Recently I have had multiple occurrences of Firefox "freezing" and I have to shutdown the browser which then reports the fault to Microsoft. It seems to happen when I click on the button to Maximise the browser window. I'm running Windows 11. It generally does restore the browser tabs successfully but is nevertheless irritating and a recent phenomenom.

I'm a software developer working on some web application and sometimes need to manually add URL components in the address bar of an open tab simpyl to test something. For example I have some tab open shwoing the web page under "http://localhost:8080/entry" and I need to test "http://localhost:8080/entry/foobar" by manually adding "/foobar" to the URL. Depending on if "/foobar" exists or not, either some web page is shown or inc ase of a HTTP status code 404 Firefox automatically opens a new tab and forwards my input as search to Google.

That is not what I want. I want Firefox to simply show the HTTP status code 404 like the other browsers I use. Though, I want to be able to search in the address bar in general, only not in case there's an existing working URL open already and I change the child path only.

Is there some way to disable the behaviour of Firefox for 404s or do I need to completely disable searches in the address bar instead?

I'm trying to set the download location to a different drive, containing the current username. For example, if my username is Brett.Michaels, I want my default download directory to be G:\brett.michaels. Other browsers have a variable that is usable like {user_name} however I can only find reference to {home} for Firefox, which does not allow me to alter the drive. I've tried using Windows-based environment variables to no avail. Perhaps I'm missing something?

PLEASE HELP!

So I opened firefox as usual, which automatically restores my previous session, but only one tab was showing, and the rest were blank and had no addresses. Then I opened firefox again after closing, and only the last tab, of the previous tabs was showing. After that I looked for restore last session, but it was nowhere to be found. What I did find, was restore recently closed tabs, so i selected that. But of course, these were the recently closed tabs, and not my previous session. After looking around on the internet, I quickly found sessionstore files, but at that point, my past files had been updated.

Where does firefox house deleted/updated files? And how can I recover "previous" sessionstore files?

While downloading XLS file from some webpage, it is converting as PDF ( File extension is changing from XLS to PDF) , Same is downloading properly in other browsers

Good evening, I have a problem with the display of bold text on the Wordpress site editor.

I have already contacted the Wordpress experts and we have noticed that the problem does not exist with other browsers and does not depend on the brand of the PC, given that we have tried with different PCs and with different operating systems (Mac and Windows).

The problem really comes from the browser.

How can I solve it?

This morning the add-on 'Search By Image' has ceased working. I use it daily, it worked yesterday, and so far as I know there have been no updates to FF or SBI or Windows.

To test I tried removing SBI and re-adding it, and disabling Malwarebytes.

I disabled SBI and installed "Image Search Options". ISO works, though I prefer SBI.

Win11, FF is now 119.0, but it auto-updated when I went to check so I do not know what it was when the problem began this morning. I have not restarted, I have too many tabs open at the moment.

This is also happening to a different PC that is Win10/FF, but never had Malwarebytes installed. SBI still does not work after restarting FF v119.0 in Win10.

Any ideas on how to diagnose this?

Some websites display poorly on Firefox 119.0 on my Dell computer running Windows 11. Some of the letters of the fonts are too thin and hard to read. They display correctly in Edge.

I have used Inspect Element to see that the font is: font-family: Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;

The problem goes away if I change this to: font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;

I do not have the Roboto or Helvetica fonts installed on my computer.

The problem fixes itself if I turn off the setting for "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selection above." However, this is not a good solution, because it introduces other issues.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have researched this for several hours and tried many of the suggestions online.

1) I have disabled all extensions. 2) I don't have any Themes installed in Firefox. 3) I have tried "Smooth edges of images and text" turned on and off. 4) The problem still occurs when running Firefox in Safe Mode. 5) I don't have a "High Contrast theme" enabled in the OS settings. 6) I am not running uBlock Origin. 7) I have played with Clear Type but the problem was occurring before that. I have tried modifying Firefox's gfx.font_rendering.cleartype_params.gamma to the value of GammaLevel from Windows's registry Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics\DISPLAY1. 8) I haven't installed any fonts on my computer. 9) I tried setting security.sandbox.content.level = 1.

Was getting some crash reports....now have a black bar on top of new tabs...it finally scrolls when you are halfway down the page. any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, Last night I installed some new hardware into my PC, new motherboard and CPU for example. After that, I booted up the PC, everything worked completely fine and I was able to listen to Youtube / Twitch / Spotify etc. through Firefox.

This morning I boot up the PC, everything still works perfectly and I have audio coming from all other sources EXCEPT for Firefox. I have browsed every forum already but can not find anything that relates to me. I can't set my output device, since Firefox doesn't show up in the volume mixer. The tabs aren't muted. I have restarted Audiosrv and Windows Explorer several times. I have re-installed Firefox twice. I have tried booting it in safemode. All of the above hasn't resulted in a single second of audio. I am at a loss.

In the last 2 weeks (that I know of), Mercari will not appear when I go to it. I just get a blank page. I've restarted the computer, I've turned off the Ublock and Ghostery but nothing. Everything else works fine. I am not very computer adept, by the way. I sell things on Mercari, so I kind of need to access it. I'm not even sure I picked the right topic (website breakages)....sorry if I got it wrong.

I downloaded and installed Atkinson Hyperlegible and set Firefox to use it as my default font for all websites (see screenshot). This used to work, but now fonts on sites are shown in a default serif or sans-serif font, not the font I set. It stopped working maybe a month ago (October 2023).

What can I try to fix this?

I would rather not change browsers just to use USPS.com. Can you direct me to correct settings so that I can use Firefox?

Can anyone help me figure out how I can get fire fox to work again..I installed acrobat last night and it did crazy things to my computer, and fire fox will not work anymore

For the past couple of months I have been experiences tab crashes every day when watching a specific streaming service called wowtv, all my other tabs are fine and work flawlessly. Additionally, after restoring the tab or opening it anew it works again for the next few hours until the next crash occurs. Netflix, disney+ and others work fine as well. So far I have tried reinstalling firefox as well as try other browsers where said issue doesn't occur. I sadly don't have the error message or anything but the video freezes just before crashing, neither closing all tabs 'nor trying an older firefox version fixed it for me.

anytime I type www into the URL window firefox autopopulates youtube.com even though I have turned off auto suggestion. It shows up before the bookmarked links !

it always automatically checks the "Search suggestions ahead of address bar results" and will not let me uncheck it.

I just dont want it to suggest anything and am okay typing the complete URL. How can I fix this issue? I am including snapshot of what the autosuggestion, settings and version info in the attached doc
