I'm having problems with just some websites. They begin to load normally but never complete. So I can often see all or part of the page, but can't interact - e.g. I can get into an e-mail program (e.g. Yahoo) and maybe open an e-mail, but I'm unable to reply to it. Or only part of the page loads and then hangs. Or sometimes none of the page loads it just hangs for a half hour showing a white screen. Other sites load fully and normally.

This has happened with Yahoo Mail, Ebay, Hotmail and some other sites.

I got a notice today that Firefox had automatically downloaded an update (to 3.6.9). I have not told it to install yet, because I want to save the file to apply to 3 other computers without downloading it 4 times. (we have 2 desktops and 2 laptops running windows; I already know where the package manager cache is for the linux partitions.)

I've looked in %temp% (recursively), %userprofile%\application data\, %userprofile%\local settings\application data\,%allusersprofile%\application data, %allusersprofile%\local settings\application data,%programfiles%\common files\ , also checked application data and local settings\application data in Administrator, LocalService and NetworkService user subdirs... but there's no firefox subdir in any of those, either... and I looked in %programfiles%\Firefox\, of course... oh, and also in the Tools->Downloads folder... no luck.

Clicking the Details link on the notification dialog doesn't tell me where the downloaded file is.

I'd really rather not waste my bandwidth downloading the same multi-MB update 4 times. I've turned off the auto-update now, but where is the auto-downloaded file stored, and why do you make it so hard to find???

I can hardly believe nobody's asked this before, but I searched for it a half dozen different ways before I gave up and posted this.

This doesn't happen with any other websites. It's extremely slow to scroll, load pages, etc. and whenever I have a Facebook tab open it slows down the whole browser. The browser goes back to normal speed as soon as the Facebook tabs are closed. The worst is when I am typing a message or comment on Facebook - especially messages - it lags behind my actual typing speed so badly that I have to stop and wait for the characters to catch up to me, sometimes for several minutes just to finish a single sentence before I can move on. It's making it extremely difficult to use as a communication tool and I'm not sure what to do about it.

I use to have the measurit add and have now reinstalled it. It doesn't come up on the bar along the bottom. I have picker and it works. I have been through the Tools-Addon and it is installed. How do I get this to show up so I can use this great addon. Thanks

How do I turn on the pop-up blocked message? When the message came up I clicked on Do not show this message again. I want this message to show when Firefox blocks a pop-up so I can allow the pop-up if I want to.

I would like to change somehow some of my "Bookmarked page's little picture" in the bookmark toolbar, because some of them do not have any picture at all and since I am usually deleting the whole word description of the bookmark, it makes me quite lost when I am trying to find them in my bookmarks toolbar.

I ran into a curious problem trying to use Google search. Found a solution. But not certain what caused the problem.

When I tried to refine a search (modify text in their search text box) the browser would not refresh on hitting return or their search button. I had to enter the updated search in the Firefox search control (at top right).

The problem did not occur when using IE 8 or Google Chrome. And I did not have the submit problems with other web sites.

I tried re-installing Firefox while maintaining bookmarks, passwords, history, but that did not fix the problem.

However when I completely uninstalled Firefox and then performed a clean installed the Google search page worked as expected.

It is possible that I had some malware, specifically the Flash exploit, as Firefox is my primary browser. I am not certain and only guessing Figure I should pass on my experience in case others run into the same problem.

My solution was: 0. Make certain have all login/passwords for websites. 1. Export my bookmarks to the JSON file. 2. Uninstall Firefox with "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" checked. 3. Re-install Firefox using fresh download. 4. Import bookmarks 5. Restore Add-ons. 6. Download Flash 10.1 and install (NOTE: Checked for but no additional add-on following this install)

Then Google search pages worked as expected.

I'm subscribed to a membership site and when I click on their Forums it opens up in a pop up window. The problem is, when the pop up comes up, I have no File Menu, Bookmarks Toolbar, etc. All I have is an address bar.

How do I get the Menus to show like normal in this pop up window?

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and I use the keyboard a lot to scroll and copy from the browser. Neither of these things are working. Hitting the keys that usually control scroll does nothing and hitting ctrl-c whilst text is selected has no effect. I can enter text into form fields (obviously :) ) but I can't tab between them.

I have googled this and keep coming up with it being an issue with caret browsing being enabled. Toggling caret browsing does not help me.

At the top of my browser page I used to have File, Edit, Tools, Options, Help etc. well that has vanished. How do I get them back?

Problem: All tabs/websites return a "Server not found" error message. History: I updated Ubuntu today 8-10-12 to 10.04.4 LTS kernel 2.6.32-42. I assume that an update of Firefox came with the Ubuntu update. Troubleshooting Information says that I am using Firefox version 14.0.1. The desktop with the updated Ubuntu is connected to a DSL modem which in turn is connected to the phoneline in. There are no filters, no other computers, no routers, and no phone connected to this line. When I disconnected the desktop from the modem and connected the laptop in its place, internet access was okay. The laptop runs older versions of Ubuntu and Firefox. This means that the problem is not in the line or the modem or the ISP. I am posting this question using the laptop, so any system information retrieved automatically is about the wrong computer, operating system, and version of Firefox. I copied the correct information from the malfunctioning desktop to the Troubleshooting Information box below. I tried all of the Help suggestions that I could find during three hours of attempts to solve this problem, but they all blame a firewall that I can't find in Ubuntu. Thanks for any help!

Certain sites (such as http://xkcd.com/789/) use meta text to add more information, etc. when you run the mouse over the picture. This feature isn't working for me.

I have MS Office Pro Plus 2007 installed on my computer. I also have MS Office 2003 installed on another computer. Snapshot viewer is installed on both. My work snapshot files works with MS Office Access 2003 but not recognized by MS Office Access 2007. It would not allow me to save them either! Is it a problem with FireFox (3.6.8)? However, I do not have problem opening them up using IE7/8 on both computers. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a new desktop computer running Win 7, 64 bit. When I use Firefox version 3.6.8 to display my website it displays all out of alignment. If I use IE 8.0 it displays fine. If I use my laptop which runs Win XP the site displays fine with both IE 8.0 and Firefox. I therefore assume there maybe a problem with Win 7, 64 bit and Firefox working properly together. Is there a solution available to help solve this problem or do I have to wait until Firefox is released in a 64 bit version?

Yesterday, my yahoo will not load properly. It is spaced out, not formatted, no graphics, etc. I can get to my mail by clicking through the word Mail but cannot read the front page. Have used FF for months with no problem. Thanks.
