I run the latest Firefox (v122.0.1) on Windows 11.

Since last week, FF takes 14 minutes to start the first time after a boot. :-( Usually FF starts in ~3 seconds.

I reboot the laptop. I wait a minute. I start FF. Nothing happens for 14 minutes. Finally the browser window suddenly appear and everything is working normally. I exit FF (no remaining firefox.exe processes are running). I start FF again. Now it starts immediately as usual. :-) But: I reboot and start FF. Again, it takes 14 minutes to start. This is reproduceable every time.

I haven't tried to *solve* this by refreshing FF or simillar. Right now I'm more interested in debugging this and finding out what is wrong.

I found https://profiler.firefox.com/docs/#/./guide-startup-shutdown which states how to automatically start the profiler at startup.

12:40 I boot the computer, login and wait a minute. 12:43 I start CMD.EXE and run:

 cd c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
 set MOZ_PROFILER_STARTUP=1
 set MOZ_PROFILER_STARTUP_ENTRIES=20000000
 set MOZ_PROFILER_STARTUP_INTERVAL=100

12:44 I run:

 firefox.exe

No GUI appear. (it won't appear until 14 minutes later) I open the Task Manager and see one (1) firefox.exe process, taking 0% cpu. (pid 17668) 12:48 One more process running for a few seconds. Commandline is just "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe", no more options. 0% CPU. 12:50 One more process running for a few seconds. Commandline is just "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe", no more options. 0% CPU. 12:52 One more process running for a few seconds. Commandline is just "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe", no more options. 0% CPU. 12:54 One more process running for a few seconds. Commandline is just "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe", no more options. 0% CPU. 12:56 One more process running for a few seconds. It is showing one (1) tab with my start-page (google) just as it should. (my Task Manager now show 12 FF processes running, with various options) 12:59 I click the icon to stop the profiling.

I open the profile. [Profile Info] says:

 Recording length: 1m12s 

So my profiling data don't show what happens between 12:44 to 12:58 :-(

Just for the sake of it, I'm attaching a pic of the first 10 seconds of the profile (at 12:58).

PS: Between 12:44 and 12:58 no FF window exists at all. Alt+Tab show no FF and in Task Manager I can't do any "Window" management, it is greyed out. I.e. no FF window exists for this process.

Question 1) What should I do to debug what happens between 12:44 and 12:58?

Question 2) How can it be that it takes 14 minutes to start FF from scratch (boot) while it starts quickly (~3 seconds) if it has been started once? I mean, all firefox.exe processes are gone when I exit FF, so starting FF again should be like starting from scratch, but apparently something is different.

Question 3) Is it normal that a FF, with only one tab (https://google.com/), run 12 processes in Task Manager?

I have used Firefox since forever, was a Netscape user in the past

But for about 3 months Firefox simply is no good anymore\

It is more and more sites I can not access with Firefox and have to use Edge instead.

It's so bad that I might have to stop using it entirely.

I've tried creating new profiles, disabling all add-ons, and disabling Enhanced Tracking Protection; none helped.

As you can see in the video (about the 00:16 mark) it randomly stops properly loading pages from the website, even in new tabs. The only temporary remedy is to either close and re-open FF, or press Ctrl+F5 (which I did at the end of the video).

I must add that it can happen even when loading the website for the first time in the session.

This newest release has a massive memory leak. I know it's Firefox, because I look at the system monitor, and there are even more entries for firefox.com running than usual. The first one on the top of the list is the biggest resource hog, and the next one is second. All the rest have something going on, but smaller. Looking at performance in the Windows Task Manager, under performance, the memory usage goes up. Right now, it's 5.35Gb of 16Gb. At worst, several days ago, it was at 12Gb. When I force close Firefox, the memory and usage goes way, way down, to a usable level.

I wrote last night. "Ed" someone got back to me, didn't quote my message, and said he was from another department. I DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING AS LAST NIGHT. I hit the blue button, which took me here, and he advised me to do today, which brought me here, AGAIN.

If this, again, goes to "restoring access to Mozilla accounts and subscription services such as Mozilla VPN", please be professional and forward it to the right department, possibly with my message quoted, as this is the second time I'm creating it, and only have my memory on which to fall back for the first time. The logical topic is "Fix slowness, crashing, error messages, and other problems".

At the same time, other releases have had big memory leaks, and they seem to get patched quickly.

Hi, I watch specific streaming live show on YouTube every week. Unfortunately, I always have to play it in non-Firefox browser, because the video freezes every couple minutes, while audio track is still playing in the background. Based on the comments from the stream chat, other people have this issue too. Why? How to fix it? It is annoying. Internet connection is ok. Other browsers no issue. I have been using an old version of Firefox (109.0.1). I am not typically using a newer version because of an essential - to me - add-on which hasn't been updated, and which doesn't work in more recent versions.

On macOS Sierra this old version of Firefox crashes. Troubleshooting mode (I was prompted a number of times) and restarting the browser appears to eventually resolve the crash, but finally there is an issue with the memory and the browser doesn't "work."

So I just picked up a new laptop (ASUS Vivobook 16x), and everything is fresh on it. Additionally, this only affects some video content in Firefox, with Edge browser unaffected. In brief, what is happening is that within a couple hours of having the browser open, certain video content stops working, specifically Twitter/X videos just spin, YouTube previews stop working, and videos continually load. Netflix videos continue to work, but hover previews stop functioning. I even check the 'Stats for Nerds' on YT and it shows 0 KB network activity in Firefox.

I've tried every basic action I can think of:

• Turning off extensions (only use Ublock and Bitwarden)
• Browser Refresh (x3)
• Reverting from 120.1 to 120.0, and now 199.0.1
• Clearing the browser cache
• Reinstalling NVidia and Intel Drivers
• Running in Safe Mode

Only by doing a refresh or completely closing/opening the app gets videos to function again. This doesn't affect the old laptop or my desktop, which makes me think it's a rogue driver--but then why would Edge function without error over the same period of time?

Are there any settings to play with in the browser that can help diagnose?

Youtube page sometimes freeze and i cant interact with anything on it, it never return to work, i have to close and open the page, the video continue to play when it freeze, the rest of the tabs and firefox works normally when that happens, i only have two extensions, betterttv and ublcok origin, i remember having the same problem with a fresh install, i dont remember ever seeing that happen when youtube put the video in a miniplayer and you can still browse the site, i only remember seeing on video pages, like youtube.com/watch?...

Since the new update for some reason, videos on some websites are no longer loading as they used to. The big sites like YouTube and Netflix are fine though others are giving error codes.

(Error Code: 102630) is a common one, even after going through the guides online to get it working nothing works.

The other thing I've noticed is: Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG This also comes up on some web players. Same again, nothing works trying to fix it.

Something changed during update 122.0.1 ?? Any Help or Ideas would be great. :)

Whenever I try to play videos on Firefox, the elements don't load right and no video will begin. On Youtube, this is usually either a blank page with no video element, or I get an error stating that the video can't be played. On Twitch, I get the streamer's default 'not streaming' message, even if they are live, and VODs don't work. I have several extensions to protect privacy and block ads, but even if they are all turned off I still have this problem. I've also tried turning my VPN off and on, and setting it to various different locations. Nothing works. I can watch videos on another browser without issue. I'm getting the error message "No video with supported format and MIME type found" with mp3 files at https://www.gatherthepeople.org/test/styled-7/page-3/ when using Firefox 123.0 on my M1 (ARM) iMac running OS 14.3.1; when using Firefox 123.0 on my M1 (ARM) MacBook Air running OS 14.3.1; when using Firefox 123.0 on Win 11;and when using Firefox 115.8 on my Intel MacBook Pro running OS 10.14.6.

The same mp3 files (https://www.gatherthepeople.org/test/styled-7/page-3) play without any problem with Chrome and Safari on the Mac and with Edge on Win 11 .

While watching a livestream on Youtube it freezes, and i have to refresh the page to resume only for it to do the same thing moments later, getting really annoying as it doesn't do it while watching normal videos.

How about logging entry and exit points for each plug in that runs? Then it should be pretty easy to identify which plugin is crashing. Sure, it won't work all the time, but it'll work much of the time.

This would be SO much easier than taking ages to manually debug by safe mode, trouble shooting, disabling each plugin one at a time. That's no fun, even for IT pros. Think what it's like for regular users!

What am I missing here? This sounds like a very simple fix, which would offer HUGE wins for little work.

I am facing an issue with my Firefox.

This most commonly occurs with video playback webapps like YouTube Shorts. Intermittently, but often enough to be incredibly annoying!!) videos will stick while audio plays in the background. This does not always happen, but once it starts there seems to be some sort of cooling off period before things work again.

Reddit video player never works, seeming to silently crash - never showing the play button or video controls overlay.

I have had miscellenious other issue with other website that include forms to fill out and navigate where the elements like "next" or "submit" are completely unresponsive.

• Refreshing the page does not fix it.
• Clearing Firefox's cache and data did not fix it.
• "Refreshing" Firefox did not fix it.

Strangely, the same video/page will always work on a Private browser window. I appreciate that these windows don't have extensions active, but I have activated every extension in private browsing and it still works.

The only extensions I have are:

• Privacy Badger
• uBlock Origin
• Bitwarden

I have no idea what it is about my "normal" browser which is broken, and why things are fine in the private window, but this is immensely frustrating.

I really don't want to have to change to another browser (Chrome... ew...) but I need this fixed if I am to continue.

Ancestry.com freezes up under Firefox. Cannot manipulate trees. Get message that says page is slowing Firefox down. Works under Chrome.

I recently started using Firefox as my main browser after using Chrome for awhile, and I'm now running into trouble playing music on Spotify.

Every time I try to play a song on the browser version of Spotify, it cycles through several quickly without playing anything and eventually displays an error message that says: "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

I've seen others with similar issues (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1431659) but the suggested fixes aren't working for me. My Firefox is up-to-date, I have DRM controlled content enabled, as well as the Widevine Content Decryption Module.

Looking for any suggestions!

I posted about a month ago that I was having problems with logging on various websites with FF. A reader had me uninstall/reinstall and that fixed the issue. Now it's back again. I get error messages like "something went wrong" when trying to logon to various websites, or told to reload, but it just keeps happening. It's a bit random. No problems with Edge. I need this solved to use FF.

Hello, Firefox keeps crashing every 1 or 2 minutes. thats a new Endeavouros installation and firefox was pre-installed. system is fully updated.
