Hi all, I'm having a lot of problems with Firefox crashing pretty often. Sometimes once or twice a day.

I most often see crashes in the middle of a Webex video conference for work. But Firefox sometimes goes down in other situations that I see no pattern in.

This is Ubuntu 20.04, Firefox 102.0. Unfortunately, it's a complex environment to debug.

First, when firefox goes down, it rarely leaves a crash report behind. So I'm not getting any direct evidence as to what is happening. Second, I run with uBlock active and it is very difficult to function in the browser without long enough for the crash to happen. Third, I typically have several hundred tabs open. I have a lot of memory (64G) in my machine, and the machine doesn't act like it's swapping, so I don't think I'm running out of memory.

Any help getting to the bottom of what's going on is welcome.

Today firefox prompted me to "refresh" itself. After doing so, the icon is now blank and won't open saying it's damaged or incomplete. I restarted my mac to see if it might come back, but I continue to get the same error message that firefox is damaged or incomplete.

I downloaded firefox again, but didn't replace the original one on my computer and while it works. I've lost ALL my bookmarks. I waded through ways to get them back but don't believe I ever made a manual copy of my bookmarks.

Is there any way to restore them? I hadn't used a firefox account before either but just made one today.

Struggling with bookmarks

hi, have downloaded installer file several times with Firefox and i end up always needing to download from another browser to get it to work. The installer this specific time is xampp for windows. The download works well, the file goes to the right folder, but when i click on the installer, it leads to a new browser window (see pic1) and no matter what option i choose it never performs the installation. in the pic 2, u can see the applications options. I am really trying to give a shot at firefox but i always end up having to use another browser :-/. Thanks a lot for any help

When I download a file with several "." in name on the save box uses one of the words as extension instead of the real file extension.

Example:

When downloading the file "The.Talk.S12E187.720p.WEB.h264-DiRT.torrent" on the save box appears "The.Talk.S12E187.720p.WEB" with the extension "h264-DiRT" (Pic 1) I have to manualy change the extension type and name (Pic 2)

Tested in other broswers and work correctely.

I have noticed that the googleadservices site address keeps flashing at the bottom of my screen. What can I do to stop this? This has been happening for the last couple of weeks and shows up especially often on facebook. Thanks, Simone

My Firefox browser search engine has been redirected to Searchgoose.com. I have attempted to remove it using the instructions given in Malewarebytes, HitmanPro, and Superantispyware without success. My Firefox settings still show that Google is my default search engine and Searchgoose.com is not listed so I can remove it. Any suggestions on how I can remove searchgoose.com from my Windows 10 PC would be appreciated. The URL is https://www.searchgoose.com/?path=firefox/newtab&u=ea246c3c80cbfda0&subid=11118&channel=19. I've been trying to do some research on this and I've tested a number of results (clearing cache/cookies, running on Safe/Troubleshoot mode) but I'm still getting this error. I have also done a complete reinstall of the Firefox browser

I don't have any issue logging into any of the Google applications (gmail, youtube, drive, etc) on Chrome or Edge on my Windows machine, and I don't have any issues on my Mac running firefox, this issue seems to be specific to my Windows 10 OS on firefox.

It also occasionally works, so it's really confusing trying to debug what's going on (it works randomly if I refresh enough.

I'm not sure if it's related, but Youtube occasionally has issues connecting as well with the following issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would really prefer this to work properly, otherwise I might end up having to switch browsers since it greatly effects a lot of things.

Attachments in Yahoo mail are from todays FF update, not showing and pages for past few weeks have just been hanging? Windows 10, the reply from Yahoo, switch browser. Been using FF for years and really dont want to learn a new system!

moving from pc to mac. all is going great. download and install firefox. sign in and sync. all good. start cleaning up old passwords (no more microsoft email i never used, etc.). then i see a yellow triangle on my icon in the address bar. click. says i'm not logged in. hm. so i log back in.

and all my passwords are gone except for the brand new firefox password i just created. that's it.

thank goodness i had the pc open and was able to immediately make html and csv copies of bookmarks & passwords from it, but firefox had the yellow triangle again. wasn't going to log in that time and lose everything.

my question is this: there is ZERO information on how to import the .csv file into firefox. i can't figure it out. please don't put the same link i've followed five times already before seeing what it looks like now. it's worthless.

so. how do i get my 132 passwords back?

bold texti had to reinstall windows and had trouble remembering my password and had no idea that resetting the password would refresh or wipe clean all my saved tabs and passwords. This is aster-nine to think you browser gave no warning that this would happen.. I need my links, my tabs, password. No I had no other sync's, don't think I ever set a key. I have a subscription to ancestry.com. However, I've noticed several Firefox updates ago that I can no longer write a story and add it to an ancestor's media gallery. When I do, I keep getting this:

Access Denied Error 21

What happened? This request was blocked by security rules.

Your IP: (gives my IP addy) Incident ID: (gives a different incident ID each time I try it and get the error message).

WHAT IS this? And how can I resolve it? I have completely deleted my browser history, cookies, cache, everything and it doesn't make a difference. I'm still getting this message but ONLY in Firefox. Not in other browsers. I use Firefox to do most of my genealogical research, but this may have to change if I can't get it to work with ancestry.com. I've also alerted them to the problem, but so far they haven't come up with a solution, other than to delete cookies/cache/history, which I have done. It can't be my computer or it would do it on all three browsers I have installed - Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. But it doesn't. Only in Firefox. It has to be something in the browser settings. Anyone have a clue?

I used to use EFF's https-everywhere plugin and it used to support wildcard in hostname exception, though I could not add one now.

But that plugin will be at end of maintenance at 2023, so I would like to change to Firefox builtin feature. I tried to add a wildcard in hostname, like *.gov.cn, or *.edu.cn, but when I tried to add it to exception list, the browser prompts invalid hostname. I know wildcard will expose way too many security problems, but I am aware of (most of) them and just want to have it ruled out.

I cannot contact China government or universities to make them deploy HTTPS on their sites, and there are so many sites to add, which means the list will be like an explosion, but if I can add a wildcard, like in the builtin no-proxy setting (.gov.cn applies to all domains end with gov.cn), the list will be neat and simple.

So is there a way to achieve this?

Hi, I've been having a problem with my account for a while now. After I format my computer Mozilla is not working for me even though I have downloaded the latest version. The main problem is that I can't change the language and I can't add an extension. Please help.

Hi, Firefox is my preferred browser. I use icloud mail and now attached PDFs open to only a blank page. The tool buttons don't work. I do not have this problem with gmail or yahoo. Please help. Thanks, Wendy
