I started getting this message today - "this page is slowing down firefox. To speed up your browser stop this page" How can I fix it other than to start using Safari.

I had several windows open each with different tabs in them.

I shut down them down and switched off my Mac.

On restarting my Mac, one of the windows had disappeared from the restore session. I've checked my History but the tabs don't appear there.

I'm using the latest version of FF on a Mac Air M2

Please advise.

Hello, my mac ran out of battery. When I restared it, the firefox page restarted, but I can't see it. When I click on it in the app scrolling menu, nothing turns up. It's like it is there, but as a ghost, invisible. When I close down firefox, and restart, it's still exactly the same. I had hundreds of tabs open there, and I don't want to loose that session. When I open a new window, it works, but I can't make the prevous one appear. What is going on, what to do? I'm quite desperate about it, already spent hours looking for solutions.

Last update disabled picture in picture mode -- on top of full scree applications.

Please advise how to correct / adjust. This feature is vital to my work.

How did "yahoo safety search" get into my firefox browser, and how do I get rid of it permanently? I want nothing to do with yahoo. I want duckduckgo back as my search engine.

I turned off my Mac Mini 2 last night, February 7, and when I turned it on this morning, all my Firefox bookmarks were gone.

Everything else is fine (Chrome bookmarks, which are different from those in Firefox, remain intact). And yes, I should have known better, but since when a Firefox update deletes all bookmarks?

I'm guessing that is the reason, because everything else is intact.

Any suggestions as to whether there is ANY way to recover them?

Duplicate tab closer closed all tabs that weren't loaded into memory, so how may I restore tabs across all tab groups that were closed as now showing 0 ZERO tabs open in most tab groups!?

Firefox version 122.0 Mac: Sonoma 14.1.1 apple silicon

The problem emerged about a little over a year ago (around September 2022). It started with an installation of firefox on another machine running BigSur, and I guess the problem got ported when I restored a time machine backup on this current machine. I attempted to troubleshoot the issue by following mozilla support and reddit threads but to no avail. I, at the time, settled on monthly time machine backups, but now finally decided to address it properly.

Troubleshooting steps that I have followed:

• going into the about:config page and changing the places.history.expiration.max_pages and places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages to 2147483647 then to 999999 after reading about how a value too high might be ignored (both values didn't seem to change anything)
• going into the about:config page and changing the places.history.expiration.transient_optimal_database_size to 85534800
• removing the add-on/extension manager as seeing that it might remove history for some reason (from a [thread] by IceTemple)
• In the privacy and security tab, history is set to Firefox will use custom settings for history

Things I suspect might be the problem:

• I originally used the Chinese version of firefox (downloaded from the .cn website) and reinstalled the international version (from .com) after getting annoyed by the built-in ads. For convenience sake, I ported the profile folder over which might have carry the problem over. That being said, I don't think this problem existed when I just started using firefox but appeared awhile later.
• result of an update, don't know which though
• certain extensions (I haven't went through them individually since I installed a lot)

My questions:

1. How to stop Firefox from doing this ever again?
2. Alternatives of storing history if nothing works
3. Why did my troubleshooting steps not work? Is there something wrong with my version of firefox that prevented the about:config changes from working?
4. If I have to resort to backing up the places.sqlite history file, how do I restore/reintegrate them with current history file?

English isn't my first language so I apologize for any confusion that may arise due to how I articulate. Any help is much appreciated

I set up a Primary Password, but I can easily get around it by clicking 'cancel' then clicking 'home' icon. then I can get into ANY of the links. For others who have access to my computer NOT having that access is Exactly why I set up Primary password in the first place. Surely there must be a way to fix this???? haas2128@comcast.net Thanks. About a month ago Firefox started giving me BAD REQUEST for URLs generated by the MLS system all of us realtors use.

This URL works fine in Safari, but not in Firefox any longer. What has happened and how/when will this be resolved? JPaul

Have I been hacked?? Restore Session not even avail on Menu bar. No computer crash or electric failure in last 24 hrs, but not a single one of my tabs are still open on my browser (30+) and no tab/page option as usual asking if I want to Restore my Session. What the !*& happened to my months of tabs? I do/did have the correct settings selected for Tabs to be restored. Oh MY GOD --this is a complete nightmare!! I'm the only user on this home desktop Mac. Is it possible for a big tech company like Apple to release a web platform that is not compatible with Firefox? Firefox is not supported by Apple School Manager (https://school.apple.com) i.e. a web platform designed for educational institutions (PA). Is it legal? Is it possible to make a claim to EU institutions? Thank you

How on earth do I add Quant to the Firefox search engine? This info is no where under the help section, only lots of reading about warnings! In Firefox preferences I have made Quant my default browser so why is this so difficult? I vaguely saw a little warning message saying that Mozilla was not allowing this but this warning was hidden and I can't find it again. Firefox guided my to 'pin' Quant to the Firefox toolbar but every time I open a page to search I have to remember to hit the Quant pin. This is absolute nonsense. Please email me back and tell me how I can add Quant to my Firefox so that every time I open Firefox the Quant homepage will just be there. Thank you. Cynthia

I have alot of logins saved from my previous laptop and it was syncing with firefox account. My previous laptop got dead. Now i am trying to login to new laptop but passwords and bookmark is not recovered?

I'm a student, which means I'm constantly accessing my university's library page. I've run into a weird URL autocomplete issue that I can't seem to resolve.

Beginning to type "library" in the URL bar leads to Firefox autocompleting with a past college's library site that I haven't used in years. It's not in my bookmarks, I've deleted all its site data in Firefox's history, I've tried the "shift + delete" trick, but nothing's making this autocomplete go away. It doesn't seem like Firefox Suggest, but something else.

All I want is for my school's library to show up as the autocomplete. It's so annoying to navigate away from a website I haven't used in years every time.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

I used the password manager feature years and go to it probably 5+ times a week. I went to look for a password today and there are only 5 accounts in there. Trying not to panic I went to my computer to see if it was just my iOS device that wasn't showing them all for some reason, but only the same five accounts are in there too. When I first setup my ipad, all the accounts in the password vault sync'd but they all showed empty so I never bothered looking them up on there. I'm wondering if somehow the ipad's failed sync caused all the other passwords to be corrupted and removed from my account somehow. The 5 accounts I do have are all new accounts I've made over the past month, and I've used it a ton since the old ones. Any ideas for how I could get them back?
