Am getting this error .. how do i solve ?

This problem popped up for the first time a few months ago. but I was able to work around it by by clicking on "I understand the risks" on the "This Connection Is Untrusted" warning page, and then by adding a security exception. That fix would work for random lengths of time... sometimes for days, sometimes for minutes. Now, after updating to the latest version of Firefox, I get the same security warning but the option to click "I Understand the Risks" is gone. I get this error message on the technical details page: (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer

I have done everything listed here many, many times: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/connection-untrusted-error-message I mean everything. Delete cert.db, start in safe mode, empty cache, delete and reinstall.... Nothing works.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, After update of firefox to version 39 i am unable to pay online bill, shopping bill etc and got this message "Secure Connection Failed

The page used to load in a new tab before I selected to Refresh Firefox. I cannot find out how to allow Firefox to open webpages in a new tab when selected from the tab in use.

FF has blocked Flashplayer and Java. I have updated both to latest versions BUT Java Deployment Toolkit 8.0.510.16 11.51.2.16 is still blocked and cannot be activated (or apparently updated). The option "ask to activate" is selected but does not do anything. "You cannot UNINSTALL this program because: Why I am not able to run the Java Uninstall tool and the Java verification applet? The Java Uninstall Tool and the Java verification applet uses the Java DT to do Java version detection on the user system. If Java DT is blocked by browser (like Firefox) than these applets will not run. In order to run these applets the user will have to permit Java DT to run in browsers." https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/deployment_toolkit.xml

So, there is a Catch 22. It needs to run itself to uninstall but it can't. How can this be resolved?

As an additional comment - flash and Java run in MS IE - which is considered less secure. Mozilla are forcing people to use an inferior product. Best Regards, Chris

I only get sound but no picture or image on YouTube-what to do? I am now using "Chrome" browser whenever I want to visit YouTube, I do not wish to use 2 browsers and I wish to stay with Firefox only. I have tried many solutions without any success. Help!!!!

In case other have come across this, the problem was due to the FlashBlock 1.5.18.1-signed add-on. The solution was to add:

amp.twimg.com

to the FlashBlock whitelist.

(I appreciate that this is not directly a Mozilla issue, but the FlashBlock add-on is a very useful one, and for some, it is invaluable)

Long time user of FF on my PC. Have now got a new Samsung Smart tv and would like to use FF on it. Can it be done, and if so, what exactly do I download, and from where?

I have Ubuntu 10.1 and want to install a new version of Firefox. I have downloaded the tar bz2 file from their website. I have it in my Downloads folder along with an extracted file folder Firefox. I guess I can remove the old version in Terminal with: sudo apt-get remove firefox. My question is, what Terminal command string do I use to install the new tar file? I guess it will have to point to the extracted folder or the tar file in my download folder.

I can run the new Firefox from the download firefox folder but it will not save any of my bookmarks when closed.

btw none of the older links work for install.

Recently large file (90+megs) downloads keep failing . The download started normally, downloads for a little, then idles out and fails with no error messages. I'm currently on Windows operating system and i even tried disabling all add-ons and scan functionality in my browser and it's not my IPS giving me grief either. I've also tried with other browsers such as Explorer and chrome and have no problems with them with the same file and location.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is getting really aggravating...

So while browsing the internet and watching videos flash became unresponsive and I stopped it and sent the crash report. When I refreshed the videos to allow them to buffer again I was prompted to allow flash (shock-wave player) to run. I never changed the setting to ask to activate before and I was done for me without my consent. When I tried to change that setting back to always activate, the option was greyed out so I am unable to actually chose this option and continue with my day. I would very much like to not have to deal with this since in my school flash is heavily used and this has become a very large annoyance that I would like to have rectified. Otherwise I'll be forced to stop using Firefox as this is too much of an extra hassle to have to deal with. Also when Updated to the latest version of flash player it did not rectify the issue.

Before installing windows 10 I forgot to save a list of the bookmarks I had on Firefox. The computer however saved a copy of all important program files in a folder called Windows.old on my C: disk. Is there any chance to retrieve the bookmarks from that folder? I tried to look at the files saved therein, but unfortunately I could not recognize anything useful. Disclaimer: I am definitely not very knowledgeable in IT! ;)

I had to restore my operating system. I was able to recover places.sqlite to restore bookmarks (good!). I was able to find a key3.db (dated July 2013) that file won't be complete or up to date, but at least it puts me somewhere ahead.

I read that I need a signon3.txt file to go with the key3. I don't have one. I did find a signons.sqlite file dated Sept 2014. I moved both these files to my profiles folder but I don't get my old passwords back.

Is it possible for me to use the old key3? Do the key3 and signons have to be dated the same? Is there a way to recreate the signons.txt?

I do have the master password.

I installed windows 10 today. No when I go to websites such as amazon on google I get an error.

So annoying, all was ok until today. Bloody Microsoft! I have re-installed Firefox but that does not cure the problem. Am temporarily using Chrome which does not have the bug, I can buy things from amazon and search in google and use my gmail and youtube accounts. Can anyone help me please? Many thanks.

This problem is not the fault of Firefox, everything works great in vanilla Firefox (Iceweasel). My main browser is the 'Light' fork of Firefox, but the question should relevant to vanilla Firefox as well. The trouble seems to be that the project has stripped the "Add Exception" page of one of it's dependencies out of the browser.

My question is: Is there a way to add certificate exceptions to firefox without using the warning page? It would seem that being able to do so manually would be extremely advantageous for bulk setups and amnesiac machines. The only real in-browser configuration in Light is about:config and I didn't see anything obvious there, but I'm no expert. Is there a config file somewhere that houses this? Can I somehow import exceptions from Iceweasel?

This problem is affecting a page that I have to visit dozens of times a day at work and so I appreciate any help I can get. As it stands, I have to copy and paste the link and manually s/https/http/ which is quite annoying, but is still not nearly enough to make Iceweasel preferable, sadly.

Why is it whenever there is a microsift upgrade everything else seems to get mucked up - one could almost imagine this is programmed in so regular is the problem - since the free upgrade windows 10 seems to be problems problems ........ mozilla keeps chucking up not responding etc - anyone any ideas?

When I open Firefix, there is a white band (sometimes blue) at top of screen that hides the navigation bar. I cannot take any action except perform one search as I cannot click on the invisible back arrow, bookmarks, shrink or close the screen. I have to close the browser by right click on Firefox icon in tray and click on close.

I recently installed windows 10 on my PC and just found out i can't watch anything on firefox with the flash player plug-in, it doesnt crash but instead of a video, the screen is just green but there's sound, and when trying it with other browsers, it works fine. I've attached an image to highlight this...
