Some sites seems to save some of the words, some sites do no not. I don't know how it works, really.
I remember being able just to point the word off the list and hit "delete" and it was gone. Doesn't work anymore these days.
I can't find the option "Remember my browsing history for at least n days". I use firefox 36.0, does it depends on firefox version?

I've double-checked that no other program is deleting the history, and there are no scheduled tasks running that would do it. I have Firefox set to KEEP history. I DID have a crash at one point - could that have corrupted a user file?? How do I create that corrupted file to check if that is it?
Thank you!

Is there any response about this from Mozilla yet?
"Now, a graduate student at Hasselt University in Belgium said he has confirmed that Chrome, IE, and Firefox users are once again susceptible to browsing-history sniffing. Borrowing from a browser-timing attack disclosed last year by fellow researcher Paul Stone, student Aäron Thijs was able to develop code that forced all three browsers to divulge browsing history contents. He said other browsers, including Safari and Opera, may also be vulnerable, although he has not tested them."

This problem happened this morning. I had like 3 years of my browsing history in Firefox. It crashed today when I started it, then I repeatedly clicked somewhere on the crashed screen so Windows force close it. It force closed it. But when it stated , ALL my history is gone !!!!! Although saved passwords are ok. Now EVERY TIME I start Firefox, it does seem to reset itself and clears history This problem appeared after I updated to 44 recently. 1- How can I fix this problem? 2- How can I retrieve my history?
Any help is deeply appreciated

I noticed that Firefox is deleting some of my older history and download entries that are about 5-6 months old. I've set my options to "Remember history" when I first created the profile. Used the SQLite Manager to check places.sqlite and I'm not anywhere close to places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages.
In comparisons with some backups, I've noticed that the missing records in places.sqlite's moz_places table had NULL values in favicon_id. They're getting auto-cleaned at some point, which is counter to what is expected with the "Remember history" setting. I don't think it's a max_pages issue because there are still moz_places table records much older than the lost entries.
Is there a preference I can set in about:config to avoid this?

I have narrowed this issue don to the 'Clear History When Firefox Closes' setting, I can do a refresh and only change the one setting and it will crash firefox when I go to shut down, it stops responding and I will have to force it closed or goto task manager to shut it down. Clearly something wrong with either the browser in a folder that stays when I delete firefox and reinstall, tried that too and it still happens.
The only other thing I could think of is if one of the anti-malware programs are doing it but I have 4 machines that this is not an issue and have the same setups in each, ith the exception of Microsoft Essentials. So I don't think that the other programs are the issue, I believe their is a folder that firefox uses that is not being removed, reset, what ever and firefox is the issue itself...
This is on a friends computer, I am trying to figure this out for him...
It has,
Malwarebytes Spybot 1.6 Microsoft Essentials

Hello, Today I noticed that some of the oldest links in my history disappeared. I usually keep all my history and I remember that one and an half year ago (about in december 2014) I deleted all my history while making a backup. So the oldest history links were visited in january and february 2015, but in my oldest history i see links from mid-march. I saw that if i open firefox for a while, the oldest links get deleted one by one without any reason. I used a Mozilla History Viewer software and i succeeded to make a backup of about 108600 links, but 1) 2 months of history got lost and 2) i can't figure out why it keeps deleting itself. The only thing i'm guessing is the size limit on the places.sqlite file (81920 KB). My questions are: Is it true that there's a size limit on that file or is there a number limit on the links (I saw something on the about:config page searching "places.*", Although i don't know what should i modify to set the size/number limit as unlimited). Also is there a way to recover those two months of browsing? Since it's an year ago I can't recover files in the "Profiles\***.default" folder and it doesn't come anything else on mind. Can anyone help on this? Thank you very much

Thank you!

When I use any search engine to look for information, a long list of possibilities comes up. As I explore the most likely of these, the color of explored results doesn't change, so I soon lose track of which ones I have already tried and I end up wasting time re-trying the same sites! I have used FF Options/Content/Color to check change color of visited links, but it doesn't work in search engine result lists. IE doesn't have this problem so searching is much more efficient with IE. Please check into this glitch.
ALSO: The previous display for "Options" was far superior to the new one! It was easier to comprehend the whole schemata of an option, therefore much easier and faster to use! Now you have to stumble around and wonder where everything went, just seeing parts of things. I really HATE it big time. TIP: If something don't need fixin', don't fix it. Seems like tech guys just like to spend their days reconfiguring tech things for the heck of it, maybe to entertain themselves or impress their fellow tech buddies, BUT NEVER WITH PRIMARY FOCUS ON THE CONSUMER, most of whom use tech for mandatory work and not entertainment, and all of whom really don't have the time to keep learning every new twist. Tech isn't "fun" for us. Tech is a means to do a task that we want to get done as soon as possible, and unnecessary changes are just annoying stumbling blocks. Remember that, developers. Strive more for efficiency with a smooth continuum, and not for what might be "cool" to tech insiders.
