I was watching Netflix in a single FireFox tab (no new tabs were open), fell asleep, woke up, and there was a new tab open that thanked me for (supposedly) installing this extesnion. I check the Add-ons Manager and it had been installed as an add-on into my FireFox Browser without my knowledge or permission. I live alone, no one was visiting, and my cats aren't -that- savvy! Ha!
There is no excuse for this. Please ban this Jason Savard creep by every means possible, including by his computer's IP address, any smart devices he uses, etc. If you're able to track down his ISP, please report his activities to them, as this kind of activity is illegal and likely against his ISP's policies.
Please also include a reporting system in your Add-ons/Extensions page, or include a "Report Abuse" link on the pages for each extension that FireFox users come up with. I'm not happy about having to "post a question" in order to communicate this problem to you.
PS. I have tried to upload a screen shot of what I saw when I first woke up, however, your image uploading tool is not working. It pretends to upload a file, but even at a high upload speed for my ISP, it can't handle a simple .jpg screen shot (1400 x 900 dpi on a 17" screen). Please fix this issue as well. If you want the screen shot, please email me so I can reply to that email with the .jpg screen shot file. I'm not going to sit here forever waiting for some silly uploading-in-progress icon to never change to "Done" or whatever.

Hi all. Trying to transfer bookmarks from FF 48.0.1 to Safari 9.1.2 -so as to be able to sync with iPad Safari. I've always done this by means of the direct import option from Firefox in Safari but this has stopped working. Nothing happens, not even an error message. Not 100% sure, but I think this started happening after upgrading to FF 48.0.1. No recent Safari upgrades. Thanks for your help.

I try to open a page, but the cursor does not change from pointer to hand when mousing over a link, which makes me suspicious... the suspicion is confirmed if I just click it anyway, as it opens a new window, usually with some phony ad saying I NEED to download some alleged security fix.
I don't have a lot of different security screening products here, but I do have the latest Malwarebytes, and have run it through at least three times in the last two days, the most recent coming through cleanly. The HKCU\Software key in the registry shows a bunch of suspicious keys (all literal strings) I'm not sure should be there:
TM with value "0106" U_DT, "20160615" U_SDT, null string U_TM, "0106" and U_VER, "3.21"
There's nothing out-of-the-ordinary in either the Run or RunOnce keys under ...\Windows\CurrentVersion.
I'll delete the above values and see if it solves anything.

Recently something happen to my whole PC every where every where shit display which I don't want to see. The normal google search taken by some custom google search. Site frequently redirct to manywhere like p0*n and some other site. I am using the firefox from very long don't want to ditch it. So I re install complete. Create a new profile and refresh and reset do all thing which I can do. That cure the Edge and Chrome but Firefox is still effected. Bitdefender and other antivirus failed to find the virus which infected my PC. Please help nothing help me fully. Some help but just for temprary. Need a permanent solution. The monzill is my favourate all my data is sync with the monzilla server and did not want to loose and ditch the best broswer which I have.

When I enter my username and password, I want to open a new protected Firefox instance but it just complains that it can't locate the profile. I am forced to select it to open in the same window. I am on Dell™ XPS™ L502X, Windows 10 64-Bit , and using Mozilla Firefox 48.0.2. In debugging this problem, I tried to verify the profile by using the Profiler and the add-on Open Profile Folder 1.3.3.1. It shows the correct profile folder but Mozilla Firefox 48.0.2 says it can't find the Profile folder, While it is there! The profile.ini is correct. This used to work for me. Thank you, ~sreyes27

Almost every time I am on Facebook and click on Farmville to play that game, the first time I click on to go to my farm, I've been getting the "official-looking" red firefox screen and logo pop up with a gray colored pop up box that says it's an urgent firefox update. I've never clicked on the save button, I alwasy click cancel, close the pop up box, go back to Facebook and click on Farmville again, and everything runs fine, The latest one I encountered says it was a Java script coming from the following link, again it popped up after I logged into Facebook, and clicked on Farmville. I am getting seriously tired of this nonsense.
Four at least the fourth or fifth time a Firefox update has messed with my computers settings and programs. This time update 48.0.2 has disabled my surfing protection extension, HP Simple Pass and Norton Identity Safe, saying that the programs "could not be verified for use with Firefox and has been disabled". Naturally, and one again, this arbitrary action has been taken with no information (or even option) on reversing the blasted change.
On top of that, because of these changes my security programs and a few other startup programs have been blocked from running at startup.
Would somebody please tell me how to reactivate these essential items or, preferably, show Firefox's techies how to create an update that doesn't screw with the users settings?

I reinstalled my windows and had to sign in with my firefox account to sync the files. But I accidentally created a new account with same email address as old one (and probably with same password). I thought the registration would be rejected, but it was done flawlessly and now I cannot seem to access to my old account. Everytime I try to log in with that email address, it directs me to the new account (cannot be really sure but I cannot find any bookmarks or other settings etcs) and now I cannot access to any of my old data. Does this mean my old account is automatically deleted and all my files are gone? If so, is there a way to somehow retrieve the data...?
It is my first time asking a question in a support forum, so if any more information is required please let me know.

Here's the issue:
1) Firefox opens all (OS and iOS) links my frame pages at http://homework.sdmesa.edu/dgergens/chem231L/isomers_of_octane/index.html
This includes opening the thumbnail link "Part 3 - Identifying Chiral Centers (a silent movie, no auido) " in the left navigation margin when the thumbnail is pressed and the MOV will open on the right.
2) However, if the left navigation margin frame is the opened in a new window page ONLY (link provided below) http://homework.sdmesa.edu/dgergens/chem231L/isomers_of_octane/octane_1of1.htm

I am running Firefox on Windows 7. On a number of sites the icon box to the left of the current URL gets an icon that is circular with the cardinal points of a compass like figure. A dialogue box appears emanating from that icon and asks the user if he/she wants to share hs/her location with s0.2mdn.net? I cannot get rid of this and think it is adware.

(I am posting this from an old Windows 7 Computer ( I can't from the Windows 10 one as I can't log in on it - no chance of syncing it).

As has been the case with each new update, I recently updated to Firefox 48.0. Since then, I've noticed the longer I get into a session, the more it starts to freeze. It seems to be using quite a bit more memory than even just the immediate previous version of Firefox. When I have to exit the browser when this becomes unbearable, it usually crashes 30 or so seconds after exiting. I get a plug-in container error. This is now to the point, where it's not even worth it to use the browser.
Anyone else having this problem with the new update? I'm pretty sure I have the system specs to run this, all plug-ins are up to date, all graphic drivers are up-to-date, I've experimented with turning on and off hardware acceleration in the browser to no avail. What problem(s) was/were the update supposed to be fixing?

Long version: This computer also has Google Chrome on it and I'll also get a bad pool hear in Chrome. I did some digging and found out this is a common problem that is caused by USB driver issues so I updated the USB drivers but that didn't solve it. I thought switching browsers would help but It didn't. I do have dump files. This is a Windows 7 -64 bit machine.
