How to disable new tab opening a link
When I open a new tab the tab always goes to a site that I don't want. (www.trovi.com/?gd=&ctid=CT3324790&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&ISID=M838640DB-EC73-4300-8602-7D1EEE4B1369&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=&Lay=1&UM=5&UP=SP73AABAE0-A6F2-4BD6-9FFA-3CAFCB010342) How do I disable the automatic re-direction when I open a new tab

Reset the browser.newtab.url pref.
- Go to about:config via your Address Bar
- Press the button saying you'll be careful
- Search for browser.newtab.url
- Right click -> Reset
- You might also want to check for any prefs Trovi has set. Search for trovi and reset all prefs (Right click -> Reset)
- You might have to restart Firefox for this to work.

I tried that. Doing a reset on this entry just puts the same url back in. I tried changing the value to blank but it would not take that either.
What do you mean with prevs> I searched about:confog for trovi but the only entry was browser.newtab.url

I had top re-start firefox and then the reset worked on newtab.url!
I have the same problem, which apparently came from downloading another browser to backup Firefox. I am NOT tech savvy. This seems to address my problem, but I don't know what or where the Address Bar is or how to get to about:config. Can you make it easy? (Please oh please!) Steve

The address bar is where you type in your url (example: www.mozilla.org)
Thank you. I was able to navigate as per the directions above, but to my aggravation, right clicking and it didn't work even when I re-started Firefox and re-started my computer. Is there something I can type in manually using 'change'?
Steveweeb,
I'm not sure what's going on. Are you click on the pref (browser.newtab.url) and clicking Reset on the context menu that pops up? See screenshot
