I have my Linux PC set to sleep (i.e. suspend) after a couple hours of inactivity. This works as expected—except for Firefox. Recently, it seems every time I wake the PC from suspend, Firefox is in a “bad state”: there are many pages that simply won’t load. The most common case is I click on a link to go to a new page, and the current page will clear, and the next page will either not load at all (i.e. nothing but a blank screen), or only a very small portion of the page will load.

It is resolved if I kill Firefox and restart it. But this is very annoying, since I deliberately keep over a dozen tabs open.

I thought maybe this was some bug, but it has persisted for several weeks now, across multiple Firefox version upgrades (currently on version 79.0).

The other thing that may be relevant - I recently changed my home directory to be on an auto-mounted NFS share (rather than on the local disk of the PC). I don’t recall if this errant Firefox behavior started at the exact time as making this home directory change or not.

Thank you for any help or advice!

I've had this problem with Firefox for the past couple of months. A lot of my downloads fail. I'd say about 50% of them. However, the failed downloads will ALWAYS download successfully when I try getting them a second time.

Things I've tried: -Disabling my add-ons one by one -Restarting in safe mode with all add-ons disabled -Uninstalling, wiping all settings, reinstalling, and trying before installing any add-ons

None of this fixed the problem.

I'm at the end of my rope here, because I download files so often for work. This slows me down so much. I really want to keep Firefox but I'm probably going to have to switch to another browser soon. Any help would be appreciated!

After update to Firefox Developer Edition 81.0b2 (64-bit) an issue arises where the browser appears frozen or stalled and requires a reload of page when the above setting is true after printing. This was not the case prior to the update. Currently this is not apparent in Standard Firefox 80.0 (64-bit) with the above setting true.

This is a bad thing for kiosks. I guess this is a bug.

Since updating to version 79 a few weeks ago I get a box coming up when I try to pay for an online purchase with my credit card, telling me to use "at least 17 characters" for the card number, which is impossible, of course. Latest update to version 80 just now has not fixed the problem. Also can't scroll through pictures on my favourite action site, Trade Me. This is malicious, and a darned nuisance.

Hi, i have this issue for several months already: I have FF set as default browser. When I open it with the FF icon in Windows, everything works fine, but when FF is closed and I open a link (for example in another browser), it opens up FF, but in a weird unclickable "frame". Until yesterday the frame was only above my window. When I want to change tabs, I go with the cursor all the way up the window. Normally it's OK - I click there and the tab changes. But when this problem occurs - there is this "dead area" of one or several pixels hight that don't react on clicks. Since today there is an additional frame on the sides of my window - white frame that also is "dead" for clicks. That messes up my workflow with two browsers and my way of inprecise, but comfortable mouse usage.

Hello,

After i upgraded my computer to Windows 10, my keyboard started freezing when using Firefox. Some websites seem to trigger it - my regular banking website always triggers it and I have to use a different browser to access it.

I have tried changing ticking the "Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser" option on security as suggested, but this has not made any difference. I have also disabled add ons except 'H264' as suggested - again no change.

Does anyone have any ideas on how i might fix this please?

Many thanks, Sorcha

I have Excel docs saved in OneDrive that "version" backup files due to being a cloud doc. When I review the version history list and try to open a past version Firefox produces and error popup.

If I copy the link, paste it in the address bar and add the "h" it opens in Excel perfectly.

How can I fix this?

When I startup Firefox the window flashes on screen but will not open. The window is listed under the "Window" menu but cannot be displayed. If I open a new window and then select the old window, I still do not see the old window but it is active in the "Window" menu. When I "close" the old window from the "File" menu I will see a new window in the "Window" menu (close all tabs?), which I assume is the dialogue box and also not visible. If I hit return with the dialogue box active, both the old window and the dialogue box close.

I have done both a Refresh and a Reinstall separately of Firefox with no change in behavior. I have tried restarting Firefox with and without the "restore previous session" selected in preferences with no change in behavior. I am at a loss with where I go from here. My current workaround is fine but a pain and obviously I cannot recover my previous session with this issue. What else can I try to clear this issue?

It really slows down Firefox for me. 10 Processes Are Running In Firefox. And Sucking So Much Of RAM. More Than 1.5 GB Of RAM Out Of 4GB Of RAM. I only have 1 tabs open right now.

Fix This Issue. Firefox Needs To Work On It. Its A Major Issue. Thank You.

This has never been an issue before and I don't really know how to fix it. I've read through this article (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files) and I still don't know how to fix this.

I went down the "change file type settings" route and I didn't see a file called "handlers.json" in my profile folder, so I left it alone. (there was something in there that said JSON but it wasn't specifically called handlers.json so I didn't want to mess with it or change it)

I tried to go into my firefox "Files and Applications" settings and change "Always ask" to "Save files to" and tried some different folders, and it didn't fix the issue, image downloads were still cancelling. I changed it back to "Always ask" and it still didn't fix the issue.

It doesn't appear to be an issue with my firewall/antivirus or something because I checked Windows Defender, Malwarebytes, and Ditdefender and nothing relevant is showing up to solve my problem.

This has never happened before, or has been an issue before, but for some reason since yesterday, every time I "save image as" (I mainly save images off of Twitter) it shows up as "cancelled" automatically from the toolbar icon... It sometimes goes through and downloads once I click said toolbar icon and press the "retry" buttons, but it's incredibly annoying having to do that for EVERY image file i want to save just to get it to download properly. why does it do this?? please help, this is getting a bit frustrating....

other notes: I only save image files into my "Documents" I recently synced dropbox with my documents folder last week and it's been working fine, so I doubt that's where the issue comes from but I could be wrong?? I'm on windows 10, firefox browser The only addons I have enabled are Enhancer for Youtube, Adblocker Ultimate, and Malwarebytes browser gaurd but they have never given me issues before Not sure if that information helps at all but i hope it does

ty for reading

UPDATE: I rebooted FireFox in "safe mode" and it seems that the issue has been solved. Images from twitter and google are being saved to the folder and downloaded properly. I wonder what could've caused the issue in the first place... I wonder if the issue was with my add-ons or my firefox browser settings? Should I just reset my firefox browser settings back to default?

UPDATE 2 (SOLVED): After refreshing firefox and testing some things out, I figured out that the Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension was the culprit of preventing image downloads. I have no idea why. The extension also has no option of preventing this.

I tried asking this about 2 weeks ago but never got an answer. My computer is running Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6, and for the past month and a half there has been a loooooong printer delay in printing anything from the Internet. It takes anywhere from 45 seconds to a minute for a printer dialogue box to appear after I press a Print icon on Amazon, Ebay, PayPal, and anywhere else. Once it appears I can print just fine, but that delay is getting to be tiresome. I've attempted the "Fix Printing Delays" suggestions in the Mozilla Help area, but nothing I do there has any effect. It's definitely a browser issue, because with the exception of PayPal I can print easily if I use Safari, with no delays. I'd switch over to Safari just to save myself the headache, but PayPal won't print mailing labels on Safari now (security issues with Flash, evidently). Anyone know what's going on here?

Thanks

The audio advice on the FIREFOX website didn't work out. I think this is the fault of the update.

I always have to re-click in the address bar a second time or type in a new URL and hit ENTER for Firefox to start loading that page. The issue does not occur when I click on any of my bookmarks in my Bookmark Toolbar upon startup. Just when I type a website into the address bar.

Hola!

Hi everybody

I use Firefox as my main browser and it has a standard Google search bar. Whenever I type something in the search bar there is a 1-7 second delay before the browser starts responding and doing the search. I don't experience the same delay if I directly click on a website link however.

This problem started recently and I am unable to determine exactly why. I have removed all add-ons, plug-ins, started in safe mode and tried refreshing, deleting and reinstalling but nothing seems to get rid of this search response delay.

Please help?
