I have not updated Mozilla, Windows, etc or installed add-ins. Recently I opened Mozilla and all of my current tabs were closed and I was not given the option to restore. I went into my History to try and recreate as best I could and found my History had been wiped as well. I then discovered that I cannot access my bookmarks. Online I found how to restore these but it doesn't work. I pulled up a page that I knew I'd saved and, while the bookmark star is blued out, I cannot find the bookmarks. Oddly, while my bookmarks seem to save every couple of days, the last time my backup bookmarks saved was 3/1/15. At that time, I had 1676 bookmarks! What can I say, I've been saving stuff for a very long time! Anyway, I want to be able to get these back to being available but, as I said, the restore function says it cannot restore them.

Again, I did nothing different from the time Mozilla was in full working condition until it basically wiped about everything out. Nothing. No installs, updates, etc., of any kind.

Just in the last few days some major websites have not been opening - Google, BT Yahoo, and Facebook, yet some lesser known ones which I use are working well. The following message appears after a prolonged period (10-20 seconds) :

"Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.google.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s).

Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap"

Due to the fact that Google is one of the problematic sites I can't even Google it, although when I ask a friend to do so, the results seem to point to a problem within Firefox. I am unsure if this is correct, as IE is also problematic with these sites too. I have scanned my PC for viruses and it appears to be clean. My ISP has checked and they can see no problems with the network. I can also ping external sites, as well as the router itself. I don't seem to recall these issues until the latest update was installed, although that might be coincidence.

Any help will be gratefully received.

I have made several temporarily successful attempts to change the value for 'browser.newtab.url' in 'about:congif' to a URL. Once I close Firefox 29.0.1 and reopen it, my new tabs open to the default new tab page. How can I make this change permanent?

Hi all,

I am using the new Firefox Sync on 3 computers( work, home desktop and home laptop ) but it stopped working on my laptop only, I have tried disconnectiong and connection again but nothing helps, tried clicking Sync Now as well, but nothing.

The problem is with both Addons and Bookmarks , the changes I make on my laptop do not transfer to my 2 other computers

When I try to log into my bank account a webpage comes out saying that my firefox is incompatible with internet banking! I would like to know if firefox can be made compatible with internet banking! Thank you very much!

I am using Firefox 29.0.1, and it fails to end the process after opening Gmail. I am using the standalone Linux build on Ubuntu 10.04. All add-ons have been removed, and the theme is set to default. I have deleted the default profile and created a new one. I have also cleared browsing history, cookies, cache, etc., and reset Firefox.

During normal browsing, the process will close in about 1 second after exit. After checking Gmail, the process hangs continuously. I have waited for over 5 minutes for the process to close in Firefox 29, but I eventually had to kill it. This bug occurs every time I check Gmail. I have tested the latest Beta version, and the problem persists. I have also modified the History settings as mentioned in other posts, but the process still remained after exit. Please advise if additional information would be helpful.

Like so many others, I find the ongoing and worsening memory leaks a real disappointment -and now getting worse since V28 on both of my W7 machines.

I am now on FFox V30, and while it starts out at about 300MB, after a few hours it grows to be typically 2.xGB.

I have run the about:memory several times, but don't know how to use the results to any advantage. It appears that about 7 tabs each use about a 1/3-GB of memory.

I typically will have 5-6 windows open, a total of 20-30 tabs.

I have seen several threads on this, but none with any resolution, and dating back to V4 (about 2006)!

Is there any hope, or way to resolve, or just need to jump to Chrome?

Hi! I'm using Firefox 29.0.1 on Windows 8, (also up-to-date), and Flash plug-in won't work. I re-downloaded & installed Adobe Flash 13.0.0.214...I verified it on their website, but I can't get the plugin to work. I had no problem with it earlier today, but for some reason it won't work anymore. PLEASE HELP! Thank you, Nuts4Mutts  :(

When I go to sites such as Google, Twitter, And Youtube, I receive a message saying "This website does not supply ownership information." I am allowed to add an exception, but in some cases, the message shows up again, even with the existing exception....

There seems to be some regression in the latest version of Firefox. I cannot connect with PayPal at all, receiving the message: "Unable to connect - Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.paypal.com." Using the exact same settings I am able to connect with Firefox 25 and 28. I have restarted in safe mode--no avail. Firefox 25 finds PayPal with normal browsing--Safe Mode off, as does 28.

After upgrading to the latest version, 30.0, the right-click functions to Open link in New Tab or New Window stopped working. When I click the link that I would like to open in new tab or window, the right click window appears, I click on the desired function, and the right click window closes and nothing happens.

I restarted in safe mode and the problem remains. I am using Windows XP. I also tried uninstalling Firefox and then doing a clean re-install and that didn't help.

For now I went back to using version 29.0.1. Yes, I know that it isn't as safe but I can't use Version 30. without the right-click options!!!

I really wish the developers would focus on fixing bugs, vulnerabilities, etc. and leave the basic functions alone! The old saying if it isn't broken don't "fix" it!!!!!

I have had a problem with FF crashing when I print. This happens in Safe mode, as well as standard. Following instructions, I reset FF. No crash. I reset the home page to one of my choice, and crash occurred. I tried a couple of others (after resetting, again,) and the same thing happened.

This may be something to look at. As long as I have the default home page in place, I can print.

I've been using Firefox for a hundred years, and have 550 gazillion cookies. I like cookies. (I'm an affiliate marketer and people who advise my customers to delete their cookies drive me nuts.) I'd like to delete cookies > 5 years old. How can I do that?

(By the way, can you tell whomever administers this forum that the emails it sends to reset passwords aren't structured properly? That's why my email provider--GoDaddy--says they're not delivering those emails from you. The forum never accepts my passwords, and trying to reset does nothing, so every time I want to ask a question I have to create a new account.)

I have the setting: Startup - When firefox starts - show windows and tabs from last time. This almost always works, but not today. The odd thing is that all the tabs are still there, including the pinned ones on the left (square empty boxes), but all the tabs are blank ("New tab"). Except one that appeared on startup, the one that was active when i closed FF last night. If I click on History - Show all history = No items. Restore previous session is greyed out, as are Recently closed tabs and windows. It looks bad, what can I do to restore the previous session? How would this have happened, and how can I prevent it in future? Did the last FF update (today or yesterday) have anything to do with it?

I don't know what I did. But the menu button from the new firefox that I just downloaded is gone. How do I get it back? How can I rearrange items in the toolbar? I thought you could just drag and drop them. Now, there's no reload button, the home button is way off to the right, the address bar takes up too much space. How can I get the flexibility of the old firefox back?

I've added several add-on icons to my tool bar for easy use, however a couple of them disappear if I click on a link in an email or website only to re-appear when I go back to the main page. This doesn't happen if I first "Right Click" on the link and select "Open in a new Tab". Then the icons remain in place. Not all of my icons disappear only 3 at this point. In addition, one of the add-on icons mysteriously disappears every once in a while, and reverts back to the section with other Icons ("Additional Tools and Features") that can be added when you open Customize. I'm running the latest version of FF. Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

I raised this topic a few months ago and I never was able to fix it and went back to Firefox 29 which has been fine. I would like to know (or find out) if Firefox 31 has fixed it but if not I want to be able to come back to 29.

The symptom was that when I tried to start Firefox all I got was a very brief flash of the main window then it vanished. No error messages. No crash reports. Running Windows XP on a Dell Laptop.

Can anyone help please?

My 'old' Firefox crashed a bit ago, and the 'new' version installed on me. All my add ons & book marks are gone, including several saved sessions.

I tried restoring to a default state, and also found the Old Firefox data file on my desktop. Please help!

Note- I'm pretty 'computer illiterate', too.

search engines show and allow me to type into them but will not respond when I enter or press search. Even when I click onto an address in favorites. Also went to trouble shooting to look into resetting Mozilla and it explains "this is embarrassing," something about pages still open but I have closed and reopened before reset.

I'm looking at three different pc's - two are on a domain, the other is from a different domain and network. All three systems report that "updates are disabled by your system administrator" in the help, about firefox screen.

To my knowledge, the system administrator team (myself and co-workers) have not done anything to disable this. It also seems odd that a random laptop not related to my business' domain would have the same error.

What is causing the updates to be disabled? How can this be enabled?
