I have discovered a bug in the Sync. While starting a fresh copy of the browser and signing into the Sync, the content that was earlier saved to the Sync server is not fully restored.
As example, I use the "Preferences".
Some settings, like for example: "network prefernces", "search", etc., instead of beeing restored from the Sync server, are set to the default values and need to become changed manually into the prefered values.

Hi
This is on Ubuntu. I installed Firefox Developer edition to /opt/firefox and made a .desktop file I put in ~/.local/share/applications and this was working well. I added it to favourites so it appeared on the dock, and added some customizations.
But at some point Firefox started to create its own .desktop file at launch when it prompts to be default browser and you say yes, called stuff like "userapp-Firefox Developer Edition-N8YCQ1.desktop". These files fill up ~/.local/share/applications and break my existing file by making a second Firefox icon on the dock so I cannot click the first one. Also my own custom file had Desktop Actions so I could right-click the icon to open a new window or new private window, but the generated ones are barebones.
Every time I delete the "userapp" file, a new one is made the next time I open Firefox (which has now forgotten it is default browser) and the issue is back. Is there an option to disable this behaviour?
Thanks for your help

I am having a problem with Firefox when using Facebook. After scrolling down and viewing posts the posts start to jump around. You need to scroll down viewing many posts before this starts. It is very annoying. Once it starts it will jump around without any operator intervention. I have tried troubleshoot mode and also reset to no avail. This happens on two different systems in different locations both using Linux Mint 20.03 and the latest Firefox 102.0.1 64 bit. It also did this on prior versions and seems to have started as long as 6 months ago. I have mostly ignored it as reloading the FB page stops the insanity. I would say this is a FB problem but running FB with Chromium on these systems under the same conditions results in no problem.
Hopefully I am not the only one experiencing this and you will find the problem until then I am forced to use Chromium to view FB.

Hello everyone,
Context I have a website on my raspberry for my photos. I have created a client and server ssl certificate to secure the best
Result On my brower "Pale Moon" (firefox fork), it works fine. When I go to my site, I am asked to validate the ssl client certificate before entering the site.
On Firefox, I immediatelly get the message : 400 Bad Request No reuqired SSL certificate was sent. I don't get any error code specific to Firefox
What I have done to client certifiat
Creation of authority certificate
I put in the file openssl.cnf : [ req ] default_md = sha1 distinguished_name = req_distinguished_name
[ req_distinguished_name ] countryName = Country countryName_default = FR countryName_min = 2 countryName_max = 2 localityName = Locality localityName_default = France organizationName = Organization organizationName_default = Raspberry commonName = Common Name commonName_max = 64
[ certauth ] subjectKeyIdentifier
And I execute the following command : openssl req -config ./openssl.cnf -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyform PEM -keyout ca.key -x509 -days 3650 -extensions certauth -outform PEM -out ca.cer
The key client openssl genrsa -out client.key 2048 The CSR file openssl req -config ./openssl.cnf -new -key client.key -out client.req and then the certificat file : openssl x509 -req -in client.req -CA ca.cer -CAkey ca.key -set_serial 101 -extfile openssl.cnf -extensions client -days 3650 -outform PEM -out client.cer
P12 In order to integrate my certificate in my browser, I convert to p12 format file openssl pkcs12 -export -inkey client.key -in client.cer -out client.p12
I then integrate my p12 certificate the same way under Pale Moon and Firefox
My question How do I get Firefox to ask me for the client certificate without it ignoring it?
My certificat visible on Firefox attached

Hi all, I'm having a lot of problems with Firefox crashing pretty often. Sometimes once or twice a day.
I most often see crashes in the middle of a Webex video conference for work. But Firefox sometimes goes down in other situations that I see no pattern in.
This is Ubuntu 20.04, Firefox 102.0. Unfortunately, it's a complex environment to debug.
First, when firefox goes down, it rarely leaves a crash report behind. So I'm not getting any direct evidence as to what is happening. Second, I run with uBlock active and it is very difficult to function in the browser without long enough for the crash to happen. Third, I typically have several hundred tabs open. I have a lot of memory (64G) in my machine, and the machine doesn't act like it's swapping, so I don't think I'm running out of memory.
Any help getting to the bottom of what's going on is welcome.

I find the password function in FFox very useful.
What will make it even !better! is if it had a text box where I can add notes. For example I may need to know which email address is associated with a login. Also this will be a good place to store my security questions.
Not certain if this is the place to request updates...
Thanks, Dave Pitney

Yes, I know I was only just complaining about all my logins being lost when I start firefox. This is (to me) a different question.
Ok, I get it, security is important and remaining logged in is usually a good idea. But as I am one person and it is my machine......
But there is a twist to this.
Places like shops / e-bay / amazon / etc.....
I log into them, do my stuff, and close the tab/window.
The log ins are kept.
(Side story) I seldom / never "quit" Firefox. As is, I turn on the machine. If/when needed I start firefox and that's that. When I'm done I just shut down the machine. (firefox still "running".)
Next time I turn on and start firefox, things are as I left them.
That is the ideal situation for me.
I've since discovered that there are a few ways to "exit" firefox.
FILE/QUIT quits firefox. Menu/QUIT does the same. But if I go through and close the windows: that's a whole other story. Likewise if I go out of firefox, RMB on the icon and say QUIT.
So, how do I make sure that if/when I close a tab (I'll keep it at that level as that is what is logged into the site, not necessarily the window) the cookies are wiped?
In the settings/privacy / TRACKING I have CUSTOM set, with all the boxes ticked. DO NOT TRACK is set to ALWAYS Alas (due to local reasons) I have Don’t enable HTTPS-Only Mode set.
What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

I've been through a rough patch with Firefox the past couple of weeks.
Cutting to the chase: I exported all my bookmarks and imported them in a new profile.
But the icons that used to be there aren't.
Not *end of the world*, but just something I noticed.
(I just about shot myself in the foot) Ok, after using one to open a tab and the icon returned. So is that how they get their icons?
