I keep getting "update" messages from Firefox, but when I try to update I get a "corrupt image" message. I suspect I cannot update because I am using Mac OS X 10.3.9 and the update is for 10.4. (I'm currently using Firefox 2/0/0/20.) Is there an update I could use? Or is it time for a new Mac?
A few times a week
I went to Help and was informed to use "Organize Bookmarks". Under the Bookmarks in the Tool Bar there does not appear to be that command.

When I search for something, regardless of the search engine used the results of the search appear in the "active" tab. Is there a way to configure Firefox to automatically open a new tab and show the search results in that new tab? Yes, I can do it manually by opening a new tab, than doing the search, but it would be much more "user friendly" if this would be automatic. I use an Apple Mac Pro running Mac OSX 10.7

Is it possible to open multiple pages at once (like a home button), but allows you to select/ sort under different topics. e.g one click opens all financial tabs, another opens sports, etc
Consider that I want to sort these vairous topics as a way to review all my regular interests individually, without having some many pages open when I click the home button, only to close non relevant pages.
In essence I see it as having 2 or 3 home buttons. Does this exist?
I am running both Firefox 5 & 6 and I can't figure out how to edit bookmarks. What's the secret?
Thanks!
I do not wish to have FireFox as my browser of choice. How do I correct the fact that it is now my browser of choice?

Here's the message: The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again.
I'm using a new Imac and I guess that they're asking to check something (in finder?) but nothing works

I agreed to be a "beta update channel" person a long time ago when I was rarely using Firefox.
Now two things have changed: I am restricted to 5G a month (both up and download). I am switching to Firefox as my default browser.
Someone told me that I need to make sure I disenroll from any apps that relay usage information back to the developers. Because that is one way I can "leak" MB out of my monthly allotment.
Please understand that I am an amateur computer user and this might seem like a ridiculous question.
The bottom line is that I just want the regular version of Firefox, not the beta tester version.

Since updating to Firefox 8 (Firefox 7 on 10.7.2 worked without issues) I can no longer shut down Firefox cleanly.
Firefox must be shut down by using the Force Quit option.
I have also noticed increased hard disk read/write access since upgrading to Firefox 8 and switching between tabs is noticeably slower.
I've tried to update FF since I had Snow Leopard and it just kept spinning and couldn't connect. Now I see that maybe there was a good reason.

A couple weeks ago, for some reason, FF 8.0.1 stopped working on my OS X machine. (I've used 7, and now 9beta as the work around). Since that time I've had a whole list of problems. One issue is that every time I open FF it attempts to open the session that crashed, no matter what I've tried, it won't go away.
This includes deselecting the tabs prior to the restore; allowing the tabs to load, then closing them individually. I follow this with a proper quit from FF.
Everything is current (operating software, FF, etc) so I'm uncertain what's going on...

For the last 2-3 months, Firefox no longer records history. When I click on Show All History, it is blank. This occurs only on my desktop, not my laptop. Both are Macs running OS 10.7.2 and Firefox 8.0.1. I don't remember making any changes to any of the settings or to preferences. It just seems to have happened one day and I have been ignoring but would like to correct it.

I have set my homepage to Google. On my old laptop, right below my toolbars, there would be another line that showed a list of search options: "Web" "Images" "Video" etc. For my work, I use the "images" and "Scholar" options constantly. I got a new laptop, and that line has vanished. It seems simple, but I can't seem to figure out how to get that line or toolbar back. I miss it!
