Sometimes, not always, when I open a second or third tab, firefox closes for a few seconds with no error message or crash message , and then reopens all the tabs. I am running firefox 33.1.1, adblock plus, no script, and norton toolbar.

Firefox will automatically try to restore the tabs and windows from the last session if a crash has occurred or Firefox didn't close properly the previous time. If the session crashes another time then you will get the "Well this is embarrassing" page (about:sessionrestore) the next time you start Firefox. You can set the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes pref to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first start after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers, click it and select Submit.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

It might also be that Firefox did not close, but its window were removed from your display.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift (Mac Options) > key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
