"Marked"? How? Where?

No matter; Thunderbird doesn't modify messages or attach "spam" labels. It doesn't use the word "Spam". It doesn't put messages into a Spam folder either.

If the word "Spam" appears then look to your ISP or email provider. They are probably running a spam filter of their own.

When Thunderbird does see something it suspects, it adds a Junk icon to the message entry in the listing in the so-called Thread Pane (aka Inbox).

Well Outlook Express has never added spam in front of every message and it's not there on my phone where I can use OE. What about no pictures. OE asks if I want to show pictures and then if I want to show pictures from this sender every time. Thunderbird does't ask and doesn't show a lot of content as well as no pictures. I'm only using Thunderbird because i have Windows 8 and it doesn't support Outlook Express because they want you to use Google for everything. I assume most people that use it are in the same boat. And yes it does mark everything, even your response with SPAM.

Please post a screenshot demonstrating the spam labelling.

I don't think Microsoft want to you to use Google. They want you to use Microsoft. Such as Live Mail.

You mean Google and Microsoft aren't in cahoots? I forgot my Google password and had to change it and then I couldn't open my computer. Google/Windows changed the password on my Windows 8 computer. So I had to call Windows to figure out why my password was changed on my computer. They told me because I changed my password on my Google account and that I had to reset my computer to a stand alone setting to avoid being linked to my Google account. They said it would be better to not do that and not have a password on my computer. No Problem.

I repeat: Please post a screenshot demonstrating the spam labelling.

People I know who use Google generally do so as an alternative to Microsoft.

Google products are largely free. Microsoft products are largely rather expensive.

Screen shot? In front of every email, even if I send a picture to my self it has, "(SPAM)Zenos posted an answer to your question. (SPAM) You sent yourself a picture????????????????

That's not as big of a problem as no pictures. Everything looks like littte or big boxes with a little X in the corner instead of the picture or Title of the company or any kind graphics. Just blank boxes with little x's in the corner.

Forget it. i thought someone would say go to view or message and reset something, but I've tried all of that. It wasn't always that way. There use to be some color and pictures in emails, just the last month or so, none.

Thunderbird does NOT insert anything into the subject line, and specifically does not use the word "Spam". I am inviting you to prove me wrong with the help of a screenshot.

There are no adjustments in Thunderbird to cure this. Hence the absence of the allegedly simple fix you are asking for.

Someone else is doing the labelling and redacting the content. Your mail provider is the obvious suspect. Any local anti-malware or anti-spam software might also be to blame, but you seem reluctant to consider these possibilities.

more options

I am reluctant to check everything I've already done. Just stuck with a second rate email service and no professional help.

more options

No you are stuck with a lack of understanding of email basics.

Thunderbird is email client software that runs on YOUR computer.

It is not an email service. Email providers have email service and that is not Thunderbird.

You have been told a couple of times already that Thunderbird does not use the word Spam or modify the subject line in any way. Thunderbird uses the word Junk just for this reason and there are still people like you that cannot seem to comprehend that.

Email provider's spam filters and antivirus and antispam software do use the word spam and modify subject line but that has nothing to do with Thunderbird. You can continue to blame the wrong thing for your problem or listen to the advice given and try to solve it. Your choice.

[insults removed] It was under tools, filters, listed as Spam Assassin. When I disabled that in Thunderbird, it quit putting Spam in front of almost every email. [...] A good teacher guides their students through the steps, even if it was in Outlook Express settings, rather than belittle the person with the question.

[...] I still don't have any pictures on ads from, companies like Netflix, Roku, eBay like I get on my phone. Just empty boxes with a little x in the corner. I have a smart phone that uses Outlook Express that offers to show pictures and whether i always want to show picture from that site. PLEASE hELP. If you can't please, no insults.

So just like you were told it was 3rd party software and had nothing to do with Thunderbird.

Software anyone with anything but an inflated ego could have easily led my to. Please leave me alone. I said anybody but you.

In my emails. It doesn't show pictures or ask me to show pictures or other content. All I get is blank boxes with little x's in the the corner, like if you were trying to resrtict pictures. Thanks, Kevin

You do not even know what software you have installed on your computer. How do you expect anyone else to guess what you have installed. You were told by more than me that it was some other software and I even specifically stated anti spam software.

Now you are just making a fool of yourself.

Good luck with any future help.

Your the one who knows nothing about Thunderbird. All you had to say was. Go to you Thunderbird inbox. Under tools, go to filters, disable Spam Assassin. Done.

Spamassasin doesn't come for free. Someone somewhere has to be running it. Given the level of technical detail in descriptions given here, it would seem unlikely that you are running your own Spamassasin process.

The toggle you have found simply tells Thunderbird whether or not to use any headers inserted by Spamassasin. It doesn't actually turn the Spamassasin process off or on. So it is still running, and probably still redacting content.

Yet again, your ISP or email provider are who you need to go to.

You really have a Windows based phone that runs OE?

OE died with Windows XP.

I said it was a smart phone. It's a Droid Max. It runs OE perfectly. All I had to do was enter my email address. No spam assassin included. Shows pictures if you press request button. Then you have an option to always see pictures from that sender if you press that option. Your so focused on trying to be right that you haven't ever bothered with the QUESTIO OF WHY I GET NO PICTURES WITH MY THUNDERBIRD EMAIL. OR ANY OPTION TO SHOW PICTURES. DO YOU EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WINDOS 8?

Motorola's Droid Max is the best smart phone available, if you want a phone. I live 170 above the nearest cell tower. No other smart phone could even carry a call without dropping it. Not lost one phone through Verizon. Will also do anything any Samsung or iPhone will do, and actually be a phone.

No Outlook Express works fine on my phone + Windows 7. They must let anybody give advice

What has Windows 8 to do with it?

You have an Android phone that runs Microsoft Outlook Express?

Someone somewhere is passing your messages through some anti-spam software that inserts a Spam label. That same software is highly likely to be responsible for lost content.

Use ctrl+u to look at the raw data for one of your broken messages. There may be hints there as to what intervention has taken place.

What other Windows-based security measures are you running that you haven't thought to mention?
