After computer restart Firefox pages load normally. But after I have used some other programs (and not always the same ones) Firefox pages will sometimes start to load very slowly. I've refreshed Firefox, I've tried new profile and I've deleted Firefox and reloaded the program but still getting same problem. I'm using Windows 7. Other browsers load okay. Any ideas?

Today I tried to launch Firefox from the Norton Support menu, It took more than two minutes to load. After that it takes two minutes on restart. When it finally runs all websites a lightening fast, except for Norton, which is very slow if at all. Three sessions with norton chat support have not improved anything and following the Firefox troubleshoote including reinstallation have not solved either.

I have tried starting Firefox in safe mode and it still locks up. At first I could not access Yahoo mail, now it is starting to happen on other sites with no pattern. It is Windows 8.1 and Firefox 36.0.1.

Hi to all readers ! I have been running Firefox as my browser on a Linux PC system for many years. I do a lot of web searching for scientific information, so I have many Add-ons installed. Over the years, the boot-up time has steadily increased to around 25 secs so, about a month ago, I systematically tested the Add-ons to find which was slowing things down and discovered that AdBlock Edge was the culprit. I replaced this with plain AdBlock and my boot-up time dropped to about 4 secs --- which was fine. However, over the past week or two it has begun to creep up again even though nothing in the configuration has changed. I am running Firefox Ver:36.0.1. for Linux Mint Ver 17 ("Qiana") on a Dell GX-520 tower with 2 GB of memory. Firefox is the only app running on this machine. All the up-dates for "Mint" have been installed. Boot-up time is now averaging about 11 secs with variations between 7-13 secs. Can anyone please explain why the boot time varies when nothing on the system has been changed and why it is apparently increasing from an average of 4 secs. When I bring up a spreadsheet online in google docs Firefox starts dimming the screen, others tabs run slow. The screen dimming will last, for 2-3 minutes, and then clear up, 2-3 minutes later it will dim again. The fewer tabs I have helps, but not the answer. IMO the problem has gotten worse over the few upgrades. I have an HP 2000 Laptop, CPU 1300.000 MHz, memory 7586 MiB.

I have gone to the activity monitor and firefox doesn't show up there so I know it isn't running but the icon shows that it is. Force Quit doesn't work, nor can i open firefox from that icon.

Takes a very loooong time to load then after slowly loading a few pages including on this site it freezes. Everything. This is the second day of restart after restart with Firefox. OS is OpenMandriva. Had no problems before upgrade to 37.0

I recently purchased a new HP laptop with Windows 8. I had been using Firefox and Thunderbird on both my old laptop and desktop with no problem. However, since trying to use both on my new machine, Firefox has slowed down to the point of making it impractical to use. And whenever I log into Thunderbird, it takes at least 10 minutes and more before Thunderbird becomes responsive.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Are there any solutions?

Ever since I updated Firefox 2 or 3 days ago, getting onto Facebook is very slow and sluggish. Every time I try to play a game I get an error message that something went wrong, please refresh. I have refreshed Firefox and checked all my plugins for the latest updates and that did not help at all.

On W 8.1 with all latest OS updates. Firefox all latest, 36.0

The only options I have in my modem/router's Compal-ch7486e-70684 (CH) setting is QoS, which I have turned on since months ago.

Chrome experiences the same problem.

After having switched to startech usb 3.0 adapter the slowness went away (about 2 months ago). I concluded that my CPU is poor and the adapter now did some of the computing power. But then the slowness came back

Maybe 1-2 months ago Was connected to my WIFI (DLINK DAP-1522 connected to CH). Google calendar took a really long time to load. Switchted to my Samsung S3's hotspot. Gcal was quick to load. Then switched back to WIFI and it was as quick. On the other hand making a Facebook post took a really long time to load via WIFI but was quick via the hotspot.

If I have the slowness, and detach-attach network cable the slowness is gone.

22 Mars 2015 Closed almost all processes, it did not help Disabled all firefox addons. This made problem go away.

But now it's back again.

On the 22th of Mars I removed cookies in Firefox. It's the same on WIFI as corded. Power options are set to high performance.

edit: before making this post there has been 1 day since I made a new profile. This seemed to help in the beginning, but now I see signs the slowness is creeping back. Some pages definitely takes too long to load.

I'm having issues with pages locking up, non-responsive script messages popping up, Firefox flashing in and out, and now with a recent update my Firefox is crashing.

Firefox intermittently hangs up entire system while "transfering data" from a website linking. I have to cold boot to get control of my system again. How to I stop or prevent website loadings from stealing my computer?

I've noticed this over the past several versions of Firefox for OS X, and under Mavericks as well as Yosemite, on 2 different Macs of Mine: a 2009 Mac Pro and a 2012 Mac Book Pro.

The issues are: sometimes Firefox will not create a new tab or window when I press those keyboard commands, and sometimes, I am unable to type into form fields. Restarting Firefox will remedy the problem, until it happens again.

Otherwise, I find Firefox to be a great browser! Thank you for producing it.

I have noticed when I have my favourite radio station podcast loaded and I minimize the FF window to the taskbar the PC slows down? !!! url = http://www.rtbf.be/radio/liveradio/classic21 The PC is running WinXP SP3 +ALL updates and FireFox 37.0.1 The hardware is Asus P5Q Pro with an Intel E8500 Dual core CPU. Gfx = Ge Force 9700GT with the ver. 340.52 driver pack installed and 2 monitors attached. Mouse is Logitech with ver. 6.65 driver package installed. The scenario. I have MS Office Outlook and MS Word running + FF with a radio station playing. Radio is ON and the CPU load is 15-16% (window is on screen) now I click the Minimize button and the CPU load goes up ~ 10% to 26-28% and the PC slows down NOTICEABLY!

Next scenario. I have MS Office Outlook and MS Word running + FF with my home page showing, CPU load is ~5% (normal). now I click the Minimize button and the CPU load goes DOWN to 2-3% (normal) Any ideas anyone? ??????.

With versions of Firefox later than 34 (or possibly 35 - not sure) attempting to open a page link from an email in Thunderbird and occasionally other sources, results in Firefox 36 and 37 hanging for up to a minute before opening the new tab and page, so I am forced to use 34 to retain smooth operation.

I have not included the Troubleshooting Information as the problem does not relate to the Firefox version currently in use.

I was recently updated to the most recent version of Firefox, and have noticed that unlike other versions if I've been on for a long time and/or have quite a few windows open that there comes a time when the browser begins to hang every five seconds or so for five or more seconds a time per hang. Once this happens, it's basically a good as it crashing because you can work on that. I did a reset of Firefox, I've ran all kinds of anti-malware and anti-virus software to see if that helped, and none of this has helped. All of my extensions and add-ons seem up to do. I've tried messing around with my options (toggling on and off hardware acceleration for instance).

Is this a problem specific to this new version? It seems to be using a lot more memory. I've noticed this particular when multiple Twitter windows are open in the browser. Sometimes I'll scroll down and the graphics blink out or begin to overlap or the pictures don't load. All around, it's just become a mess. I wish I could be more specific, but perhaps people are having the same general problems.

Everything is sloooooowwwww. Even keyboard. Just ran anti-virus and malware scans. INTERNET EXPLORER WORK ING FINE!! Therefore, I don't think it's my computer. Since switching to Firefox - I like it better. Would rather fix Firefox than switch back to Internet Explorer. Have been getting "scripts" messages occasionally - but this terrible slowness started suddenly 2 days ago.
