This only happens on my default profile and other profiles are OK. I started firefox in safe mode (Add-ons disabled) and the problem still exist. I'm using firefox 39.0.3 on windows 7 and I don't want to update to a newer version.

When I start Firefox and only a blank page is shown, it still makes an https connection to cloudfront.net . It even does that after following all advice on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections . When testing, I disabled all addons, plugins and language packs, too.
Why does make Firefox make this connection? What is transmitted? How can I disable it?

Windows 7 x64 Firefox 39.0.3
I've always managed to play music files in Amazon until either a recent Windows or Firefox update - don't know which came first. Regardless now as Amazon apparently use m3u files & I don't seem to have a plugin for them it keeps wanting me to download or save them etc, which isn't what I want to do with a few dozen I want to sample.
I have the VLC media and WMP plugins both set to always active & have rebooted Firefox numerous times while working through this issue, but presumably neither of these work for m3u files?? I've read more posts about somewhat similar issues but none of the various fixes have worked for me e.g. about:options plugins - True (not sure exactly which one it was I had to change) . I've downloaded & tried installing a "media pack" for Win 7 but that didn't work either.
Never had this problem until recently through multiple updates of both Windows &/or Firefox so a bit stumped as to what else to do. The only file types mentioned in Options are mp3/4/mpeg4/wmp.
Appreciate any ideas. Thanks.
Why am I suddenly getting a warning that www.amazon.com is not safe? This has never happened before.
Please see attached file.

I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 last night. I tried connecting to facebook a few hours ago and find I can't get in. The error is, "This Connection is Untrusted", with, "This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate".
I've browsed the help forums, and have learned this is because I have Family Safety active and am trying to access the accounts on a "Child" account. One suggested fix is to disable Family Safety; that is not an option. I absolutely must have Family Safety for my laptop.
This thread proves greatly helpful: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1075301. I did the first answer philipp suggested, "Trust this CA to identify web sites", and I have confirmed this change.
Now whenever I try to access Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Youtube, etc., I get this: An error occurred during a connection to www.yahoo.com. Peer's certificate has an invalid signature. (Error code: sec_error_bad_signature)

I've ran out of ideas. I went back to the helpful thread and tried the next thing philipp suggested: going to the webpage, "https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2965142", and then clicking the, "known issues for Mozilla Firefox users" link. The problem with that is the instructions seem to be written for a touchscreen enabled device; I don't have a touchscreen device, I have a gaming laptop with no touchscreen.
I know it's a lot of information, but I would really appreciate anyone's help in my struggle to be able to access those sites without asking my mom to get on her administrator account when I want to access those websites.

I've just upgraded to Windows 10 and while trying to set up the parental controls I came across this issue.
When I open the Family website and try to look at the details for one of the kids in Firefox 39.0.3 the page just sits there saying "Loading..." indefinitely.
In Microsoft Edge it loads the data instantly.
See attached screenshots...
I tried disabling uBlock Origin which I have always running but that didn't make a difference... Has Microsoft done something to prevent us from using Firefox for these pages!?
Thanks a lot Thomas

Bug is shown in the attached image, including steps for producing the problem
Questions: 1. Is this a known bug? 2. What is the easiest way to get the bookmark updated with the updated icon? 3. Is the amount of bandwidth saved by the complex storage scheme for icons that saves some downloads worth the icons not updating due to bugs like this one? hint: The answer is no. Keeping favicons updated in browsers is always a hassle. It’s been like this ever since favicon came out. You need to change your whole approach, not just fix this bug.
Comment: it is amazing and wrong that so much effort goes into complicated browser caching to save every possible byte from an extra download. It would be fine if the process was not always riddled with bugs. It's not just firefox, its all browser makers catering to the least common denominator. The default should be set for broadband, not crappy internet in the middle of the arctic. If you want to support the arctic, then provide settings to change to low bandwidth mode. What you have done, and this icon thing is an example, is made you the browser error prone with complicated scheme that anyone with broadband totally doesn't need. When you find a way to make bugless software, fine. Till then, you need to reduce complexity to reduce bugs.
I cannot tell you how much it pisses me off to go through the whole rigamarole of putting all the different versions of my favicon into the sites' root directories, because that is the dumbass standard supported by browsers, then have to look to look at my old favicon, knowing that all my site users are still looking at my old favicon, in their bookmarks, and there is not a damn thing I can do about it, except to ask the volunteers who read this stuff to knock the developers heads out their ass and knock off this stupid practice of catering to the lame. Firefox is a technology leader. Lead from the front and let others catch up, and show some pride in your product by zealously avoiding bugs by pursuing simple vs. complex software. you can start by cancelling the caching of favicons. We can deal with downloading favicons along with rest of a web page, so that we can have the latest version. What we cannot deal with is an uncrackable cache storing the old icon.
I got around this by reinstalling firefox, saving the bookmark, which at that point got the new icon for that site, then importing my old bookmarks, which then had the new icon applied because I had saved before the import. What a pain in the ass.

Running Windows 10 Pro. Updated Firefox to v40.0. In Upper right corner, the Minimize, Full-Screen and Exit buttons did not work and hovering over any of them failed to highlight the button. I re-downloaded the update and re-installed, but problem still existed. As a test, I tried downgrading to v39.0.3, which fixed the problem. I realize that the downgrade may pose a security risk, but it works, and v40.0 doesn't! Prior to downgrading, I tried the Customize option, de-selecting and re-selecting the top menu bar, but neither helped. What next?

I upgraded to 40.0.0 today. I found a site with an RSS feed that I wanted to follow. I keep my RSS feeds in folders on my Bookmark Toolbar. I tried to load it to the appropriate folder, but it loaded to the toolbar itself. The feed showed new entries. I tried to move it to the proper folder and it stopped listing any RSS entries. I again tried to save the new feed to the proper folder. This time it did not appear on the Bookmark toolbar, but it did not appear in the folder I had said to load it to. I went back to 39.0.3 and it works properly. I am running the LiveClick addon, if that helps. I am posting using 39.0.3. All other extensions are what were in use under 40.0.0
