Why is Firefox 34.0 freezing?
After Firefox updated to 34.0, it suddenly started freezing up at inopportune times. Not always at the same point, nor at the same web site. I tried Google Chrome on the same sites Firefox would freeze and Chrome worked perfectly as did Internet Explorer 11. I also noted that it would only scroll part way then freeze, then scroll a bit more then freeze, so badly I could not view the page at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2875544/How-escape-Alcatraz-Researchers-reveal-1962-escapees-presumed-dead-freedom.html. I tried this same page on Chrome and it worked perfectly. I did not have this problem prior to the latest update. Please also note that Firefox 34.0 may work fine for a day or so then start the freezing again. I tried Safe mode and could not get the freeze problem to duplicate. But like I said, sometimes it works fine then others not. I will try to remember to run Problem Step Recorder the next time it starts freezing. I also installed Troubleshooter as per below. I just tried the above page link and recorded it with Problem Step Recorder. It froze up loading but then started working again. Previously, it would show a Not Repsonding message in the top bar of Firefox. It did not this time.

That is a very lengthy page, and contains some flash elements. That is why it worked in safe mode because addons like flash could be disabled or the plugin-container.
Lets try a simple test. close all Firefox windows. We will also need to make sure some support files are closed as well that relate to Firefox
open a cmd window ( you need to be admin ) and copy/paste the following, then press enter after each one, or if you are knowledgeable about bat files simply make one and drop the contents in it:
taskkill.exe /im plugin-container.exe /f
taskkill.exe /im firefox.exe /f
taskkill.exe /im iexplore.exe /f
taskkill.exe /im flash* /f
del C:\Windows\Prefetch\PLUGIN-CONTAINER*.pf
del C:\Windows\Prefetch\flashpl*.pf
del C:\Windows\Prefetch\firefox*.pf
del C:\Windows\Prefetch\PLUGIN-HANG*.pf
Relaunch Firefox and go to the page and see if the issue still exists, is it better or not, does it work for a while or not at all
Best regards
I created a batch file, f.bat, with the commands as you instructed. Here is the result:
C:\>f.bat
C:\>taskkill.exe /im plugin-container.exe /f ERROR: The process "plugin-container.exe" not found.
C:\>taskkill.exe /im firefox.exe /f ERROR: The process "firefox.exe" not found.

Also, it freezes at other times on other sites. This is just the only one I could reference because I have Firefox setup to clear cache on close. I have to close the referenced page because as long as it's open, Firefox will freeze for long moments, practically inoperable.
So the errors and could not find don't mean anything relevant other than the files and process don't exist, which is what i was looking for.
I assume you have the latest 16.X version of flash?
Thanks. I really appreciate the help.
I restarted Firefox and re-loaded the page and it still freezes. I also loaded it in Chrome and it is very sluggish, more like in slow motion, but it works. I also opened it in IE 11 and it works there like a breeze. I just refuse to use IE. I am a faithful Firefox user. I first installed Firefox 1.0PR on Friday, October 15, 2004, 5:47:04 PM.
Flash just updated today to 16.0.0.235.
NP, and you have any crash reports for us to look at?
so flash in plugins, and control panel uninstall program shows the same version as well?
it has been also suggested to try:
to disable OMTC and leave hardware acceleration in Firefox enabled.
about:config page: layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false
Where do I find the crash reports?
Control Panel and Plugins show same version.
about:config page: layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled = false No change. Still freezes.

Is there a way to remove 9.0.0.332? When I click on Update Now is shows blocked.
Did all the above. Loads and views fine in Safe Mode. Loads and views fine in Normal mode AFTER turning off Use Hardware Acceleration! Would this indicate I may have a hardware problem? Maybe my video adapter?
In any event, thank you all so very much for all the help! I do appreciate your time and efforts!

Go to http://www.adobe.com and check for updates.
Please follow these instructions. The data you posted is no good.

I'm sorry. I though I was doing exactly as you instructed. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. There are none with BP in front of the numbers. Maybe I am missing your meaning of mark. I used my mouse to highlight and copy them and paste them into the reply box. A screen shot of my about:crashes is attached. Maybe that will help.

You are still not paying attention. It says;
Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers, click it and select Submit.
I looked at the snip you posted. The first line is; bp-4ea4b21e-28b0-4cd5-9515-96f272141217
You see the BP in front of the numbers? Many of the other reports do not.
