Have you tried to update that Ubuntu build of Firefox thru the Ubuntu Program Repository?

Another question - how old is your Ubuntu operating system? You may need to update your operating system to be able to install the latest version of Firefox. http://ubuntuforums.org/ You may want to check with Ubuntu Support to find out if your operating system can handle newer versions of Firefox.

You don't have a Mozilla built version of Firefox installed. Extensions:

Global Menu Bar integration 4.1 (globalmenu@ubuntu.com)
   Troubleshooter 1.1a (troubleshooter@mozilla.org)
   Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 2.6 (ubufox@ubuntu.com)

You can always install the current release in a folder in your home directory.

Make sure that you meet the System Requirements (GTK+ and GLib) for the current Firefox version.
