I need to be able to search Excel and Word Documents and would prefer not to install Google Docs but use a similar feature with Firefox, if it is available

If you liked something you could give it a thumbs up, and if not, a thumbs down so you could focus the search on what you were looking for.

Downloads - I want to open some PDFs/other file types from the internet but not have to save them. I can't figure out how to view them and close them without having to save them first. When I click on a file, the downloads box opens and depending on the setting, it auto saves the file or asks me where to save the file. What if I don't want to save it anywhere, I just want to view it and close it?

How can I name my downloads? I can't find a page that I can change the names from the numbers that are on the downloads when i receive. I want to name them for what they are, so if I need one, I can go to my download file and retrieve it. Secondly...it downloads 2 of each one. I must have hit something wrong the 1st time I downloaded. HELP...I love firefox, but doing the job I do, I get lots of downloads and NEED to name them to keep track of which is which. Thanks you!

I am new to using Firefox. I have been “testing” it as an alternative to using Internet Explorer. Used only as a browser, so far it appears to be a reasonable substitute.
However, I have a couple of questions: 1) It has been suggested by “outsiders” that “FF” has better ‘security’ than “IE”. I know that “IE” provides very timely automatic updates for viruses, etc. as they are identified and “fixed”. Can/does “FF” do the same?
2) However, the “Mail” function of “FF” is VERY UNSATISFACTORY!!! The default (and only?) email address used as the “From” address is the Internet site being browsed by “FF”. “IE” has the capability to use an alternative email address as the “From:” address.
Can “FF” do likewise? If so, HOW?? Can “FF” provide a “From:” entry-line on the mail screen, along with the “To:” and “Subject:” lines, to do that??

I would like to consider using “FF” as a full-time substitute for “IE”; but the above “short-coming” will cause that to be, at best, delayed or completely forgotten!!!
