I am attempting to copy a FF profile from a Windows 11 machine I created it and am using it on to a brand new windows 11 machine on which I have also just installed FF on. Both machines are at FF 150.0.3. I have done a search online for the methods to do this but they have both failed for me.

The first one I tried was simply copying the profile from the existing (source) machine to the profile folder in the new machine however FF never recognized the copied profile on the new machine (I am using profile manager on both machines).

I then tried copying the profile using the method we used to use a while back to copy profiles which is to let profile manager create a new profile in the new machine, open FF so that it creates that new profile in the profiles folder then delete the contents of that profile leaving it as an empty profile (with the name of the newly created FF profile). Then, I selected and copied the *entire contents* of the source profile I was trying to copy and pasted them into the newly created profile I had just zero'ed out on the new machine so that the new profile now had the exact same contents as the source profile. I knew this copy was successful because it took a while to copy all of the data from the source profile to the new profile and the indicator showed it copying.

Again, FF did not recognize the new profile when I opened FF with the name of the new profile in the prof mgr.t.

Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong or what the problem may be? One problem I had when I first copied the source profile to my 32GB USB drive was a message saying "inbox folder is too big for destination system. " The source profile is 12.72 GB so there is plenty of room on the USB drive for it to fit. I have no idea why FF would have an inbox file so I just skipped it. The rest of the profile copied to completion once I did that but its size after copying was now only 7.65 GB, about 5 GB less than the original. Could this be my problem and if so, how do I fix it? ""What happened:"" Yesterday I updated Firefox to 151 and noticed a "Profile" feature for the first time. I created a new profile, then saw a small icon with the Firefox icon that bothered me and realized it belonged to the new profile. I thought that the newly created profile is safe to delete and has to data within, so I deleted it. After that, Firefox deleted all old data and created another new profile and I lost old bookmarks, passwords, and browsing history.

Note: no warning was showed before deleting the profile.

What I tried: 1. Checked about:profiles profiles: no old data. 2. Opened the profiles folder in C:\Users\[my account]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles: no old data found. I noticed one of the default profiles contains a places.sqlite file that’s about 2 years old: no old data, only default bookmarks are there. 3. Used Recuva to try to recover files — I recovered key4.db, login.db, and places.sqlite-shm but nothing useful so far. Environment/details: • Firefox version: 151 • OS: Windows 11 • No Firefox account Questions: • Is there any way to restore the old profile data from the files I recovered (key4.db, logins.json/login.db, places.sqlite-shm)? • Any other recovery steps I should try? • how to prevent the same thing in the future? I hope you're doing well. Unfortunately, my Firefox account was still signed in on my old mobile phone, which is now being used by my father. He accidentally deleted all of my bookmarks, and I have completely lost access to them. To make matters worse, I do not have any offline backup of my bookmarks.

I was wondering if there is any way for your team to restore the bookmarks associated with my account to a state from before December 31.

ich hatte bereits Anfang des Jahres beim Einrichten meines Laptops Probleme damit, meine Lesezeichen wiederherzustellen. Damals habe ich es jedoch mithilfe eines älteren Profils geschafft.

Nun musste ich den Laptop neu aufsetzen und finde die passende Sicherungsdatei der Lesezeichen nicht mehr. Ich wollte die Lesezeichen daher wieder wie gewohnt zurückholen. Leider gibt es jedoch kein älteres Profil als 24 Stunden. Das bedeutet, dass alle Lesezeichen verschwunden sind.

Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, auf ein Profil zuzugreifen, das ein oder zwei Wochen oder sogar vier Monate alt ist? Und vor allem wie komm ich da ran?

I recently reinstalled Windows on my computer, and after setting everything up again, I noticed that all of my Firefox bookmarks are missing.

I would like to know if it is possible to recover or restore my bookmarks. Before reinstalling Windows, I was using Firefox normally and had a large collection of saved bookmarks. Unfortunately, I can no longer find them after the reinstall.

Could you please let me know if there is any way to recover them, either from my Firefox account, a backup, or any other method?

I'm sorry to say all my groups and tabs were not opened this morning, and the restore session option doesn't even show up in options!

The groups are not even in my history even though I used them yesterday!

How can this be?

I don't believe they're all gone. I know sessions are backed up...

Hello! Is it possible to recover older open tabs from a broken device that had sync activated? For a while they appeared in the hamburger menu in the top right, but now they suddenly disappeared, and under the "connected devices" I cannot click the device or anything. It went broken 2-3 months ago. Best wishes!

I am changing from Win 11 to Linux Mint and want to use as much of my Win Ff profile there... What can I trnansfert, and how, where will I find Ff extensions for Linux?

I had a system crash and had to reset my PC to factory specs. I previously saved my Firefox recovery key so that I would be able to recover my bookmarks etc in case anything happened however when I tried to recover my info I kept getting a message that my key was invalid. I then realized that a 32 character key is necessary but my key is only 28 characters. Did I miss a few characters or do I have an older key that will no longer work? Any help or info you can give me on this will be appreciated.

Firefox shutdown and updated automatically and now I have lost entire previous session, all tabs, and all bookmarks. I have reviewed all Firefox support to no avail. Nothing has worked.

After I renamed one of the sessionstore backups to sessionstore.jsonlz4, It says move it up one folder, & restart.

My path is ...APPDATA\ROAMING\MOZILLA\FIREFOX\PROFILES\8TWMWQ0P.DEFAULT-RELEASE\SESSIONSTORE-BACKUPS

I put new sessionstore.jsonlz4 in default-release folder & then profile folder, , no luck on restart.

Thats when I reread the support instructions & saw my DISTRIBUTION ID is blank, so I dont have Microsoft Store copy to begin with.

It is doing a restore previous, but just two tabs from a 2nd session that was open at same time (oops on me) & , I am trying to get back to 40 tabs I was using.
