Hello,

There is a very long list of these that are associated with my account. I've imported my Firefox settings from computer to computer for at least twenty years. I may have made mistakes that caused me to pick up malware, and want to fix this, and some of these certificates have expired.

How do I know what to keep and what to either delete or edit trust regarding?

Is there any way to quickly and easily have all of them assessed at once?

Thanks very much!

Sally

I honestly don't now which topic this belongs in. Today I have had Google asking to sign in when I go to a login page of some websites. I am not logged into Google on this computer. I do not have Chrome installed.

Windows10, Firefox browser, Qwant search engine. Autofill options are off. I deleted Google from the search engine options. I have cleared all history several times today and still had this happen.

Ii know some websites offer logging in with another account such a Google, FaceBook, Twitter, etc. but I don't recall seeing this pop-up before, and I didn't look at it, really. I just closed it because it was in my way. I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it except I was setting up an account and they sent me an email telling me I asked to change my email address and would no longer be able to log in with that email address.

I've seen a few other complaints about Google asking to sign into websites on Firefox and they seem ridiculous, but it appears something may be going on. Does anybody know why this would be happening? Is there anything I should look at in about:config?

( Timezone Difference: The time zone of your browser is UTC while your request IP location timezone is different. )

Currently have privacy.resistFingerprinting on which is giving website the UTC time zone. How do I change this without disabling the setting.

Can I go into About:Config and add a new timezone?? that the Javascript request will find.

Windows 11 x64, Firefox 110.0.1. HTTPS-only mode disables. OCSP enabled. I've tried playing around with these flags, nothing works.

  • security.certerrors.mitm.auto_enable_enterprise_roots
  • security.certerrors.mitm.priming.enabled
  • security.ssl.enable_ocsp_stapling
  • security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled
  • security.certerrors.permanentOverride
  • network.stricttransportsecurity.preloadlist
  • security.enterprise_roots.enabled

Do not recommend me to click Advanced -> Accept the Risk and Continue. I want to disable the warning forever for all the hosts. For example, Chrome supports flag --ignore-certificate-errors, I need something like this.

Why can't I change my primary email address on my account? That email is not secure. I need to change it. Right now my options are to delete my firefox account entirely, or keep it connected and let myself continue to be hacked now that my email has been compromised.

Where do I go to change it? It's not under settings like the help articles say. There is no option to change it.

Firefox refusing Primary Password

Today, after browsing about whether or not I should continue using Firefox as my password manager, I decided to mitigate the most important security flaw in browser based password managers, by setting up a Primary Password. I choose to use an easy to remember 8 word long passphrase as my Primary Password. I noted down the passphrase in my diary. Due to problem while loading YouTube, I decided to restart Firefox by going to about:profiles and selecting "restart normally". This issue where Firefox starts to struggle connecting to internet is a relatively common occurrence on my Firefox install, and restarting Firefox fixes the issue. When Firefox restarted, I was prompted to enter the primary password. I confidently entered my passphrase, but it was rejected. I tried to typing to it more carefully several times. I got my diary and checked it to make sure I was entering the passphrase correctly. Following troubleshooting steps on a similar thread, I restarted firefox, no luck. I than rebooted my computer, issue persisted. I decided to restart Firefox with extensions disabled, and also in troubleshooting mode. Firefox still rejects my passphrase. I have my Firefox account synchronized with two Android phones. Will reinstalling Firefox and syncing with my Firefox account solve the problem? In a similar troubleshooting thread, renaming key4.db and logins.json is suggested. However, it has not been explained very clearly. My logins.json file was modified an hour before disaster, even though I had made no changes to any of my logins or the master password. Is my logins.json corrupted causing the issue? I will like to point out a design flaw in Firefox which might have caused the issue. I usually want to see what I am typing when I am entering an encryption password. This is to make sure that I don't mistype something. However, in Firefox Primary Password configuration window, there is not option to see what you are typing. Firefox relies on low probability of typing the wrong password twice. I don't think devs should be so worried about shoulder attacks to not even allow users option to view what they typing. My case might be that low probability situation where I made the same mistake while typing the passphrase twice.

This feature was great when it was first implemented but it seems to be increasingly unusable. It flatly refuses to generate passwords on many sites seemingly because there is a flag set in the textbox's code disabling auto-complete. It won't allow you to customize the types of passwords that are generated e.g. length, complexity, excluded characters, etc. This wouldn't be such an issue if there was a way to manually generate a password but there seems to be no tool for this anywhere in the settings and no plans to add this feature. I wouldn't be so frustrated if I didn't actually like and actually use the password manager but I do. I rely upon it almost daily and it is extremely disheartening to see it repeatedly confounded by poor design and implementation.

Hi Firefox team,

I searched online about TLS 1.0 support history events. Looks like Firefox previously (around year of 2020) stopped supporting TLS 1.0, but later re-enable it to support some goverment TLS 1.0 website for COVID reason.

We now have a website(based TLS 1.0). That site is no longer available on Chrome, but it's still available on latest Firefox version by today(Mar 21, 2023). I'd like to know do you have a plan to officially stop supporting TLS 1.0 website again without exception? If so, when will it happen?

Thanks

There is a wave of malware targeting authentication cookies stored on disk (e.g. recent LTT hack). It has become obvious that malware doesn't need to target stored passwords to get access to a site/account. Primary Password has solved this problem, but only for the stored passwords. The stored cookies are just as exposed as the stored passwords were, provide access to sites/accounts and bypass 2FA checks because they bypass normal login protocols.

Primary password should secure the stored cookies as well. When is this going to be implemented?

Thanks!

I have a Substack newsletter and am trying to record audio for a voice-over of a post/article. For some strange reason, even though I have it set to Allow that website to have access to my Built-In microphone, I get a pop-up error window "Unable to setup microphone!" when I try to record. It's simply refusing to acknowledge the Permission setting.

What's strange is that I *am* able to record a video and within that video, the audio IS recorded, so Firefox is allowing access to my camera AND my Built-In microphone when recording a video. The url is *exactly* the same for Camera Permissions and Microphone Permissions in Firefox Settings. Weird, right?

It is ONLY when I try to record a voice-over (audio ONLY) that it won't allow me to do so. I have to switch to Safari. I'd like to stay on Firefox and not have to switch back and forth. Any ideas how to fix this? I've cleared my cache, restarted my iMac, removed website from Permissions then put it back on.

Firefox is up-to-date: 111.0.1 (64-bit) MacOS Big Sur Version 11.7.4 (iMac)

Should I uninstall Firefox then re-install it? And, if so, will it keep my Bookmarks, Toolbar sites, info, etc? I read some instructions for Windows PC, but couldn't find anything re: a Mac re-install or "Clean Re-Install" for iMacs. Thanks in advance for any help!
