Since updating to Firefox 40.0 (in OS X 10.9.5) browser windows and the toolbar show strange black lines and squares when the window is resized. Websites are messed up with black backgrounds or disappear beneath a black layer. The toolbar often disappears too, except for the three Mac resize buttons. It renders Firefox completely unusable.
It’s similar to what is described here: https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/1071126 and the bug described here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1032769
None of the offered solutions or workarounds seems to help. Disabling all add-ons and extensions doesn’t help either. I only use the Default theme.
Solution To my own surprise the issue disappeared completely when I installed and started to use another theme (Simple White)…
So it seems that Firefox’s Default theme has a serious bug?

Operating system: OS X 10.9
Starting about four months ago, I began to see untitled and non-selectable windows spawning after my browser had been open for a while (i.e. after I visited a few sites). The number of these invisible windows grows over time, but are removed if I close the browser and start a new session. This has persisted through many new versions of Firefox.
I tried turning off all of the add-ons. Still happened.
I tried keeping track of what sites caused the problem. No correlation.
Today I uninstalled Firefox, using AppZapper -- which should have removed everything -- then did a new install. The only thing that I imported were bookmarks from the backup directory in my old Profile folder.
...and it's happening again. Here is a screen shot: http://imgur.com/ojcODd1
Any help would be appreciated.

MS WIndows 10 Pro
I have been using Firefox for years, but yesterday firefox stopped working. That is to say that the task manager showed firefox in the task list with 14%CPU but no browser page was started. ie Firefox running but no screen output. I then uninstalled firefox and reinstalled but I still have the same problem.
Any help on this ?

I just got assaulted by the new Quantum 57.0.4 it is BLINDING. I am shouting sorry as I can barely see. My eyes are smarting and tearing and I can hardly read the tabs, the contrast between the dark tab and the name of the tab in a sort of muted white or grey makes the print difficult to read -- and any red fades out (as is natural in the dark, it's physics). So the screen is extremely bright, like white light, and the tabs are extremely dark, the letters obscured, any red logos tend to be muted into the dark, and I have a sudden splitting headache. I was fine with the previous Firefox. I just checked Safari -- I'm fine. I think this is a health issue.

Since upgrading to package firefox 61.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1, the pop-up menus are all invisible.
I can click the "hamburger" menu and nothing visibly happens. But then I can click in the area below it and the invisible menu item is activated. The same behavior happens for things like the Pocket button.
I've tried safe mode and refreshing Firefox. The behavior stays the same in both cases. I'm lost as to what to do other than roll back to an older version.

Two days ago Firefox upgraded itself to 57 (Quantum). It worked fine, although without some add-ons that I depend on, and with a difficult-to-read color scheme. Tonight Windows updated itself and Firefox stopped working. The window minimized itself through a series of sequentially smaller windows until it was apparently just a few pixels wide and high. When I try to re-open Firefox I can OCASIONALLY get it to open a very small window and tried restoring it to its default state, but that didn't improve anything.
I'm running a Dell XPS 8700.
If you have any suggestions I'd like to hear them. I've been using Firefox for more than 10 years and I really like it, but this "upgrade" has been a fiasco for me. I'm currently using Edge, and I've downloaded Chrome which right now looks like my new browser.

The other two come up with a white screen and then a authentication box comes down to ask for your credentials. Firefox does not do this. It just has a white screen. It is not just my computer that is doing this. It seems to be all Macs that have Firefox. What is also weird is that Firefox for Windows works fine.

Hi,
We are a company with Firefox 24 deployed to more than 2000 PCs. We have an Intranet app made with Silverlight working ok with this Firefox version. But now we want to update to Firefox 33 and testing it we've found that it doesn't work with the Silverlight app with big monitors. It seems to be related to the resolution of the monitor, or at least, to the size of the Firefox window. The problem is that the mouse pointer doesn't seem to be pointing where it is. It's better explained in this screencast, where you can see that in a 1024px Firefox window it works OK, but when it's 1920px it doesn't work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA9DLYc-vpE
We tried different versions of Silverlight, currently 5.1.30514.0 I don't know in which Firefox version it started to appear this bug. With Internet Explorer it works.
Any idea?

FF 59 doesn't display some pages properly and is unusable. It has been the subject of other questions. As far as I can tell, this has not been fixed yest. I have tried FF 60 beta and this doesn't work either. I've turned off updating but it still downloads and updates when I restart.
As an aside to the FF 59 problem, this machine (a very basic 64-bit Acer netbook that is supposed to run Win10) has problems, but an older 32-bit Tosh (that isn't supposed to support Win10at all, but does) works fine with FF59.
As another aside to updates, I have an even older Compaq that cannot run greater than FF 48 (don't ask!) and it never tries to update, so I know that it is possible to fix. What do I need to do?

Problem: The Header image and text do not display properly in Firefox: The content does displays properly in Chrome, Opera and Safari. By the way: I have read and attempted all the applicable troubleshooting suggestions Firefox has supplied without success.
Website: www.twoworlds.ca The page in question is www.twoworlds.ca/other-world.html
Note: I coded the site myself using largely a w3.css framework. Admittedly, the source code is messy. I'm still chimpin' around (experimenting) with things.
Incredibly, am unable to upload two 137 kb screen captures of the problem for visual reference - an endless spin wheel for 12-minutes. Wha..? In that case, please visit my site in Chrome and then Firefox to see the difference. the site again: www.twoworlds.ca/other-world.html
Thanks.

Since a recent update (to 55? - I'm now on 56.0b5), pages from NaturalNews.com are whited out down the middle. The page appears normally very briefly when it first loads, then the white-out superimposes. The pages show fine on Chrome.
This article: http://www.naturalnews.com/2017-08-15-censorship-alert-mozilla-planning-kill-shot-for-entire-independent-media-by-blocking-all-non-approved-news-in-the-firefox-browser.html - which of course I had to read on Chrome - suggests Mozilla is intending to decide what I should not be able to read on my favorite browser.
I've been using Mozilla since near the beginning - years before Firefox - and I feel deeply betrayed that a browser I have used continuously for decades and often championed is apparently doing something so despicable. I hope there is a good explanation.
I'm on a desktop PC running 64-bit Windows 10 Pro with latest updates. Firefox is 64-bit too.
