I have a ZTE Open C, with Firefox OS 1.3.0. When I lock the screen it seems that after a while system turns off wifi connection... i notice that because i do not receive messages with OpenWapp (WhatsApp client).

When i unlock the screen, in the notification area appear the wifi icon blinkng (like when it tries to connect to an access point) and then i suddently receive hundreds of messages from OpenWapp.

Could you explain me why?

Thx in advance!

This is done on purpose to save battery life and to reduce data usage when WiFi is connected. There is currently no way to keep wifi on with the screen off. There should be a bug on file for sure. :)

This "feature" has the opposite effect of what it's designed for. To have wifi permanently on, we have to set that the screen stays on too. Which means consumption both for the WiFi and the screen.

If battery economy is what we're looking for, it would be better if we could choose the WiFi timeout independently of the screen timeout.

This bug is really annoying, is there a way to turn this "feature" off?

All i need is that my emails are downloaded automatically when i pass in front of the cafe, without having to look for the phone in my bag each time, so i can read my mails in the subway. I don't care about economizing battery, finding a plug is easier than finding wifi.

I don't know if that's the correct place to ask, but i'd like my WiFi to connect to any open WiFi available, not only the ones i have saved.

This feature is UNAVAILABLE at this moment. Our developers will implement this as time comes. I've escalated this thread to our Helpdesk team so they can provide further assistance with this.

To answer to your second post, it will not be possible to connect to any open WiFi. You may find an app that does so in the future. Keeping in mind that iOS and Android do not have this feature either. This is for security and safety reasons. Not all open WiFi connections are secure, nor can they all be trusted.
