I have been chatting in spcn (sparkpea) for years, but having been updated to windows 8.1 I am unable to use the room because I need a plug-in. I googled this but was completely baffeled by the hundreds of options that were on offer. Where do I find this plug in and HOW do I install it? I installed Mozilla thinking it would help - but it hasn't. This is really distressing me because at my age I can't afford to lose contact with all the friends I have around the world.

Hi BBarb,

Sorry to hear that you're having difficulties sorting out the plugin for SPCN.

From what I can see from the SPCN forums, you need to download and install the plugin from here: http://www.sparkpea.net/ffplugin.php

1) To download the plugin, click on "Click here to download and install the software".

2) A new window will pop up titled "Opening NPPGWrap.exe". Click on 'Save File' to download the installation file.

3) Retrieve the file and install. :)

That should fix everything in a few minutes for you. If you need any further assistance, just let me know!

All the best, Celeste

Thank you. I tried this, but all I get from the link is something called 'Lianja' to 'try for free' Is this really what you mean? It looks like something for building apps!

Hi BBarb,

The link I gave you in my last message will take you to the SPCN website. The attached screenshot shows you that the link is definitely not linked to Lianja. :)

You just need to click on the link and follow the installation steps. If you still have difficulties installing the plugin, please let me know what steps you are taking so that I might assist you further

Thanks!

I finally managed to get to the page you showed, thank you. I clicked on the link and it told me to restart and try again - so I did. Then it came up with something called NPPGWrap - so I clicked on that. So I got User Account Control - so I said to 'run' it and clicked all the boxes etc. Then it said Netscape Navigator is running. Close Netscape and click OKitalic text' I told you I am getting on a bit and don't understand computers (I'm not making excuses for being ultra thick) - so please please tell me - WHAT and WHERE is this Netscape Navigator and HOW on earth do I close it? Its not listed when I go to 'Add Remove' in the control panel. I blame windows 8.1. What a complete nightmare!

Hi BBarb,

Thanks for your reply.

As you are having difficulties with the installer, it is best that you contact the SPCN support team.

The error message that you received is related to their app, not Mozilla. SPCN just created a plug-in for their members who use Mozilla as their browser.

I'm sure SPCN will be able to fix any issues with the installation of their plug-in.

If you have any questions related to Mozilla, please feel free to ask for advice should you need it. :)

All the best, Celeste

I can't contact spcn Help .................... because I need this plug in! All I asked was 'how do I close Netscape?'

If this is the best you can do in the way of HELP then I'll remove Mozilla from my PC (at least I know how to do that!)

Hi Bbarb,

I explained in my last message why you need to have the issue troubleshooted by the SPCN support team.

The plug-in may have been designed to work with Mozilla Firefox, but as it was developed and is owned by SPCN, Mozilla has no way of troubleshooting the issue that you have reported during installation.

You may contact the SPCN support team via: http://www.sparkpea.net/contact.php

All the best, Celeste

Did you close Firefox before running the installer? "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Power button

  • Firefox/File > Exit
