The question sums up my needs. Where are "Previous Sessions" stored? I have backed up my "C" drive, My Documents, My Pictures, etc., so, I should be o.k. with bookmarks. But, I would also like to be able to access previous sessions.

The current session is stored in the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder. There are also backups in the sessionstore-backups folder that you can copy to the sessionstore.js file to make Firefox use this file.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Ok. Basically, from what I understand, you can only access 1 previous session with the Menu>History>Restore Previous Session. However, you can access all your history, which should be pretty similar, you would just have to open them all up. This can be done in Menu>History>Show All History, which will be at the bottom.

Hope this helps!!

Previous (Backup) Sessions are stored under Tools/Session Manager/Backup Sessions. Were are these Backup Sessions stored (on the hard drive) so that I can save/back them up to later 'install' them onto Windows 7 Pro after moving from Windows XP?

Hello Cor-El. Thank you! Your answer was almost 100%. The only difference is, all the backup sessions appear to be in the Sessions folder (in the Profile folder), with the 'current' session listed as 'autosave'. So, It would appear all I need to do is make sure the Profile folder is saved to an external HD and copy it forward after installing Windows 7 and Mozilla Firefox. Let me know if you agree or, if there is something else I should be doing. I tried uploading a screen shot of the file location but, Mozilla wouldn't accept the PDF upload!

Are you any relation to Jor-el? His son was really super!

A folder named Sessions with autosave files is created by an extension and not part of Firefox. You would have to install that extension to make Firefox use these files, so make a note of all the extensions.

Cor-el, I confused. I thought the sessions folder was accessed by Firefox for the previous sessions. If Firefox doesn't use the "previous sessions" files in the Sessions Folders, 1) where are the actual previous sessions files stored by Firefox? 2) if the sessions files are not part of Firefox, how were they created, and 3) what extension would be required for Firefox to be able to use the "autosaved" previous sessions? #3 brings us back to the #1 question - where does Firefox save previous sessions? My point here is, if we need to change the extension of the autosaved sessions to be able to use them, we would also need to know where to copy these file to! Bottom line appears to be: if we need to know the location of the actual previous sessions used by Firefox, then we would need neither the autosaved files nor the file extension in the first place. Let me know what you think.

Firefox only saves one session and that is the current session. There are only backups in the sessionstore-backups folder that allow to recover from issues with creating a sessionstore.js file.
