I keep getting notifications that the Wikipedia add on needs updated. I didn't know I have it. I don't want it . How do I make it stop?

Hi Andresc64, There is a Wikapedia Panel add on that shows up next to reading list when installed. In order to remove an add on you can go to:

  1. Tap in the url bar about:addons
  2. Tap on the title of the add on you wish to remove
  3. Tap remove.

Please post back with your results.

It looks like it's not even installed. I get a page that says Wikipedia by Margaret Leibovic. And then a big button below that that says "Add to Firefox"

hello, this looks a bit like you have the wikipedia webapp installed from the firefox market place - you can go into your system settings > apps menu to uninstall that...

That app is not listed as one I have installed. The notification shows up every night around midnight.

I've also run Airpush detector and got nothing. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the help!

Can I uninstall Firefox and still keep my bookmarks?

Hi, Currently there is not a way to export bookmarks on Firefox for Android, however there is an add on that syncs across browsers called Xmarks.

What is really strange about that notification is that is happens on a timer, like it is a setting with the Wikapedia webapp. Is there a notification setting How to remove an app In that it look like you got stuck between steps 4 and 45 for confirm that you want to install. IT is also possible to sign out of the webapps account by going to https://marketplace.firefox.com try signing out and the notification should go away.

How can I get rid of the Wikipedia web app? It's not listed in my apps.

If it is not on your homepage of the device it is possible to reinstall Firefox for Android, but this would make you loose all the stored data on the phone. I do not know, but a fresh install would tell if it is there and not showing up. You are right the notification is asking you to install it, so it is not actually installed.

There is an add on to copy the profile: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/andr.../copy-profile/ that may be of use if you would like to try this.
