Is it just me or is it impossible to click on links and stay on the same tab? Or am I now doomed to have 20 tabs open while searching for stuff on ebay, ect? Did firefox just make the forward and back navigation buttons useless because firefox is going to open a new page or tab every time we click on anything?

When ever I start firefox, I receive two lines at the bottom of the home page - the first is a news feed (from Mozilla) and the second is a 'contributors' shout out. I've unchecked all the appropriate boxes in settings, and still no help. I've gone into about:config and ensured they are removed.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hey!
The UK Met Office (UKMO) has a General Aviation (GA) service where they publish weather charts and such: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/services/transport/aviation/regulated/aviation-briefing-service-guidance It's a free service, anyone can create an account.
The login page, however, has a slightly odd way of collecting the username and password: https://logon.metoffice.gov.uk/Login?goto=http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/premium/myservices/
On that page, there are two <form>s, each containing an <input> element, one for the username and one for the password. The login button is just some javascript which fills in a third, hidden form and POSTs it. Once I have logged in and Firefox has offered to save the password for me (I have to tell it my username because the forms confuse this step too), it never manages to complete both forms. It only autocompletes the password.
Is it possible for Firefox to learn how to cope with this form? I suspect convincing UKMO to fix their website is unlikely, and they're probably not the only offender...

Hi! I have the strictest anti-tracking protection enabled and have one question: Firefox prevents cross-site cookies by default, but if I install Firefox Containers, does that mean that those cross-site cookies will be allowed inside that container, even if they're not when browsing outside of any container? My concern is that, if that happened, using Firefox containers would actually diminish privacy instead of increasing it (for example, Facebook would be able to use Instagram cookies because they're in the same container, even though it wouldn't if I hadn't installed Containers). Thanks a lot! Love the Firefox community <3

When I view a WikiSpecies list of file names (e. g., see https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Pentatominae), the instances which have been installed but never used should be in a different (reddish) color. I am attaching an image of a page containing a file named "Abadia" (first one on the left, just under "A") which is unused. I also am attaching an empty "Creating Abadia" which is the result of clicking on "Abadia".
Please tell me how to change the image of an unused, empty file. I recall that there were two different choices SOMEWHERE in the system, "Always" and "Never" I think: One of them forces a system-level color pattern which includes reddish unused items; the other allows the used to program arbitrary displays such as the above (typical example from the dconf editor is 'bg_color: #f0f1f2; selected_bg_color: #023C88', but this editor does not change the appearance of a file instance.

So this issue just started and it's really annoying.
In order to actually see the downloads, I first have to enable the menu bar and then go Tools -> Downloads
Clicking the ↓ button should open a panel of recent downloads but nothing appears when I click on it. Furthermore, the "download complete" notification that this panel provides are no longer present.
The animation for the panel still works though.
Is there a solution to this?

I can't get Firefox to use some custom cursors. Firefox is only recognizing the cursors that came installed with Ubuntu. Any of the cursors I installed will default to DMZ-White, but Firefox is using those cursors that came installed with Ubuntu. I tried defining the default cursor in /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme but did nothing as well. Also I tried with the cursor in /usr/share/icons and in /home/name/.icons and firefox cannot get in any of those.
I don't know if it's something wrong with my cursors or it's some inner thing with Firefox, any one has a guess? Incompatibility or something missing from the cursor?

My problem, using Mint20.2-MATE, with FireFox92, is that FF92 shuts down whenever I minimize FF-i.e., totally down-does NOT appear in taskbar. I know I had the same problem years ago, and it was a simple fix. However, going through the "Help" sections in FF this time was no help. thank you for any suggestions.

I would like to know if the preferences (found in about:config or prefs.js) are explained in detail somewhere For example, what is browser.safebrowsing.provider.google.advisoryURL? What values can it have? Why can't preference entries be deleted (not just given a value of "") by the user? Thank you.

I am running WikiSpecies on Ubuntu Firefox 64-bit v. 98.0.2.
I used to be able to display a collection of unused files with the used ones but showing a red color indicating that the file was unused (because noone had entered anything other than the file name).
Now, however, ALL files in a directory (e. g., see https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Craspedophorus) are shown with the same color, whether they include additional implementation details or not.
Would it be possible for you to restore the "unused" color of empty files? It is bothersome for me to open EVERY file, empty or not, in a directory just to find that most or all of them never have been implemented. Adding a special color -- or other distinctive display -- to unimplemented files would save me a great deal of time.
I am attaching a picture of a typical unimplemented file.
I'm signed in but it keeps asking for a primary password idk what it is.
I don't know, what is going on. Some days ago my firefox worked good. But I've upgraded it, now you can see my problem on my screenshots.
