I use Firefox on my Asus laptop running Windows 10. It's one of these laptops with both integrated and dedicated graphics (Intel plus Nvidia).

I often experience this issue when putting a video in full-screen (especially when viewing trailers on Steam, but this may just be because I mainly use my Windows laptop for gaming, and thus most of my video consumption here is from steam). This screen will briefly (for less than one second) turn black and audio will pause before the video appears in full-screen, and playback resumes normally.

It "feels" like a GPU switch is taking place, I'd assume from the integrated graphics to the GeForce card. This is not the proble. The issue appears when I return from full-screen mode. I always have several Command Prompts open with SSH connections to my Linux server and sometimes my MacBook Pro. These windows are now empty. That is, all text is gone, and I can no longer interact with the sessions. They're not "broken," as in they're not saying "Not responding" and don't ask to be forcefully closed, they're just black windows with borders around them. All I can do is close them all down and open new ones to reconnect and start over from where I think I remember I was.

I should note that this doesn't ONLY happen with Firefox videos going into full-screen, it has also happened after launching a game and returning to the desktop. This strengthens my belief that this has to do with GPU switching and/or video "mode" change(s).

Assuming I'm correct (my IQ is 5,000 and I do do the very big brians), is there any way to control how videos go into full-screen in Firefox? Or "lock it" to a specific GPU? I've rummaged through about:config and haven't seen anything that seems directly relevant.

I've already tried using the Windows settings to tell the system that Firefox.exe should use the integrated Intel graphics only, but this has no effect.

I remember I used to use "Media Player Classic" many years ago, and it had a slew of options of how to render full-screen video. IIRC, it had stuff like "Overlay," "Windowed," "Windowed borderless," "DirectX," etc. This make me wonder if there's multiple ways of chosing how to render video in full-screen, then maybe one could direct Firefox to use a different one than the default and my problem might disappear? Or maybe one could tell Windows that if an app wants to go into full-screen video mode, Windows should pick a specific mode for it?

I'm not a Windows developer, so I don't know :) But I'm hoping someone has a good tip, because I'm finding myself using this system more and more, and this is my biggest problem with it currently.

Firefox won't reload tab when NoScripts running. This didn't happen until I went to version 11.4.18 of NoScripts and Version 111.0 of Firefox (both at same time). All 8 tabs load when I initially start FF 111.0. All tabs reload with no problems when I initially start or restart FF with Noscripts active. It is only after FF been running for an hour or so that tabs stop reloading. I do have another addon running called tab reloader. Addon tab reloader and the FF reload icon both stop working after FF runs for awhile. You will see the web page name in bottom left corner of screen and an hour class on tab. Stop NoScripts, the hour class goes away and all tabs reload, both with the FF tab reload icon and the tab reloader addon.

I thought it might be the tab reloader addon, so I set 8 tabs to reload every 10 seconds for awhile, just a couple minutes. NoScripts was running. This didn't cause a problem, everything was reloading. So I set tab reloader back to reload 8 tabs every hour, No scripts still active.

Come back in a little over an hour and the FF tab reload isn't working as described earlier. Stop NoScripts and tabs finish reloading.

Now is this a Noscript 11.4.18 or FF 111.0 issue, I did both at same time. Prior to that I was on FF 110.0.1. Currently running Windows 10 64 bit, haven't done the March update as nothing much there. All was fine until FF and NoScript update. All is fine until FF runs for awhile. For now I just turned NoScripts off.

The Firefox built-in Picture-In-Picture works great and has great pictures, much better than Chrome addon PIPs. I noticed today it has gone through an update and the first difference I noticed is the "Back to tab" button has moved from bottom center to top left. As I said, the PIP of Firefox has a great design and features, but is missing one feature that would make it perfect. Can you please add a RED PROGRESS BAR at the bottom of the PIP box. For example, there is an "Enhancer for YouTube" addon PIP (not a regular PIP, but other type of PIP that pops up when scrolling down to comments section) which has that and it's very useful (please see attachment). And if that feature is added, the ideal and logical design would be to show the "red progress bar" while hovering over the PIP box, not an always-showing feature, just like a YouTube video red progress bar works.

I have a subscription to a website to download music, and in the last couple of days I have been having problems with the download page.

The error message reads: Stuck? Please disable ad blocker extensions/plugins. Your browser has probably an inbuilt one too.

I have Ablkock Plus, Adblocker Ultimate and Ublock Origin insyalled on FireFox and have disabled all of them for the website in question - but all to no avail.

Hello, I'm having an issue with my overflow menu. When opening the customization screen for the toolbar, I can't seem to drag certain toolbar elements into it? The buttons on the customize screen itself work correctly, and some of the elements present on the toolbar will change between visible and overflow just fine, but others I am completely blocked from moving. Please assist, as this is seriously impacting workflow.

Fiddling with extensions and plugins blast night and I fdound some YiouTube controls - and I clicked something similar to "Aways Show Fullscreen" and now it's ther it is annoying in the extreme, and I can't find which plug-in or extension I used.

Any iudeas out there on how to restore my screen to normal please ??

One day, all my Push Notifications on websites like Youtube and such are suddenly going on my Windows 10's action center instead of just showing it on the web browser like it normally does.

Was this a update change or some setting I accidentally changed? (or changed on me) And How do I switch it back?

As says on tin. I prefer to keep everything in the overflow menu, separating them is annoying. Also, itens in the add-ons menu are larger and less compact. How this layout change has anything to do with Manifest V3 I have no idea.

and now with the latest release, the close button is back to the right. That Mozilla doesn't follow the OS environment norms is utterly baffling, or at least provide a Setting for close button position. Can anyone provide a solution please?

Hello! I wanted to know if it is possible to disable the underlining of letters in the browser? As I understand it, this underlining is needed for easier page navigation, but I would still like to remove it.

With the latest update of MS edge, it's usurped my default browser (Firefox) and now all standard solutions (i.e. setting Default apps in Windows 11, using "open always as", etc.) are now 100% non functional.

Hello I don't have sound on Firefox. I made all points from article mozilla's about trobleshooting with sound, but it still doesn't works. I have sound on others - Chrome, Edge, Opera. I tried also install Firefox to my laptop and it's the same problem. I turned off blocking of sound in settings. What can I do with it? I very like Firefox and don't image to be without it. Hi. I am in Mac Big Sur and Firefox 108. I tend to keep a lot of windows open and navigate among them using the "Window" pulldown menu at the top between "Tools" and "Help". It used to be that the latest window more or less stayed at the bottom and the others stayed in order so they were easy to find quickly. A recent upgrade made it so the windows are now alphabetized and constantly shuffling. Since they are alphabetized by the name in the page title, this often offers no clue as to what it is--like it might be alphabetized under like cart or home page or main or something general like that. Also, if you have different tabs in a window, that window might jump from the top to the middle if a different tab is last looked at. Bottom line: it is very difficult and non-intuitive to find a page when you have a lot of windows open--but it used to be easy. Is there a way to order the wondows the way you want them or go back to the chronological order of before? Seems like there must be a setting somewhere. Thanks so much for any help.

Hello. With the new Firefox 111.0 64-bit, I am no longer able to use the add-on PrintEditWE. Is there a security feature that was added, or a setting that I need to change? Thanks.

Please add an option to the right click menu. I need to be able to open a page link, not to a new tab or window, but to a new instance of Firefox BUT without any extensions loaded. I ask this as many extension block links from running, but on occasion I need to open a link to a "clean" version of Fire fox, in order to see a blocked video or page. At the moment I have to copy the whole link and open a different browser! This happens a lot with trailer video links in IMDB.com

I've had a website as my home page since the 1990s. The website in question, https://www.elvis-collectors.com/, has followed me through Netscape, Chrome, two laptops and around five PCs in that time.

However, Firefox updated this afternoon and removed the home button. I restored it but cant find out how to customize the URL to go to my website.

How do I fix this?

Who decides on these changes??

I've been on the internet since the mid 1990s. I dont go to that site much as I used to but it reminds me of the early days on the net. It has always been there. Please help.

So i made the switch from Chrome to Firefox. But the main annoying thing is that when im watching a video on YouTube or literally anywhere, if i scroll down on my WACOM drawing pad/trackpad the video will fastforward, and when i scroll up the video will rewind. Its EXTREMELY annoying and i really need to figure out a way to disable this, because Chrome doesnt do this, but Firefox does.

Extensions no longer shows on Customize Toolbar tab on the latest version 111.0. I had Dark Reader and SoundFixer on the toolbar before and I can no longer add them back.

Hi all!

When I alt-click, I always want a new tab to appear, but in the background—never forcing me to navigate away from my current window. (I'm a Mac user, and use the Command key as my alt.) I've successfully toggled settings in about:config to make this happen in 90% of cases. But...

When I type into the address bar and hit alt-return, Firefox always forces the new tab into the foreground (whether a search result or a typed URL). How do I change this setting to background?
