I restarted Firefox after a reboot and had received the new update (70). I previously had opened tabs (I work a LOT with opened tabs). All of them were now gone. No option to recover previous sessions was under settings. Also, none of my add-ons were present. Is this intended behaviour? Also, it seems to suggest I had to create a FF login to 'sync' things up? With what? I don't need my phone and my PC sync'd. I don't need my work and my home PC sync'd. It's fine that this was a feature previously but please tell me this isn't being thrust upon us because someone thinks that's "what everyone wants"?

I'm a developer and always have multiple Firefox profiles running simultaneously from the same program/install directory. This generally works very well.

The one issue I've struggled with is that since the removal of the "never check for updates" preference, the update behaviour of Firefox causes problems with multiple profiles. I have it set to prompt for updates, and I install them immediately from my "main" profile, but the "newer release is available" window keeps popping up in the other running profiles.

This is mostly just annoying. However, if I accidentally accept the update in one of the other profiles, it then tries to update overtop of the already-updated Firefox and errors out. I've had to reinstall from a full download because of this several times, which is a bigger problem.

I've looked for ways to disable the check-for-updates behaviour in my secondary profiles, but this doesn't seem possible. The only way to disable updates/checks for updates as I understand it is the enterprise policy method; however, this disables updates for all profiles using the same program/install directory. Obviously I like to keep up to date, so this is no good.

I don't want to have to have a seprate program/install dir for each profile -- then I would just have to update them all separately anyway.

Is there a way to have Firefox check for updates automatically, but only in my one main profile?

When I click on a link in any external application, FF will open a new window with an empty tab. Copy-pasting the link works.

I tried:

• Safe Mode
• Clean Profile

... to no result.

I am starting Firefox using a launcher script (Apple Script editor) which just does this: do shell script "nohup /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -P -no-remote >/dev/null 2>&1 &"

It always worked, and it also works when I switch to Chrome or Safari. It's just firefox which does not any more.

Any help here?

since the update to 71.0b3 (32-Bit) my custom css for multiple tab rows is not working anymore: It is showing only one row anymore; The userChrome.css looks loke this:

I downloaded a malicious add-ons extension called "YouTube to MP3 Convert Button" by "Firefox user 6248547". All it did was open a video conversion website, which worked for the first video I tried (with alot of popups) but the second video I tried, it redirected me to a fake Firefox update page. As soon as I tried to cancel it, a login popup kept appearing and all my open tabs immediately went haywire trying to do some kind of redirect, and I it would not let me click on anything. I quickly ended the process to force close the browser, restarted Firefox and cleared my cache and uninstalled the extension. I am concerned about what kind of malware this may have installed on my machine. I reported this user over a month ago, but it is still available on the add-on page, and other people also commented about it having malware. Any suggestions?

Ja, Firefox Updates ärgern mich. Ich benutze seit vielen Jahren Firefox. Angefangen habe ich mit Version 4 oder 5, damals wurde noch mit Anpassbarkeit geworben. Anfangs war es noch möglich, durch einen Mausklick zu bestimmen, ob die Tabs oben oder unten sind, dann kam eine neue Firefox Version. Ich habe mir eine UserChrome.css gemacht, die gut funktioniert hat, dann kam Firefox 57? und die Anpassbarkeit war Geschichte. Wer mit mehreren Tabs arbeitet und dafür sind die Tabs doch da, muss die Maus mehr bewegen und es ist unübersichtlich. Wäre es nicht sinnvoll, dass was ich am häufigsten benutze, in der Nähe der Arbeitsfläche zu haben? Wäre es nicht besser die Tab Leiste standardmäßig nach unten zu legen und wer es anders möchte, der kann sich alle 10 oder 15 Versionen, eine UserChrome.css basteln.

I'm trying to set up a new account using new@example.com but I keep getting a "Primary account email required" message. I found new@example.com was set as a secondary email for the old@example.com account. I removed it and old@example.com no longer has a secondary email, but I'm still getting the "Primary account email required" message.

I'm using Windows XP theme for Windows 7. Yes, it may sound weird, but I love that old Windows' design.

The problem is about the Mozilla Firefox browsers window height. As you can see in the screeenshot I posted below (or above, I actually have no idea where exactly), the bottom window is Mozilla Firefox browser and the top window is nothing but an explorer. Explorer has the default window height so we see the "minimise", "maximise" and "close" buttons correctly as it should be.

Is there a way to change this in Mozilla Firefox browser? It's not a big deal, but kinda bugs me when I look at that place.

I have my Firefox (Developer Edition 71.0b4) shortcut setup to display the "Choose User Profile" window when I start it. (Since I maintain both a personal and work profile.) Lately whenever I start this window comes up completely blank, with no content inside it at all, although the Choose User Profile title is still present. This prevents me from selecting a profile and starting Firefox.

To get around the problem, I close that blank window, wait a bit, and try launching the shortcut again. Often I have to try 3-4 times before it works.

This problem had existed on a previous version of Firefox (sorry didn't note version then), but seemed to get fixed with an update several months ago. Now the problem has returned.

I will try to attach an image later, but can't do so now while Firefox is running.

Even though all the elements are the same dimension with no margins/padding. Firefox displays scrollbars... On Chrome it is displayed as intended, covering the viewport without any scrollbars.

Is this is Firefox bug?

In my continuing battle to eliminate all "blinding white" backgrounds, the Firefox Home page and the mozilla websites continue to ignore my wishes. I've tried a variety of extensions, themes and scripts that claim to darken these backgrounds to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

With a Macbook Pro running Catalina (10.15.1) and Firefox 71.0b5 (or older versions) If FF is open on a second monitor connected via display port (I have 2 external monitors and built-it), when you Secondary click (AKA right Click) the context menu will often appear on the main Mac display rather than the monitor running FF. Also as the screen are different resolution the menu uses a smaller font. I have attached screen shots showing the two monitors. Assume this a FF bug?

After updating from Firefox 69 to Firefox ver 70.0.1 ad blocking add ons for Firefox stoped working. I tested the same issue in Firefox Developer Edition 71.0b5 and thete it works fine.

Can anyone tell me what me be the reason and how to fix it?

Hi there! I have faced a drag and drop problem in Firefox. If you drag and drop multiple files at once to somewhere (e.g., google drive, mega, etc.) firefox won't work, and closing firefox won't really close firefox-bin.

I'm using Firefox Developer 71.0b7 (64-bit). When I click the icon to start the browser, it spawns about 50 processes but never launches. I have to kill the process in the Task Manager and start over. It rarely happens twice in a row.

Any ideas about what's happening? What can I try? Any logs I can read?

Hi, I am learning web development. I am into AJAX now. When I try to use `load('ajax/somedata.txt')` in a local HTML file, I get the error:

Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at file:///home/sourav/The%20Complete%20Web%20Development%20Course/JQuery/ajax/somedata.txt. (Reason: CORS request not http).

Same happens with other browsers. But Falkon browser is an exception. The other way to fix this is running an http server (like WEBrick).

Just because Firefox is my favourite browser, I want to load up the file correctly in Firefox. Is there a way to do that without running a local HTTP server?

Recently when installed and switched from basic FireFox to FireFox Developer, I got enormous time the paint flashing when I switch from one tab to another tab.

Like in the screenshot below, but it gets even worse ... because parts are missing, color red, etc.

I have to refresh the page (f5) to get it normally.

Why is that?

When right clicking "inspect element" or arriving at that command via tools, or the hamburgers it launches right into inspect element without displaying the dev tools black screen with console, vue dev tools, etc.

This is the second time. I believe the first time I reinstalled FDE, I've just done that again.

Is there a visibility setting I'm missing?
