Restore Previous Session not working - or, not properly at least

OK, I was using a very old version of firefox previously and restore previous session worked perfectly. If my computer crashed, when I rebooted it, the "trouble finding pages" message came up, click to restore session, and everything came back.

Then.... I upgraded to version 72.0.2 (64 bit)

Session restore no longer works, or at least not the way it should be working.

If I had say 20 windows open when the computer crashed, when I finish a reboot and start Firefox, I get the "trouble finding pages" message, and I click to restore session as before.

Anywhere from 2 to maybe 5 windows will restore. The rest are gone.

I suspect it has to do with the fact that there were now multiple "instances" of firefox running in the task manager, and what's happening is that it's restoring the windows in ONE of those previous instances, but not all of them.

It gives me the impression that the session restore function isn't tracking all the windows open in all those separate instances, but rather it's only tracking one instance.


Any assistance would be appreciated.

This is NOT about auto-fill. For at least a month now, Firefox has not been recognizing forms on a variety of websites. This morning I was looking at a clothing website, but no matter what I did, I could not enter a size and then choose a color for any items. I opened another browser, and the website worked fine. I just tried to renew library books, and again, in Firefox, nothing I tried to do on the website worked. In another browser, the website worked fine. I have filled out almost an entire form on some websites, and then one box that I must fill out ("state" for example) doesn't work, and I can't complete the form. In another browser, the website form works fine. What's going on? I am updated with the latest version. This is happening on at least two computers.

I asked this before and found disabling hardware acceleration did it but it happens again when i browse FB not logged in. I have FF set to block ALL sites from automatic playing. Why would i need to log in to fb to fix it?

Hi Everyone, For personal reasons I run FF version 72.0.2. I have a subscription to Britbox (UK) which has run without difficulty for two years now --- until recently, when it stopped for no apparent reason and displayed the error message shown in the attached image. Britbox Tech Support is, to say the least - useless, and I have been unable to extract anything useful from them for the past few weeks. Today, however, I got a (speculative) message saying that if I upgraded my FF version to the latest - things would be fine again. Strange, as they have been insisting I change to Chrome until today. Can anyone support their advice? i.e. Is there anything in version upgrades from 72.0.2 which might have affected viewing? Thank you. Ian

what is it so hard to disable updates and stop your releases and keep my profile and addons. I had enough of your browser as with every update more things go wrong, missing or disabled. I just want to use the internet with the old addons I donw want any of your new features crap. With 8GB or ram your last browser fails to stop freezing my computer with your ram usage and process limit. I use basically the same addons and scripts as with FIrefox 52 and everything fails to work now. I hope someone can make a usable browser that does the simple things that I want and not have to deal with this again.

I'm trying to update Firefox on a relative's Windows 10 computer, but none of the installed browsers can reach the Mozilla main pages. We're stuck on version 72.0.2

Other webpages load fine. The only way I've gotten mozilla.org to load is by using a web proxy, but then the error appears when I try to download the latest version of firefox (it's always "download was interrupted" then). Going down the recommendations on this help page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-and-other-browsers-cant-load-websites , I verified that windows firewall allows Firefox. Then I checked the system time and the wireless connection. Flushing the DNS cache was similarly fruitless. Other computers using the same internet provider in the same house don't have this problem, so I don't think the ISP is at fault. I even went looking for the DNS number of the website and tried inputting that into my address bar. Still no luck. I made an HTTP log file of the error through about:networking, as described here https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Debugging/HTTP_logging, and will attach it. I really hope you can help me troubleshoot this; it's been plaguing my relative for an excruciatingly long time.

HI,

it's a problem that's been around for years, yet i never got an appropriate answer, so i'm asking here:

The longer i keep Firefox running, the slower my whole system gets and the slower firefox itself gets - up to a point (generally like about 10 hours or so) where everything becomes so slow, i have to manually shut down Firefox via the Task Manager. All that seems to be independent from the fact whether i actually do something in Firefox or not.

So i don't know what Firefox actually does while i'm away that kills my whole system, but i'd really like to know and i appreciate any help!!!

I have already changed most of the setting as mentioned in the following article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections

Some of the IP connections have stopped after making those changes. But there are still few connections. They are: - 35.244.181.201 (This is Google LLC) - 13.227.142.108 (This is Amazon) - 117.18.237.29 (This appears to be Verizon Media) - 54.70.109.38 (This is Amazon) - 52.38.31.225 (This is Amazon)

It will be great if someone could shed some light on this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I recently installed the Multi-Account Containers extension but noticed that it also added some unwanted right click context menu items to assets for websites that I have put into containers. For example google.com and youtube.com are both put inside a "google" container. Now I have used the folowing code: "menu[label="Open Link in New Google Tab"] {display:none!important;} " in the userChrome.css file to remove the context menu item: "Open Link in New Google Tab" but it's only taking effect on the google.com website and not youtube.com.

Anyone know the reason why?

Hey,

My employer recently updated its information security policy, and as a part of that disabled Firefox accounts on our work laptops. Is there a way to "manually" sync passwords, bookmarks, tabs etc. to and from a computer that is not logged in? Installing third party software is, because of the same security policy, not an option.

I've relied heavily on Firefox Sync in the past, as I often come across items of interest that I bookmark on my private laptop that I would like to access on my work computer and vice versa, passwords are updated often etc. The updated security policy has become a real nuisance, so I am looking for a workaround. ;)

(And yes, I am talking to our IT department, and they are at least semi interested in finding a solution.)

Hi Everyone, When I try to access a particular website, there is no real graphical display - simply text scattered everywhere.

I visit loads of different sites each day, and this is the only one where this problem occurs.

The website Owner thinks it might be something to do with a CSS file(?) but, as I do not have the problem elsewhere, I am unsure.

If anyone can help on this, I'd be very grateful.
