It turns out the copied logins-backupjson file i had pasted on my desktop screen was already overwritten by an added or removed login, thus writing over when it did have the saved login removed that i was trying to recover

is there any other way to recover the removed login?

i saw this response by Cor-el for another user with a similar situation

If you still have the signons.sqlite that was used in a previous Firefox version then you can try to restore passwords saved in that file.

Firefox 32 and later builds store the passwords in the logins.json file in the profile folder and no longer use the signons.sqlite file that has been used before (the matching key3.db file is still needed). If you still have the signons.sqlite file used in previous Firefox versions then you can try to force Firefox to migrate the passwords saved in that file (you will lose passwords saved in Firefox 32+ versions). You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file and rebuild the logins.json file with these steps:

   reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the about:config page to the default value via the right-click context menu
   delete the logins.json file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed 

When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true and you should have the passwords imported in the Password Manager unless there may have been errors.

I've tried post in the thread 1287660 but it was closed. So, I opened this thread to continue about this subject and to answer the last question of the thread 1287660, at the same time. I was looking for about this subject and found the solution in the thread 1287660 - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1287660, but the link of v9.7.2 quoted there was shortened and it is not working to download the 9.7.2 Fox Reader version. Firefox isn't loading anything, not even the about:configs page, this happened out of nowhere, i tried reinstalling it, restarting it but nothing is solving the problem, im using the lastest version btw

I recently ran into a problem with firefox and amazon. That was fixed by uninstalling/reinstalling and using links from the 'old firefox data' file. Some things did not come back as expected so I did a system restore. The last restore point was before the problem. That did not bring back the missing items though.

One of the things that changed is the 'shortcuts' The shortcuts I used have mostly gone away and do not re-populate, so far. I liked the convenience of having this list of frequently used shortcuts and half the ones I always used are gone.

The recent activity links seem to be limited to 16 and are huge icons.

Now there was a change to the control bar top of the page. Specifically the download status icon. It used to show the download progress and terminate when the dl is complete. NOW, and I find it annoying, upon completion of the dl, a drop down list of the most recent downloads pops-up. Why? I do not need to see that list every time a dl successfully occurrs. And why is there no way to let it go back to the previous operation?

I have 2 questions after the upgrade ( If that is what they call it). #1. Getting all my apps re-setup , I noticed that some were not showing up on the bar to the right of my search bar. #2. When I open FF it only opens with a half page on the left. This next jusy a polite general question. After the uproar about fvd suspension, why did FF feel the need to do it again? What I mean is why did they wipe out All my apps and deleted other programs I had BOUGHT and now having trouble getting downloaded again when they were working perfectly before 100? Are these programs also considered "Dangerous". Sorry. Could you give me an approved FF alternative to FVD and I don't mean this piece of garbage that is on your web page. You wanna throw something against the screen every time you look at it.; UGLY!!!!

Hi! I did a "refresh" on firefox. How do I recover my bookmarks and passwords? There is a folder on my desktop named "OLD FIREFOX DATA" but I have no clue how to use the information contained in said folder.

I am sick of the unannounced updates that occur without prompting me. Edge doesn't do this and I'm fed up with Mozilla unannounced updates. Going to uninstall Firefox because of unannounced updates.

In settings, Start-up, I have the box checked for: "open previous windows and tabs" but it doesn't work. In order to do my work I need the 23 tabs I currently have open to show up again after a reboot of the browser or computer. What gives? How long will it take to get this corrected? I have read the responses about pages white and I have tried every advices (clean cache, historial,... reinstall the last version, install a before version, nothing works. Please, I need help because I would like to continue using Firefox. Thanks

Firefox starts but when I type into the search box nothing happens. My RoboForm link does not work and neither do the bookmarks. I have had to resort to using Edge to get onto the internet. Jim Klein

I can't open a particular site i watch in private. I refreshed browser; I gave permissions off and then on or enhanced tracking off then on and neither nor changed anything. The website help desk that i tried opening verified password asked which browser and still it wouldn't open when putting correct information password and user name in. Any suggestions? I didn't do anything different and thought it was the website but i'm member and nothing's changed on their end.

Since about 2 weeks ago many AOL attachments are not opening (pdf.s are but others eg Word not). I have read thru' previous messages on this (in 2021) but turning off enhanced tracking has not fixed it. My attachments open in Edge and Chrome. Like others I would like to stay with Firefox but cannot live with this problem. Help please
