In the last day or two I have noticed a pop up saying " Firefox Plug-in HD Video Player is missing: " with an icon to install the plugin.

I searched around the net and found only one sight saying, " this is malware or a phishing program so do not download and just ignore. I am still able to watch movies and what not online but the message is just so damn annoying.

I am using adblock but it is not blocking that message. I am not really sure what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the most current version of Adobe Flash installed but still can't play videos that play fine with Safari. Don't know if it an extension, plug-in, or ? problem.

When I click on a video, I don't get a message such as missing plug-in or anything. I just get a page with a blank space where the video should be.

How do I get ride of the dreadful CONDUIT SEARCH which has colonised my Firefox search like computer Herpes? I have tried a few of the replies but nothing has helped - it appears nowhere on any program list and even the following didn't do the trick :-

Owner AnonymousUser 1 year ago Several tried to but no one seemed to understand the real problem. I COULD, because it was mine too. So it follows the only ultimate solution:

1. Open Firefox 2. On the address bar, type – about:config in the URL. Press Enter. 3. You will be warned about Warranty. Click on “I’ll be careful…”

4. On the Filter dialog box type – search.conduit 5. It will display all related entries. Right-click on Preferences Name and Reset. It worked for me, after trying a dozen of "fake" solutions. ;)

Other than serious chainsaw work, any ideas?

Unable to install Adobe Flash Player 11 or any other version. "download timeout" shows and download interrupts within 7%....why is this problem occuring?

I was having issues with Videos playing so figured I had to update my Flashplayer, but when I tried to update it kept failing to install and on the Control Panel for Windows XP I clicked on the Flashplayer Icon and went to the Advanced Tab and it states that there are no ActiveX Control installed but I know I have ActiveX version 10 installed due to some Games I have installed on the PC. So I was wondering how FireFox worked with or around the ActiveX Controls. This is for my piece of mind and future reference as I do all my own Tech Support for my PC and am self taught through trial and error about XP. Am running an Intel Celeron processor, 697MHz with XP Service Pack 3, FireFox 12.0, 192MB of SD RAM. Yeah it's old but it works for what I do. LOL Anyway any info on this would be appreciated.

About an hour ago Facebook's home page stopped displaying properly in Firefox. I tried re-logging into Facebook only to discover that the logon page is also displaying all wrong. I'm having no trouble with Internet Explorer or Google Chrome so the problem seems to be between Firefox and Facebook. I have not downloaded/installed any new add-ons. The problem appeared while I was in Facebook.

There seem to be a few threads about this topic, however none have answered/resolved my questions.

I set up an account on an airline website to manage frequent flier miles etc., and the first time I logged in, Firefox dutifully asked if I would like the page to "Remember Password?". I selected "Remember Password" and navigated around the site a bit. I then closed my browser. I opened it again, went back to the site, and my password was supplied, however not my username. So I went to Tools-->Options-->Security-->Saved Passwords and cleared the entry for this site from the list.

Why doesn't Firefox ask me to "Remember Password?" anymore? It is not on my Exceptions list. I have cleared cookies etc., but checked all settings, and still, the page will not ask me to "Remember Password?" again, even though it did the first time and worked.

How can I FORCE Firefox to "Remember Password?" Is there a way I can just input it, or at least prompt Firefox to ask me again?

So, I've already tried going into about:config and resetting or changing the keyword.URL to default or google as was suggested in other questions dealing with the same issue. I think that this problem arose when a friend wanted to watch something on veoh and it said it needed a plugin. When she downloaded it, it put a bunch of stuff on my computer which I removed. Or so I thought. I can't find any trace of the stuff now, but when I first opened firefox after this, my home page had been changed to the search-results.com homepage so I changed it back thinking everything would be good. However, now when I search in the bar provided on the default home page or just in the address bar it redirects my search to search-results.com instead of google. But just going to and using google is fine. I also went and checked on internet explorer and it had search-results as well which I was able to get rid of and google chrome had said something had tried to change settings but was blocked. The only thing that I can't seem to get rid of it in is my firefox! I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox and it's still there. Also I did a scan with malwarebytes and it removed some things but I don't know if they were related in anyway to this problem. Thanks!

I am presently re-establishing a consultancy business that I ran a few years ago and consequently, am building a WordPress-based website. As I am in a very preliminary stage of development, I set up a local host on wamp server so I could play around with my website project.

On the day this wamp server set up was completed, I was able to activate the WordPress platform, and imported and installed the Weaver II theme. I then switched off my computer for the night. However, on switching on the next morning, I ran into a curious technical problem.

I use Firefox 12 as my browser and every time I entered 'localhost', or 'localhost/wp-admin.php', or any localhost-based word combination, I get automatically redirected to an AltaVista search result (the address that appears in my URL box replacing ‘localhost’ is:

http://us.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=altavista&itag=ody&q=http://localhost/wp-admin/themes.php.

Is there a reason for this? Do you think I did something wrong in my installation, although everything seemed to be working apparently normally the night before?

From my layman’s viewpoint, it seems to me that Firefox is confusing the ‘localhost’ request to open an internal file with an external search request for an item called ‘localhost’.

Any suggestions, advice to fix this?

What's up. Why would you disable the scroll bars? This makes NO sense.

After the lastest Firefox updates the Java platform quick working and I've tried everything suggested to get it to work again (I've gone through all the help suggestions listed) and nothing has worked. I need java for my business and have always been a huge fan of Firefox however this is a major issue as without java I cannot keep using Firefox. I have even tried uninstalling both Firefox and Java and followed all instructions to see if that worked and it did not fix the issue. Everything is up to date and there seems to be no fix for this. Is there something I'm missing? If this cannot be fixed I'm going to have to stop using Firefox. This is a major setback for Firefox and I'm not sure why they released a new version if this was going to happen. It says to try updating my graphics driver however this is a bit past my "expertise" and a person shouldn't have to take their computer in to a repair shop just to use Firefox or get this type of thing done. I have NO CLUE what the graphics driver is or how to check to update it, let alone if this will even work and am not going to risk messing my computer up to see if this will work. Java works on IE and Chrome perfectly fine and there should be no reason it doesn't work on Firefox.

When I load up iGoogle and click the Gmail tab in the top menu I get "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." and like it says never completes.

I have the official Gmail gadget on my iGoogle desktop, and instead of displaying my inbox says "Please re-enter your password to see your information. (Why?)" so I clicked this (the "Please re-enter your password" and "Why?" part were links) and made sure the URL looked safe just in case it was some phishing scam, and it looked fine. My details were already in the username and password boxes and when I log in the message "Please re-enter your password to see your information. (Why?)" pops up again in the Gmail gadget window, same happens if I try and re-enter my details.

I've opened up Chrome and IE and Gmail and the iGoogle gadget work fine with both of these.

It's strange because Gmail and the iGoogle Gmail gadget has been working fine until now, and there have been no network or hardware changes on my end.
