Mozilla has no true feedback page any more, so I chose to post here. I kept the "Allow Firefox to install and run studies" box unchecked since I began to use the Firefox browser (years ago). While I was researching a different issue, I found other users' posts about app.normandy. They all said that it allowed Mozilla to do what Mozilla promised not to do: run studies in violation of users' preference to opt out. Based on what I learned from those posts, I found where app.normandy was in my computer's about:config and toggled it to false. I want to thank those other users for their posts. Mozilla's explanation, also according to those posts, is that "Normandy is a collection of servers, workflows, and Firefox components that enables Mozilla to remote control Firefox clients in the wild based on precise criteria." Aside from whether or not Mozilla should be remote-controlling clients in this way, does it really consider all the diverse places in the world where its users live to be "in the wild?"

For the past several updates, it seems that Mozilla is becoming a form of bloatware, trying to be all things to all people. Many of us have been involved in the use of computers for 30 years or so, have got our systems to do what we wish to do - we are not gamers, not webpage entrepreneurs, code-writers etc. who marvel in making programme monstrosities.

My system is set up for the disabled - employing VoIP, IP etc. and you f*k it up with your 'forced' changes - yes, they are supposed to be optional, but you throttle and throttle until we have to push 'yes' to update and then we have to trim away what is necessary - in my instance - tools for the disabled of which you don't seem to give a merde. You are all in your own little worlds and don't realize the breadth of the Mozilla community and who uses it - PARTICULARLY FOR SURVIVAL NEEDS - who do not fit into your preoccupations with becoming bigger and better.

Perhaps you might come out with a slimmed down - remove the McD fats and salt - version so that the rest of us can continue to use Mozilla without it causing out computers from shutting down - which has been a problem since the past 3 updates.

They pretty much suck. Take away options for the user and force options Firefox wants us to use. For example, my ony choice to NOT use Firefox blocking mechanisms is the "enable them" the de-select everything, why not have a "don't enable" option? I mean ffs!

I run script blockers canvasblocker and WebRTC controls in my browser. I have an antivirus that stops virus's, a malicious program app that stops adware/spyware/PUP's, crypto miners. I have a firewall running IP/domain name blocking and SNORT which I have train over the years to prevent all of the above. I use DoT (DNS over TLS) on a private DNS server and in about 3 months when I have time will be running my own DoT server BEHIND my firewall so I don't have to rely on an outside server for that.

The ONLY way to ensure you privacy and protection is to take care of it yourself. Relying on corporations to do it is simply another security breach AFAIK.

I mean Firefox, Microsoft, Google, Amazon Cloud may all have your best interest in mind but probably not. Data and browsing habits are whats in for making money and every corporation wants in.

Pay me. You want my data and browsing habits then pay me.

I donate to every single "free" software I use every single time I purchase a new PC or device. These donations amount to a tidy sum every 2-3 years.

You know what? Make an option heavy, user choice saturated browser and I'll buy it from you. Force me to upgrade every 3-5 years I'll do that. but PLEASE STOP taking my choices away!! I already feel like a slave in this society. FFS stop bringing it to my attention.

Firefox used to be far and away above all other browsers. It had apps that made the browsing experience significantly better than other browsers, you had a bookmarks bar that you could not only organize your favs but add information about a site in the extended Properties dialog box, and you could quickly load any site and view any steaming vids. Now, all browsers have apps but Firefox updates so often it forces the best apps to become nonfunctioning and many of the developers even stopped updating their apps. As for the bookmarks bar, every browser has one now and Firefox no-longer has the extended Properties dialog box so there is nothing special there anymore. And the streaming vids are so iffy I am typically forced to watch network channels on other browsers. Yeah, you may have a hundred methods for fixing your broke browser which I have to systematically make my way through instead of making right the first time, but I shouldn’t have to do it. So my question is, are you going to be making a browser that is ahead of the curve again or are you still going to be putting out the status quo with every update? Which seems to be every other week.

I have been a long time chrome user, but I wanted to switch things up, and tried firefox 66, but there are just some things I can't get over. These are a few things that annoy me when using firefox: - not a fan of the scrolling mechanics (I use smoothscroll) even tried changing values in about:config but was never satisfied. It seems slow and unresponsive. - when I launch my browser, I configured it to launch 3 tabs, but I only want to load the first (selected) tab, and wait until I select the others for them to load, I haven't found any option to do this. Also, I'd like an option to not automatically switch to new tabs when middle-clicking on a link or pressing "open in new tab" on a link. - I was never a fan of the search history window, and I really think it needs an update, it looks old and I never understood why the order is so weird (not chronological). The history tab in chrome is something I miss. The downloads window is alright but could also benefit from an update. - also, even though firefox 66 is pretty fast, it isn't as fast as I would want considering the HW I have (I5 6400 and a GTX 750 w/ 8gb of RAM), I find chrome a bit faster and more responsive, but I understand this is not something that can be fixed overnight.

Whenever a disk is full and you download, the download fails without explanation.

Instead of the download simply failing, Firefox should tell the user that the disk is full.

The first time it happened I thought that the problem was with the downloads, until I saw that my removable disk was full.

But if a warning message appears, no guessing will be needed.

Here are some problem: 1. Its been years and years. But still no "True Dark Mode", unlike Chrome. They finally did it. When we open any link in the tab, the white light still flashes. This doesn't happen in Chrome. Add-on section and setting page are still white.

P.S: When a user choose "Default dark" theme, I think Firefox should make everything Dark. Right now, half of things are dark and haft of things remain white.

There are students, teachers and many more people who read day and night on their screen. And Firefox is not helping them.

Funny thing is, Why is this thing such big deal for Firefox? What are they waiting for? MS Edge has sexiest black themed browser provided like years a ago. Opera did it way back then.

If Firefox stop providing trending feature, they will lose eventually.

I would like to have a conversation with the developer who had the brilliant idea of applying LZ4 to the formerly plain text session backup files that were used since the beginning and worked perfectly fine.

What is the name of the person whose idea it was to add a “feature” to Firefox that made recovering lost sessions so much easier and saving 3 MB of my disk space for wasting over 100 minutes of my time figuring out how to handle LZ4 works and how to get the plain text that would normally be written directly to the disk after Firefox failed to recover the session after a crash and after file system readability problems?

And did the community explicitly ask for LZ4? Were there users of Mozilla Firefox that recommended LZ4? Who exactly had the idea of implementing LZ4?

Will places.sqlitelz4 (or “places.sqlite.lz4”) become the next victim of lz4?

Thanks in advance.

I have been a huge fan of Firefox for many years. I donate money to the company because I believe in the product. The development team has done a very good job growing the products.

I am slowly seeing little annoyances pop in the browser product that is reminding me more of IE. I am loosing my control over the product. I realize the annoyances I am seeing are to protect me but as a seasoned technical person I know where to go on the internet and what links not to click on. After Firefox update 62 you can no longer disable update notifications. I totally get there are more less technical users of Firefox out there then there are IT experts. You are trying to protect the less techy folks for the greater good.

I ask the dev team to please remember us Tech Savvy individuals and if you hide settings in the preferences container to please please leave them in the other container.

Thanks, your biggest fan!

I got here via https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/feedback/ so the following should be treated as “product feedback” rather than a "question".

Let me first say that I’m quite happy with FF overall but the way it supports "Bookmarks" really frustrates me... First, I've not been convinced to check how "Pocket List" differs from "Bookmarks" and the mere presence of its icon in the URL bar next to the “Star icon” irritates me since each time I want to click "bookmark" I always experience this fraction of delay figuring out which button to press.. at the very least I would like to have the option to move the “Star icon” to the other end of the bar. Second, upon times I think to access a previously saved bookmark I instantly get this “ooof” like feeling, suggesting this to be tedious … I suspect this because: 1) The “tilted books” icon is quite "distant" from the “Star icon” by different measures, it's not within the same control group, and it is set apart by a substantial length compared to the distance between icons in a group, so effectively, the “Bookmark concept" is in two places and since I save more than I review I tend to first look at the "star icon" regardless of what I actually want to do with "Bookmarks". I think a more intuitive design for me would have the "star" and "books" icons be adjacent visually somehow... perhaps combining the two into a "dropdown button". 2) Once I do locate and click the "books icon" I'm somewhat overwhelmed by seeing many options which all deal with "past pages" and it takes me another click to open the "sub-menu" to show the "Bookmark list", which itself is not really consistent with sub-menus as a UI navigation pattern. 3) ..at which point I’m presented with a relatively narrow list of descriptions having the majority of them being cut-off. This makes the whole list appear very cryptic. I would really appreciate having a one-button click experience in order to reveal my bookmarks. As a quick remedy, I would love to have the option to change the semantics of the URL bar pull down pane (e.g drop-down arrow) to show my bookmarks instead of the recently visited URL's (I never ever used this list to navigate back to a site).

Hope this is considered...

It's a great idea, but a really stupid name. We've all been conditioned to think 'refresh' online just means, reload. I thought it would just recheck my firefox to ensure it was the latest version, and probably just reinstall itself.

Yes, I know I should have read more into it before, but it really shouldn't be so vague to begin with. Just a personal gripe, cause I lost all my bookmarks and my last backup was like a year ago... sigh...

This is a notification for developers, not looking for answers. I can totally tell there is something wrong with the new version. Win 7 both PC's.

Latest version 60.0.1 loaded on two separate PC's. I'm at work using PC #1 and the web mail for work. Things are acting weird. If I reply to an email, the "forwarded" part is MIA. If I in turn leave this pop out applet I get an "Leave this page / stay on this page" type applet. Use IE. Works as expected.

Now I'm at home. I am on a panel survey system called IPOS/ISAY. Things just aren't working right, I can tell, I just can't tell you HOW I know, but it is time to use IE...guess which browser works better?

I'm in FF right now. I just spelled a word wrong (survey as servey). Items for the wrong word don't come close to the desired right spelling.

I'm still at a loss to where the "speed" of Quantum is. I can click on something 3 times before I get reaction for something. I SWEAR it is SLOWER than the old FF series. I believe the real problem is the lack of reaction. Prior versions posted clockwise and counter clockwise spinner. The crappy left right blob thingy...pft! she ain't workin' right.

This site: https://www.lawanswers.com.au/threads/ebay-and-paypal-australian-consumer-law-on-withholding-payments.6537/

Popped out a new window in the background when I highlighted some text.

1. Every time JavaScript is used to pop-up a new tab or window, an icon should be made available to report the site for unwanted pop-ups. The site could be added to a blacklist. The blacklist should be downloaded in whole rather than queried on Firefox servers for privacy (Mozilla does care about privacy doesn't it?).

2. If a site is on the blacklist and it tries to pop-up a tab/window then the popup could be blocked and same icon could highlight for say 10 seconds. Clicking the icon in this case would give the options to open the popup, white-list the page for the user, vote against the blacklist. Something like:

[ ] Show the blocked page. [ ] White-list this site for me. [ ] I don't think this site should be blacklisted

[ OK ] [Cancel]

Some fuzzy logic could perhaps be used to determine whether or not to keep sites on the blacklist. Sites with very large amounts of blacklisting+white-listing could be manually looked at.

Also: I don't ever want anything happening when I highlight text other than the text being high-lighted, it's not necessary and it completely ruins the browsing experience. No excuses, it's bad. Add a white-list if necessary for the 0.01% edge cases where this might be useful.
