with some changes with a default search for passkeys, I am no longer able to use thunderbird mail as is, as after spending three hours today, I was unable to add a 2nd account that has been accessed via gmail for a long time. I am wondering what other email problems other than thunderbird might have similar features,. as thunderbird has been rendered unusable by new code/passord, passkey requirements. I was looking at spark, but their interface is not as helpful. Thoughts! RIP Thunderbird mail, a long time friends, but time to move on, alas

When I click on a mailto: link on websites, it defaults to an old email address that I am phasing out. So every time I click on a mailto: link, TB opens a new email using the old email address, and I need to remember to click on the list of my email accounts and select a different one.

How can I change the email address that is the default?

I have an unfamiliar name on my Thunderbird account of g*******k@hughes.net (I do not know this account) and I am able to see the inbox of this email on my computer in Thunderbird. I have been working with Hughesnet as I was without email service since 11/17/25 and have just been able to now Receive emails since 11/25/25, but am unable to SEND outgoing emails. Hughesnet requested that I contact Mozilla support as to the outgoing email issue - and the unfamiliar name on my Thunderbird account. Please help with this situation. I'm just getting set up with Thunderbird. I used to use Postbox, and imported my Postbox profile into Thunderbird, which overall worked great – it got all my local email folders, and brought in my Apple email account, and so forth. The only wrinkle I've noticed so far is that it also created an account named "server7.invalid" that I can't delete. If I go to Account Settings, for "server7.invalid" it states "The following is a special account. There are no identities associated with it." The only items underneath it are "Spam Settings" and "Disk Space". There is no red Delete button for it, the way there is for my two real (IMAP) email accounts. Viewed on the Mail tab, it appears to contain only "Trash" and "Outbox", and both of those are empty. This weird invalid account doesn't seem to be doing any harm, but of course it is ugly and I just want it to go away. Help?

We have installed Thunderbird version 144.0.1 on a new computer. We successfully created one email account, but we are unable to add another one.

When we try to set up a new account by entering the name and email address and then clicking Continue, the process stops and does not go any further.

suddenly the Thunderbird cannot distinguish between info@zelec.se and info@stiernbrandt.com. It thinks they are the dsame and if I write the email address in the "Edit SMTP server" as info@zelec.se the same name appears in the account info@stiernbrandt.com. This is a very recent error. I saw todfay that this happen and then TH forbids me to send email from info@stierbrandt.com since it wrongly copies the into the info@zelec.

Hello, i have three PCs with installed Tunderbird. On one of them i want to add a new mail-account. If i follow the instruction here: [https://support.mozilla.org/de/kb/automatisch-konto-konfigurieren#thun...], it leads to an input mask (not a Tab!!!), where i can enter an account-name and the mail-address. Clicking on Continue some automatic search is started but never stops (=> screenshot).

As i tried to do it several times now and tried to find other solutions, red instruction etc., i write now. Also: Im not sure if it is a bug.

I already mentioned in the beginnig: I have three PCs here. I used one of the others compare, wehere it works as described in the documentation (not an input-mask, but a Tab). So the probem occurs only on this PC, not on the other. Systems: Not working on win11 Thunderbird 144.0.1 (64-Bit) Working on win10 Thunderbird 144.0.0esr (64-Bit)

Dobrý deň, mám dlhodobo problém s pridávaním nového emailu v thunderbirde. Pri nástupe nového zamestnanca vždy vytvorím nový email cez websupport, a následne email pridám do aplikácie thunderbirdu v počítači. Vždy to išlo bez problémov, ale teraz keď sa pokúšam pridať nový email, zadám názov a adresu, prebieha konfigurácia a ďalej nič nenačíta. Nechala som to konfigurovať aj hodinu, ale nič sa nestalo. Aktualizácia thunderbirdu je aktuálna.

I added a new email account, but didn't write down how to get its folder to be hidden so "Tunderbird" is the only folder that is shown in the left hand-side tree.

Restarting TB didn't help, and it's not obvious while going through the different settings.

2.Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the program, all previous data still remained. Did ask forum for help on 12/9/2025, and though there was some info on line to solve my problem, I was unable to understand it, or proposed solutions did not work.Tried now to log into mozilla account, but cannot find any section about any replies. As problem driving me crazy, will try again.

1 When emails come in, instead of the sender being shown in the from box, it gves me at pethen.riseup.net as the sender. 2 If i click on any link in the text of the email which I need to access, this function does not work. All that appears is the link text I click on gets surrounded by a text edit box (ie a thin square line with small boxes you can put an arrow on to change shape of box for editing 3 a yellow banner appears at the base of any email reading " a unique identity matching the from address was not found. + "the messagewill be sent using the current from field and settings from identity peter hendry<pethen@riseup.net> 4 My other emailaddress linked to my mozilla thunderbird client has no problems. This has to be such a simple problem relating to the account set up which for some reason my PC has taken into itself to change, either text in my address books do not match, or I have ticked a wrong bos in the setup, or not ticked one at all,

You keep changing things so much it is getting more a little aggravating to have to dismiss each. Today I had to figure out what was wrong with my login. I still don't know why it was no longer good and set up a new account which seems to be working.

I don't want to have to keep re-learning everything and having to reestablish all my information just be able to check my mail. I continue to get more and spam in my inbox because people trick you online into sigining up for daily posts etc. I especially don't like having to change my password so often because your system wants it. I don't. I just want a program that shows my email, not advertising from every idiot on the internet.

Please, keep the changes to a minimum. I seldom see any great difference from one version to another anyway. Wouldn't it be helpful not to have recreate Thunderbird all over again?
