I have Firefox 30.0. My new tab was just Google, now it is nine different web pages which probably represent my most used webpages. I don't like this setup. I just want Google each time I start a new tab.

I would also like to stop this page from being hijacked so regularly. It is incredibly annoying. How can I stop changes being made without my permission?

I've had about 5 different pages as my new page in the last two weeks. I've removed some programs from my computer, but it's still happening.

I tried to do the about:config thing, but the page that shows up (browser.newtab.url) says that it is the default of about:newtab

Can anyone please help.

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

The current default for the new tab page is the about:newtab page that shows by default 3x3 tiles with recently visited websites.

See also this article about the New Tab page (about:newtab):

You can set the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page to the preferred new tab page.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and you can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue

I am the opposite to Punkin1;

before updating to Firefox 33 I had 9 different windows on my New Tabs window, pretty much how I wanted it. (Usually Google (search) is the/one of my Homepage(s), just click the little house!).

Could someone please advise how to restore the New Tabs window back to how it was prior to updating Firefox? Or should I consider going back to the previous Firefox version?

Ta.
