since upgrading has done nothing but crashing in the middle of something important, sigh.
What I need to do is just get into the belly of the beast and change the motor to destroy tags :) I am not even sure that is possible but it is the last hurrah before abandoning Firefox.

What that extension does is autohide the tab bar if there is only one tab open. It does not prevent the opening of more tabs.
Thank you so much, but everything we have tried so far is not working. We need to get completely rid of the tabs and work only with individual windows and that doesn't seem possible unless we flirt with programming, and we have neither the will nor the time to do that right now.
Thank you for taking the time to answer.

Maybe this extension?
- Toolbar Autohide: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/fullscreen-toolbar-hover/
Just right click a link and use the option to open in a new window.
If you open a group of links as tabs, for instance if opening a bookmarks folder just drag each tag down and it becomes a separate window
