A handful of mail subfolders have mysteriously converted to behave like DRAFTS folders. Their icons have changed from a folder to a doc page, the "folder" now sits atop the alphabetical listing instead of in the proper place within the alphabetical list of the subfolders, and all messages stored within now carry the designation "This is a draft message," even though all mail within these converted/perverted folders are copies of sent messages. I have made no changes to their properties leading up to these phantom conversions, nor have I made any changes to any mail account DRAFTS folders since I originally set up the various email accounts several years ago. These inadvertently converted folders are not listed as designated DRAFTS folders when I check the mailbox settings. But in the folder list, they have the same attributes as my designated DRAFTS folders. I double-checked to see if the phantom conversions can be sourced to my email accounts hosting platform but the folders are correct at that source. It seems to be a bug within Thunderbird. I wish it were simply a right-click/command-click on the folder to redesignate it as a storage folder...but I cannot diagnose the cause nor discern the solution.

Every time I start Thunderbird version 102.7.0 during the day I have to enter each accounts password. Or when TB recheck mail on a cycle of 10 minutes I have to do it again. The saved password table is all ways empty whether I say save password or not. I can only say this is a new bug because older versions you only had to log into user accounts with password only one time after the account was created and never again. The saved password table has no manual way to enter password into the saved password table. This needs to be corrected to the old method of doing things because this is such a pain that it will drive away TB user to use some other email reader.

I've just got a new Win 11 PC and have followed the method to transfer all the emails in my Local folders to the new PC. TBH I've tried many of the methods without success.
I've copied the folders from the relevant directory on the old Win 10 PC onto a USB. With TB closed on the new PC I've copied the folders from the USB to a new Folder in Local Folders directory.
When I open TB, of the ~7,500 emails I copy, only 282 appear
I've tried this many times now with no luck What am I doing wrong please?

I have two INBOXes A & B combined in a Smart INBOX. When composing a new message while in INBOX A, TB uses email A, when in INBOX B, TB uses B. But when composing while in the combined Smart INBOX, where I usually am, TB **always** uses email B, which is unwanted. A is set as default in SMTP, is the first account in the account folder list and the first account in the combined Smart INBOX. I do not find any other possible settings to influence which "From" address he picks when composing messages from a combined Smart INBOX.

I send out Newsletters and, to spread the load, I have six separate sub Address Books. I now find I cannot add a new address to one/any of them.
I select the address book, click New Contact, fill in the details and click Save. The new address appears in my Personal Address Book, but not where I want it.
Any ideas please?

When the later email is opened it shows the content of the earlier email! I'm downloading these from yahoo which displays the emails correctly on all my devices. Thoughts?

Background info: My PC was recently repaired and since it came back from the shop some emails 'appeared' to be missing. When I searched using a broad search name fortunately I found them BUT I can't keep doing that.
I have looked at the 'help' area and it looks as if, by default, my messages are being 'Threaded'. (A few arrows next to the subject column). I can't cope with this.
Using the help menu I have now selected that messages are not Threaded I hope it works.
But my questions are: 'Can I? and How do I? Unthread the emails that have threaded themselves in the last few weeks? Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Just want to ask, we are doing a backup on our emails in Thunderbird using IMAP settings. We wanted an individual backup of each user and do the manual backup by downloading all emails and zip the Profiles folder.
In every user that we added, we needed to remove each in order to create a new one. Before deleting the said user, there is a check box that says Remove Message Data. We check this checkbox. Just want to clarify that deleting the message data doesn't mean it affects whatever we had in the mail server, right? It is only being deleted in Thunderbird locally right?

Recently I began having trouble with Thunderbird complaining that the configuration for Microsoft 365 couldn't be verified. I've confirmed the username and password are good and I can see reports of successful authentication in Azure, but I'm still unable to complete the setup process to add an account. I've doublechecked that IMAP and SMTP are enabled in Exchange. Any ideas what else I can check?

I've just installed the latest Thunderbird, using the default imap settings and my known good gmail password. When I press 'Done', Google asks me to log in and give permission to Thunderbird to access my gmail account. This goes fine, but Thunderbird then reports that the password is rejected. I know that it is good, and I can't see anything wrong. Everything seems to be set correctly and none of the help topics appears to give me a solution that I haven't already tried. Help please!

As mentioned, all seemed to be ok with the new computer for the first several days. I have used Thunderbird for a number of years on the old computer and never had the slightest problem. I've hired a technician, a fine one, but he cannot understand the problem either.

Hello, I have seen similar reports on that issue here and elsewhere. What surprises me is that if I right click on the sent folder and select properties, it still gives me the right number of messages in that folder.
In fact, If I go to ~/.thunderbird/my_profile.default/Mail/pop.gmail-2.com/Sent.sbd/2023 and open that file with whatever text editor, file 2023 contains all messages sent. I have tried repairing that file, then restarting TB to no avail. Is there a workaround ?

Like many others I had to switch to AOL when Verizon dumped their email service. I installed Thunderbird and configured the settings as follows:
Server settings for each email address:
Server name imap.aol.com port 993 User Name [email]@verizon.net Connection security SSL/TLS Authentication method OAuth2
Outgoing server: Description: <not specified> Server name: smtp.aol.com User name: [email address number 1]@verizon.net Authentication method: OAuth2 Connection Security: STARTTLS
I can receive emails sent to both addresses. Both show up in their respective Thunderbird inboxes. But I can only send emails from email address number 1, the one used for the outgoing server. When I try to send an email from email address number 2, I get a popup that says
Sending of the message failed. An error occurred when sending mail. The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.
One thing I should add is that email address number 2 was, under Verizon, an alias for an auto-generated email account which in turn was a sub-email of email account number 1. But ever since Aol took them over, I've always logged into email address number 2 via the Aol website, so clearly Aol treats it as its own email address.

Received E-Mail Text & Background Color Problem
Win7 Pro ThunderBird 102.7.0
>Tools > Settings > General > Colors : I changed the default colors to: BackGround = Dark Blue ForeGround (text) = Yellow
The receiver of the sent e-mails, sees, black color text on Dark Blue BackGround. The reader can not read the text without highlighting as though desires to 'copy' the text.
The only setting configuration that remedies that matter, I configure in my ThunderBird editor: Text = Black BackGround = White Checked: Use System Colors
I prefer dark theme for everything, but when I configure that, receiver is unable to read my sent e-mails.
Is there a fix for this?
