Previously, the icons for add-ons (e.g., noscript, the weather, or reminders) were displayed at the bottom of my screen, and I could click on them to perform the relevant function. Now they are not displayed, and I don't know how to get them back. I'm particularly interested in getting back noscript, as I almost always use it, but I regularly accessed a lot of add-ons from the now-missing information bar. I don't even know what this information/icon bar/display is called.

Hi,

Thanks for any help in advance.

Of course the new Firefox is messing with me...But I have one specific question...

Facts...

1) I own a iMac...17 inch...So I can open lots and lots of tabs at once.

2) I just rebooted my computer back to brand new.

3) I'm working on finding all my old stuff, but can't seem to find two specific items...

In the previous version, and before I rebooted, I had about 40 tabs (Including Cluster Tabs) opening-up whenever I started a browse session. But now, I can't seem to control the size of the tabs, so they get less narrow as I had them?

I've already downloaded "Vulcanize Tabs" but that's no help...I think it was a specific theme that allowed me to do this, but many of the themes don't work with this new version of Firefox.

I suspect I'll just have to wait until the themes are updated? Or, do you have a better idea?

Also...

I want to get rid of the "X" on each tab and only have a close tab button on the far right of my tabs navigation bar.

Any help?

If so, thanks again!

Ps...Is there a way to reverse my downloading of this newest Firefox version and go back to the previous one until this new one gets many of the bugs worked-out?

I never save passwords - never have, never will. Using evil IE, Gmail works correctly in that it prompts me for ID and password for each new browser instance. Yet when I open gmail with FF, it goes straight to my inbox without prompting for ID or password. I use gmail in "always secure" mode. Cookies are enabled, of course, just did not expect my password to be saved and loaded from a cookie. How can I rectify this problem?

I may be a sloppy typist, but I'm forever hitting Ctrl-i instead of capitol I, as well as whatever combination takes you forward, back and sideways. I never use them, except for Ctrl-t, which is useful, and the touchpad on my new laptop makes this much worse. I lost several paragraphs in Gmail tonight, when the browser went back. Forward went to an empty page, hardly the first time this has happened. Is it possible to disable the damnable things? This is on Fedora 13 with version 3.63.

Zoom is driving me nuts! I use multiple tabs and windows, and to maximize screen space I need to make some pages very small. In IE each window can be zoomed independently- but with firefox they all change if you change any window's zoom. I've tried NoSquint add-on and it adds site-specific zoom, which is still not what I need. Surely there's an add-on that allows each window to have its own zoom level.

I have been using FF for several years now - mainly for its vastly superior customisability in the form of add-ons. My main computer was WinXP-32, though I recently bought a new laptop with Win7-64 installed. This problem was never experienced on my WinXP machine.

Brief description of problem:

After a time of having FF up and running, the minimize/maximize/restore/close buttons in the top-right no longer work as expected and, if not maximised, I cannot move the window around my desktop nor resize the browser window. When clicked, the buttons will rapidly flash on and off continuously without appearing to perform any noticeable function other than temporarily hogging CPU cycles. I've found that clicking (sometimes double clicking) in the main browser window then mousing over the buttons again seems to stop them flashing, though does nothing else.

To minimize/maximize/restore/move/close the window(s), I have to right-click on the relevant tab in my taskbar and pick the desired option. Occasionally, however, even this doesn't work and the right-click menu will disappear as soon as I move the mouse over it after right-clicking. 'Show desktop' is a temporary fix for minimising windows and 'ALT + F4' or 'CTRL + W' for closing windows or tabs. This isn't satisfactory and to move or resize a window, I have to close the window in question (sometimes all other windows too), reopen it and do what I need to do, though sometimes even this is only a very short fix. If I have to close all the windows, FF will sometimes keep running for a while afterwards, even though no windows are actually open - simply ending the process via the windows task manager will fix this though is only a work-around, not a fix.

One thing I have noticed is that if I manage to move the browser window (when not maximised), for a short period afterwards I can often resize the window successfully. This is more likely to occur if the browser window is not flush with the edge of my screen once moved.

I've tried to include as much information as I can - most of which was determined after several minutes/hours of playing around with different scenarios, trying to manually reproduce particular problems or simply through sheer luck of happening to click in the right place at the right time! I hope there is a reasonably fix for this at some point in the not-too-distant future. For some purposes, I am now reduced to using Opera or Chrome though I would love to be able to use FF as my only browser again.

I noticed in some of the threads where people have voiced problems similar to mine, that a link to 'ObjectDock' was discovered in some cases. I do have 'ObjectDock 1.90 Plus' installed on my machine and use it in many ways and so decided to see if I could find a connection between the two. I have uninstalled, tested, and reinstalled both programs in a multitude of ways, though could find no conclusive corrolation between having both bits of software running or installed at the same time and the problems I am experiencing. In my case, at least, this does not appear to be an answer.

Sorry for such a long question... If you need to know anything more, just let me know!

- James
