Last month I used the wootstalker.com site while shopping Woot.com during a woot off.
Ever since then, whenever I use Firefox, my browser will randomly play a sound that is one of the chimes on that wootstalker site (not the main woot site). It is the Zelda Chime. Normally that's my go to sound on wootstalker, but that day, I used the monkey just for fun. I distinctly remember that because that's why it was odd that I started hearing the zelda sound.
I've been very concerned about this because I didn't know what was doing it at first, and it seems to have spread from one computer to another (one Win 10, one Win 7). But if it's something in Firefox, maybe that's why, because I'm logged into my firefox account on both computers.
Today I was able to capture a screen shot of the Windows Volume Mixer while the sound was playing, so it is coming from a Firefox Plugin (see picture, if it loads).
My concern is that I have a subscription to BitDefender Total Security, so I have that running and I've done scans and it hasn't flagged anything. I also have AntiMalwareBytes running and ran scans, and it hasn't found anything. So if this is malware, it's something new or well hidden.
Hopefully it's just some glitch with the plugin in Firefox that's been synced between my machines, but either way, I'm tired of it happening, and I'd like to figure out what is causing it.
If there's any more information I can provide, please let me know. Thank you.
