I run the current Firefox version under Windows 11 Pro on a Dell Inspiron 15 3530 laptop, Lately, I've been having problems with my bookmarks:

• First, I found that I had somehow lost a large number of bookmark tags; it took me several days to restore them,
• Next, I found that I had lost a bunch of bookmark subfolders; the bookmarks (for the most part) are still listed under their tags.
• When I try searching for tags in Bookmarks Manager, the search yield no results
• When I try to restore my bookmarks from a previous date, I get an "unable to process file" message.
• When I try to open the profile folder through the debugging information page, I get a "file not found" message. After some searching, I found the profile folder not at "C:\Users\croge\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\7csymh5k.default-release", but at "C:\Users\croge\AppData\Local\Packages\Mozilla.Firefox_n80bbvh6b1yt2\LocalCache\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles", Something seems to have gone haywire--did I miss something, or is there an error somewhere?

Yesterday, I lost most of my bookmarks in several Bookmarks folders. These are critical to my work with several non-profit organizations. All efforts to follow Mozilla's troubleshooting advice and use the Manage Bookmarks functions to restore or import backups in my Profiles folders are met with the "Unable to process the backup file." message. I have a number of backups available, any of which could potentially resolve this issue, but nothing I have tried is working. Please help! Thanks, Shack

I opened Firefox (V 145.0.2) on my Windows 11 laptop today and noticed that the starting window was the only one open, while I have had at least five windows open for quite some time. The "History|Recently closed windows" option is greyed out. I have closed and restarted Firefox dozens of times and my windows always came back until today. Is that window/tab history stored somewhere where I could recover it?

Thinking about backups of the browser state, I looked for my profile folder and discovered that it is empty - \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\mozilla is empty except for a file named vpn.moz. I then discovered that my profile seems instead to be stored under \Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Packages\Mozilla.Firefox_n80bbvh6b1yt2\LocalCache\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles with the folder name e5di8bjy.default-release I now learned that this location is standard for installation via the Microsoft store - the so-called MSIX version. But it is wrong that the "About"profiles" page shows that my profile is in the AppData\Roaming, not the Packages, location. When I try to open that profile folder, I get a message telling me that it is not available on this computer. It seems like the profile info should be aware of the actual location?

I just moved to a new Windows 11 PC from my Windows 10 PC. I backed up my Firefox profile and put it on a portable drive. I loaded Firefox on the new PC and then found the folder where the profiles are. I added the profile folder from the backup. Firefox has not found it and there is no way I've been able to discern to search for it.

I added the anti-virus after trying to set up Firefox.

Here are the particulars: Firefox version 146.0.1 (64-bit) Windows 11 Application Binary: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe Profile folder: C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxx.default-release

After both a MS and Firefox update, I have lost all my Firefox bookmarks

I have viewed several videos online that showed how to restore them, they seemed straightforward enough, but I always hit a dead end.

Firefox>menu>Bookmarks>Manage Bookmarks>LIbrary>Import And BackUp>Restore>ChooseFile

Once I get to Restore, there are no dates available to me to pick from.All I get is Choose File, but when I click on that, nothing happens. Dead end.

My Bookmarks are missing. I see backups under the profile/bookmarkbackups folder but when I manage bookmarks, they are not in the restore dropdown. I have followed the steps to delete the places.sqlite but when I reopen firefox, I do not see the bookmarks have been restored. I thought it might have been related to Norton Utilities so I renewed a subscription but no luck. I also have a json file with my bookmarks but I cannot choose it from Manage Bookmarks, either

I have lost all my Firefox bookmarks. All gone. I have searched online for solutions, and have seen what appears to be a standard procedure for doing so. Bookmarks>Manage Bookmarks> LIbrary>Import and Backup>Restore

This is where it breaks down for me......I see no date available to use. All I see is "Choose File" and when I click that, nothing happens. That is the dead end I am at now.

All of my bookmarks disappeared. I have followed all the step to restore from the profile folder and to restore manually. It works to a point, then I get an error message saying Firefox is unable to process the backup file (see attached image). I even tried it in Troubleshooting mode.

idk where i must to say or why!n this doesnt help atall,but well...

i'v change my browser many hears ago for things like good addons,extension n like this reasons.. mozilla was good but idonno why this time all goen just by one click after i opened and clicked on download.or update button,that topright of screen pops EVERYTIME.wue!well,idk wht but w.o any clicks..miss clicks or whtevr,all tabs are remains but with out adressz or able to open.just nothing happening,like empty,umm,blank tabs.

i have all ma tabs bookmarks cuz it was important to me.bu idk how to open back all of them.ther are many and iv see many tabs in my history,but i wants last opened of a site,not all times i openes and many duplicates,not last time and not a click for all..

My old computer quit working. It had Windows 10 I purchased a new computer form Best Buy. They were unable to retrieve My bookmarks as I had left the 13 digit code to retrieve them. I am home now and have the code but do not know how to use it to retrieve the bookmarks. How do I proceed?

Yesterday, 50% of my bookmarks were deleted and now I can't bookmark anything. I tried to restore my bookmarks to several previous dates, but I received the following message each time:

Unable to process the backup file.

I tried to bookmark different websites and no bookmarks are saved now. I updated to the latest Firefox today and no change.

I went away for a week, and during that time my iMac (apple desktop) turned off. When I rebooted it last night, Firefox loaded at the start as it has for years, but ALL of my bookmarks and activity history was gone. I've been collecting those bookmarks for nineteen years, and while there's a lot of useless stuff I've collected over the years, some of it is very important.

Please help.
