My Firefox browser just updated to version 143.0.1. When the browser reopened, there was an instructional page that opened in a new tab describing the Unload Tab function. I followed the instructions, right-clicked on the tab, the drop down menu appeared, but there wasn't an Unload Tab option. However, there was a Reload Tab option shown.

How do I resolve this? I'm using a macOS 15.6.1.

For many years, I've used a utility called DropZone in my menubar, which (among other things) allows documents to be automatically sorted into user-created locations (e.g., folders in the Finder).

Last night, suddenly, each time I drag a photo from Firefox to DropZone, a large window called "Action Console" opens, displaying a bunch of text. Here's a typical message that's displayed:

[Launching task with command line: runner.rb task-26498]

Task description file task-26498:

ACTION: "/Applications/- Misc. apps/Dropzone 4.app/Contents/Actions/Move Files.dzbundle" EVENT: "dragged" VARIABLE: "support_folder" "/Users/mervynwarren/Library/Application Support/Dropzone" VARIABLE: "dragged_type" "files" VARIABLE: "app_version" "4.80.66" VARIABLE: "apple_silicon" "1" VARIABLE: "os_version" "26.0.0" VARIABLE: "path" "/Users/mervynwarren/Pictures/iTunes art" VARIABLE: "tmp_folder" "/var/folders/7l/ldzhrwyx1v1dy2tky3c1_y640000gn/T/"

Determinate: 1 Begin_Message: Moving files... /Applications/- Misc. apps/Dropzone 4.app/Contents/Actions/lib/filecopy.rb:13:in `do_copy': undefined method `each' for nil:NilClass (NoMethodError) from /Applications/- Misc. apps/Dropzone 4.app/Contents/Actions/Move Files.dzbundle/action.rb:27:in `dragged' from /Applications/- Misc. apps/Dropzone 4.app/Contents/Actions/lib/runner.rb:77:in `call' from /Applications/- Misc. apps/Dropzone 4.app/Contents/Actions/lib/runner.rb:77:in `<main>'

[Task completed]

Ironically, although the last line says "Task completed," the task I was attempting to perform (moving a photo into a given folder) is in fact NOT comleted at all.

Further observations:

This behavior is not displayed in Safari. In Safari, images continue to be moved to the desired folder, as intended.

I googled "action console keeps opening in Firefox," and I performed 4 troubleshooting steps that google AI suggested (including launching Firefox into troubleshooting mode). Unfortunately, in troubleshooting mode, the behavior persists, which suggests that this has nothing to do with any add-ons.

I also created a new, test profile—but even in the test profile, the behavior persists.

So, I'm stumped. After years of using Firefox, this behavior has appeared out of nowhere—and I cannot figure out why, nor how to fix it.

Any further suggestions?

Hi, so my problem is I need to keep using the keyboard for surfing the net on my Windows PC, because of pain issues with using the mouse too often. The most difficult part is that Firefox comes with a lot of these top-most balloons with feature suggestions like "did you know you can use an AI bar now..." etc.

Btw, I don't mean any popups from websites. Mozilla just shows the feature info balloons (or tool tips?) when you are on a website, but it's never the website that bothers me.

There is no way to hide these mozilla popups using the keyboard except opening a new tab with Ctrl+T.

So... is there anything to get rid off all feature-news or mozilla-suggesions etc?

Thank you!

Just wanted to drop in here and give an update to my original post detailing how to hide the tabs and address bar when in fullscreen mode, using the View/Toolbars/Bookmarks Toolbar/Never Show command. With this css in place and the preferences set, toggling the bookmarks toolbar in fullscreen mode will toggle everything at the top of the FF window (but won't do that unless fullscreen is active).

This code changed recently (like, today) because the "collapsed" attribute from the #PersonalToolbar item no longer toggles between "true" and "false" when the user hides/shows the toolbar — instead, the "collapsed" attribute disappears entirely when the toolbar is showing, and reappears to be assigned the value "" (yes, empty) when the toolbar is hidden.

--- Here's the CSS. It goes into a text file called "userChrome.css".

root[sizemode="fullscreen"] #navigator-toolbox:has(#PersonalToolbar[collapsed=""]) {
 visibility: collapse;

}

--- On the Mac, here's the location. The CSS file then goes into a "chrome" folder in the "Profiles" folder located within your Mac user account's "Library" folder (not the Profiles folder within the Library folder on the root of the system drive, but the one in your computer account Home folder). You'll probably need to create the chrome folder. Just put the CSS above into a text file, name that file "userChrome.css" and drop it in the location shown below. Quit Firefox first, of course.

/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/chrome/

--- You'll also need to set the about:config options in Firefox to allow legacy user profile customizations. Go to about:config in the browser, and search for "toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets" and set this preference to "true".

--- The code only updated slightly today. See my original "question" here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1448596#

Hi, I just want to ask about the customization option on the new tab's low right corner (the little pencil icon). I've had a background image called "Galaxy" that i thought was pretty, but it disappeared (probably sync settings on other devices, idc) and now the background is just system gray. The issue is that i cannot find the system background in "Themes" nor in the "Customization" (picrel) - there is only "reset to defaults". I really like Firefox and this was pretty cool so I'd like it back. Thanks in advance :)

I've been trying to get Firefox to save cookies for a few desired websites (bank, investment accounts website, Sync... and of course Firefox/Mozilla itself) so I don't have to constantly use the 2FAs for those accounts. Firefox refuses to keep me logged in to my Mozilla/Firefox account. Every few hours -- or at the very least, after a machine shut-down -- I have to re-login if I re-start Firefox.

I do not use the Firefox Password Manager; it's unchecked in Settings. Nor do I use the Autofill options in Settings. I use the Bitwarden Extension (set to Never for locking/logout -- because this is a home computer) for Firefox to log in to my sites, with a separate authenticator app, Authy.

The Firefox Privacy & Security Settings for tracking cookie blocking are the Standard ones; I haven't done anything to customize them. Further down on that page, I've tried leaving the box blank for clearing cookies on exit. I've tried checking the box and setting up exceptions for those few sites I'd like to login to without having to go through the 2FA rigamarole. I've done multiple Refreshes, clearing of History, uninstall/reinstalls including deletion of every Firefox profile and anything hinting at a connection to Mozilla or Firefox in all Users on the computer, including all the AppData folders. A few days ago, I even deleted the Mozilla/Firefox account and set up a new one with a different email address.

Nothing seems to work. Most recently, Firefox still had all the relevant cookies after the computer was shut down overnight, but an hour into my day's work, after closing Firefox and re-opening it a short while later, all the cookies are gone once again!

None of this was an issue about three months ago. I could save the desired cookies, get rid of other ones, use private browsing, etc. etc., with basically the same set-up and with the Mozilla/Firefox account I had had for years. Now, I've had to delete that account in an apparently vain effort to try to clear out anything "Mozilla" from this computer -- and it didn't work anyhow.

(I posted about this same issue a week or so ago, but didn't receive any responses and have now deleted that Mozilla/Firefox account -- see above -- so this message is an update.)
