i am on linux peppermint and chromium will not run anymore as a browser have tried reinstalling (dont want to reinstall all software on netbook ) and now use chrome however any links in emails want to use chromium - how do i change this?

Links in Thunderbird should open in your system's default browser. I'm not familiar with how to set the default browser on Linux, but usually each browser has a button to make itself the default, so you might be able to find that in Chrome's settings. Or check Google's help pages.
