I was using Firefox and Owl (the addon).

I just upgraded to Fedora 36. I treid installing Owl and an alternative called "Dark Reader" and both cause a message stating they are corrupted.

I enabled dark mode in the browser. Google immediately changed to a dark background which I can more easily see. This site ignores the setting and is forcing me to work with very limited ivsion

I can barely make out the UI. I found what might be a solution at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1356233 but after hours trying to read it I gave up and am wirting here.

It is very frustrating that other sites respond to firefox settings and your support site does not.

Hello, Last few days Firefox keeps automatically downloading strange files like mLZrOMIV.htm icFSREgF.htm

They are 0 bytes, empty when I open in notepad and if I right click in download section and select copy download link I just get about:blank

I checked PC for viruses using Eset Online tool and Windows defender. No problems.

Has anyone run into something like this?

Suddenly every file from every website is dangerous, clicking allow download does nothing. I disabled download filters both in settings and in about:config, yet everything is still caught and cant be resumed

I have a brand new Win 10 MS Surface 4 Laptop, and have tried downloading and installing various versions of Firefox:

From the the Windows Store Direct downloads (via MS Edge): Mozilla FF Win 64 Mozilla FF Win 64 MSI Mozilla FF Win 32

I have completely uninstalled and attempted to re-install each in turn. Attempts to open FF through desktop shortcut, Start Menu and Win-R FF.exe all seem to start but only ever get the briefest flash of a blue line along the Taskbar then nothing. Same happens starting Shift-Shortcut.

Nothing shows in Task Manager either after any start method. I'm pretty sure I'm not in 'S Mode' as I've been able to download, install and run WhatsApp Web, but I'm not wholly convinced I've cleared that up fully.

After a new clean installation Firefox will not start. It generates a crash report in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive

Hi since the last upgrade to 91.0.2 24th August I cannot download anything through Firefox. If my husband logs in on the same PC, he can download stuff and he is using the same version. We haven't consiously set up anything different. If I use Google I can downlaod as normal. What's happened? Thanks

Win10 with what was Firefox 89. I had already disabled the Proton UI on this installation, because it is horrible. Today Firefox decided to update to version 91. All of the Proton UI junk is back. I tried disabling it again, but nothing worked. Doing a web search, it appears that Mozilla has disabled the ability to turn off Proton.

I then set about to rollback the installation back to version 89. I found a Mozilla link on this, went to their ftp server and downloaded the installation files for the last version of 89. The installation went normally, but when I opened Firefox afterwards, a little box popped up saying something to the effect of "To keep your History and Bookmarks from possibly being corrupted, Firefox must create new user profile." I exited out of this and Firefox didn't start. I attempted to restart Firefox again and the same box popped up again. The only way to get past it was to click the accept button.

I did so and Firefox started. This was clearly not version 89. As the UI is junk, it took several minutes to find out that this was now the latest version of 92!!!! I'm absolutely positive that I downloaded the correct file. When I look through the update history, it doesn't even show todays version 89 installation as happening. What a piece of junk.

I then spent 20 minutes figuring out how to revert back to my user profile, not the new one that it had created for me. I then did some research on what had happened. Well it turns out that you can't actually rollback Firefox, despite what Mozilla says. For a while they have added "downgrade protection" which automatically creates the new user profile and stops your old profile from being accessed by it. So unless you want to figure out how to spend a hundred hours reconstructing bookmarks, passwords, settings, etc. it actually isn't possible to rollback Firefox. Doesn't this violate some Microsoft rules about being able to uninstall versions of software from within Windows? If you try to do this with Firefox and go back to a previous version it blows everything up.

Does anyone know how to actually rollback Firefox to a previous version, so that Proton can be disabled?

I'm trying to download xilinx vivado design suite and cannot. The download fails for both Chrome and Firefox and the web installer fails as well. I've tried using a single file download, removing myself from my family's account and also tried using a download manager. I also deleted

This issue has been happening for about half a year now- I've been able to finish downloads by simply retrying them, but I've never tried to download a file this large (the single file download is roughly 60 GB and I would rather solve this issue than retry the download for a 60gb file).

Any ideas or suggestions why my downloads keep failing? Is this maybe an issue with my ISP?

The 89.0 (64-bit) update to Firefox is a joke! When are fixes coming or is there any way for me to return to the previous edition. I cannot get used to this charade.

I think that Firefox is by far the most superior browser and this update is just so not Firefox. It hurts. It hurts really bad!

Firefox 109 is horrible and I am trying to revert to 108. I have the "Old Firefox Data" file, but have no idea how to get ALL that info back into 108. I am so very upset and frustrated right now! So much wasted time. I cannot believe Mozilla did this to us with no warning!!!!!!!! I have seen some articles on how to get the info back, but I don't really understand them. I am relatively computer-savvy, but I definitely do not understand how all this works. Some "Firefox for Dummies" at this point would be greatly appreciated. I am on a PC using Windows 10 professional 64-bit with automatic updates so it's current.

I've been experiencing weird downloads whenever I startup firefox. My antivirus prevents the download, and says that firefox.exe is the application responsible. I will include an image of the antivirus(Kaspersky) report. Deleting and reinstalling firefox seemed to fix the problem, but it returned after sometime; even when I just used youtube on firefox(I've tried this atleast 3 different times now). I am not sure if this is caused by one of my extensions, or if there is something else I've done to cause this. I'd just like to know if there is a way to fix it?

I did a full reinstall of my Firefox browser because of a problem where it couldn't load some youtube diy videos (that did load in another browser). Before the reinstall I made bookmark and saved logins backups. No problems with backup/restore of bookmarks.

Exporting saved logins works perfectly and I get a readable csv file , but importing simply doesn't work. First of all the import feature was disabled by default (?). After making the change in the settings and restarting Firefox I see the 'import from file' option in the password manager.Big dissapointment however when you click the 'import from file' option and select the exported csv file because nothing happens ! No error, no result,nothing ! I tried several csv files from earlier backups but none work. Google on the other hand can import all of my csv's without any problem ! Any help on that would be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to import my Seamonkey profile data to Firefox, but Firefox doesn't recognize Seamonkey or its data. How can I do this? I'd like to keep my Firefox data synced to Seamonkey, and maybe synced the other way too. And I'd like Thunderbird to be able to sync to the Seamonkey email data too, for what it's worth. I thought the importing of data when Firefox starts would take care of importing SM data but it doesn't. Are there any commandline options for running Firefox that would get the importing done? I sure don't want to mess around with a huge html bookmarks file and there's other data in Seamonkey besides bookmarks that should be imported too. Help!

I have a subscription to a business book summary service. Several of their downloads are sitting as "unknown time left" and won't download. The problem is, in order to stop this, apparently I have to lose all my downloads. They each have an X but it does nothing if I click it. How can I stop these downloads but not lose all that is in my downloads folder that I haven't saved or filed yet?

I was having problems with my email and was looking more closely at those settings as well as firefox/ deleted cache, cookies , etc. 5 months ago my email was hacked so I am being extra cautious....

I just discovered there are many items listed that say to save the application. I do not recall adding these.... How did they get there? I recall whatever was listed I chose that I be asked what to do with it. Here is a screenprint so you can see what the items are. I use Linux. The only change I made after seeing this is to ask me about anything not listed. The answer had been to save. Should I change them all to ask me? Firefox updated to 101.0.1 and I miss all addons and my customized toolbar! During update I saw it created an "Old Firefox data" folder on my Desktop.

How to bring back the missing parts?

I'm well aware that they made changes to Firefox 98 and removed the option to Download without saving. However, the documented "fix" to change the about.config to disable a specific command is blocked when using the browser in an Enterprise setting (probably due to a group policy so employees can't tamper their browsers to do something they shouldn't do, like login using their personal accounts).

Note that the reason why Download without saving is useful is because I work a lot on one-off reports. It saves me a click of not having to deal with cleaning out my downloads folder. I feel that the devs have catered too much on the novice users and ignored the power users. At least Edge still allows you to do it.

is there a way to download the Firefox version before this without automatically updating to the latest one? I honestly don't like this change. I have transitioned my work to Edge, but one frustrating thing about it is I can't open reports of the same name. I do 2 passes on one report and put it on a template to combine them. Firefox allows me to download these reports at the same time, but having to sift through your download folder to delete the files you don't want to keep. I would want to give Firefox a chance if this is reverted, else, I will have to uninstall it because it doesn't serve me a purpose anymore as a browser to run and open one-off reports.

Or if there is a way to change browser.download.improvements_to_download_panel to false even if access to about.config is blocked by Enterprise?

If you're going to do a future update, please do have a switch for us to go back to the old way of doing things without having to go through tampering config settings.
