I'm using PAC file that returns SOCKS5 proxy, however in my Network Monitor I see actual IP addresses rather than proxified. This is contrary to what Chromium does and it makes no sense. I need to know which requests were successfully proxied.

Is there a ay to enforce it or as usual Firefox is 10 years behind Chrome?

Macbook Air, Sonoma 14.1.2, second monitor connected via hdmi. This oval purple icon showing a person in front of a screen suddenly appeared in and behind upper left hand corner of window, and is now in all my windows. (see attached image)

As the title says: How to make firefox open ANY AND ALL Torrent or Magnet, FROM ANY SITE, without asking for confirmation ?

I Use Mac OS Firefox as my primary client for Gmail, and I always compose emails in a pop-out window. Ever since Firefox 124, these pop-out windows include the tool bar and bookmarks bar, eating up a bunch of space. I do want those bars displayed on my main firefox window, I don't want them displayed on the pop-up Gmail compose windows. Is there anyway to get Firefox revert back to this old behavior?

I use Firefox version 103, the old version that is perfectly compatible with an extension I always use. I love this old version, and I don't want to update it to the new version. But the update reminder pops up many times everyday. it's so annoying. I used "about config" to turn it off (see photo 2); it works a bit, but the popup still there once daily after the configuration. I want to turn it off permanently. Is there any way to do it? I’m currently using Windows 10 Firefox v.124.0.1 and am set to auto update. For some time now I’ve been trying to make use of the option to set homepage as a shortcut folder as described: Settings/Home/Homepage and new windows where one of the options is: ‘Choose a Bookmark to be your Home Page. If you choose a folder, the Bookmarks in that folder will be opened in Tabs.’ You then need to delete the existing homepage and select the desired shortcut folder. This works but after it appears to be a static rather than dynamic selection as regardless of any changes made to the indicated folder, the homepage does not change. Am I doing something wrong or expecting too much. Thanks John

I have the Dark Reader extension, because white screens HURT MY EYES. This is an accessibility issue! ALL of your support pages do not recognize or respond to the dark reader extension, and leave the page backgrounds WHITE! I can barely stand to write this! UGH! Thank you for fixing this!

I'm seeking assistance with disabling the browser contextual menu specifically on SHIFT+Right Click for my webpage. While this functionality is working as intended on other browsers, Firefox seems to be an exception. Is there a recommended approach to achieve this on Firefox? Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

since some Firefox versions the setting "browser.fixup.alternate.suffix" no longer works. I found that all "browser.fixup.alternate" entries do not work anymore. After searching the web I found an answer that the fixup.alternate options don't work when the protocol is https. So, because today nearly all Websites use https, this options are completely without function. In my case I want to add the default TLD ".de" if I do not enter the TLD. Is there any place (except source code, of course) to configure this behavior for https, too?

Hello, I use Firefox as my only browser and I use the shortcuts because they're really helpful. But every time that I lunch Firefox all the pages in the shortcuts "call" their websites, I see it from pihole and all the requests are made every first lunch of Firefox. Probably it's something related to the cache and to give better perfomances in case I wanna select one of those shortcuts, but I don't want that all of them make a "call" to their respective websites. I think it's something related to privacy and freedom about what I want to do with mt browser. Is there an option to block those connections? In case there isn't an option is possible to implement it? Thank you so much

When the system theme (light/dark) is switched globally, Firefox recognizes this and also switches its theme automatically (if configured appropriately). This should also retheme addons opened in the sidebar (Tab Stash or Sidebery for instance), and it does so under certain conditions, namely if either a) no sidebar was opened when starting Firefox and the addon sidebar window is opened directly, or b) the sidebar was opened with start of Firefox. Unfortunately, no retheming of the addon window occurs when some other Firefox sidebar (such as bookmarks or history) was opened after Firefox start and before system theme switch. In that case, the addon window (which is opened as the system theme is switched) does not retheme. This can be mitigated by either restarting Firefox or by opening a Firefox sidebar such as bookmarks or history, and switching back to the addon window.

So to reproduce this behaviour:

1. Open Firefox and some sidebar addon directly (such as Tab Stash in my case, with Ctrl-Alt-S)
2. Switch system theme globally (I do this with Night Theme Switcher in GNOME)
3. Observe that Firefox correctly redraws the addon window
4. Open bookmarks (Ctrl-B) or history (Ctrl-H)
5. Reopen the addon window
6. Switch system theme globally again
7. Observe that Firefox does not correctly redraw the addon window
8. Open bookmarks (Ctrl-B) or history (Ctrl-H) again
9. Reopen the addon window
10. Observe that Firefox redrew the addon window

This has already been reported to the addon developer, who stated that it might be a bug in Firefox, since his addon only tells Firefox which colors to use in which mode.

Hello, so I have been putting my custom links onto the 'top sites' start page in Firefox, by editing the icons and putting the URL, etc. It is a great 'speed dial' type feature I love. One thing has me tearing my hair out after trying all ways to try and fix this to appear to my liking, is the 'custom icon' from the website not showing in the sites I want to 'speed dial' Facebook and YT show up fine, but random sites I want on the page don't do this. I don't care why this is anymore, please don't give lengthily fixes. It's just silly you need a working URL with an icon at the end of it to display this properly. It did make me very mad, can you tell, even madder when I saw it done as it should be in OPERA browser, on their 'top sites', or 'speed dial' customizable home page they have the sensible option there to pick your own icon, you can put in a folder on your desktop if you like, no working URL needed! start a collection of what icons you want to see on your own start page. Can you please implement this 'common sense' modification as soon as possible, it will take only minutes of code writing i'm sure. I do not want to, but I will go to Opera as my main browser for this common sense functionality, good luck and thank you.

We see that Firefox often takes the fallback Proxy. The connection via the Fallback proxy is much slower than the connection via the original proxy. 

My Questions: How does Firefox recognize which Proxy is now active? Is there away to debug the Proxy Selection? Can I give a priority to a Proxy?

Hello, Under about:preferences I went to applications. Under mailto there were references to Yahoo and Gmail which I deleted. Now then when I click on an email address link on a webpage the mailto menu pops up like it always has but Yahoo and Gmail are no longer listed as email options. How do I get those links back? Firefox is listed as the default option but because there are no links to webmail services there is no way to send an email from that menu. Sincerely, MKH

I don't know how you can help. I really really really hate hunting for things that were there in previous years. I do not like full screen lay over that mozilla has taken to doing, if it doesn't stop i will have to remove it. I want to see my tabs, I want mozilla to stop playing with my settings and logging me out when I am idle or on my phone. There are people with the same problem but its all techy talk and i don't understand and its playing with my time to constantly search or resign in. I don't need microsoft anything, hate it, don't use cloud, don't use chrome... so do we have an issue? one more thing... I absolutely hate with a passion of terminator any fucking ai garbage and bots. would sooner smash devices and take out a fire arm to shoot any robots. Hope that makes it clear. I have anxiety issues, so swearing is an issue, get used to it especially if artifical nonsence is involved. I try very hard not to swear at people. Ai is a different matter. I have norton antivirus.

Should I use DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials with Mozilla/Firefox? Would all of the Firefox features work the same or would DuckDuckgo replace Firefox features? If both worked together it would seem to be the best option. I would greatly appreciate some input on this.

Is there a setting to avoid firefox swapping to new tabs, when ctrl-clicking search results in address bar?

Sometimes I want to search on multiple things through the address bar, but usually I search on google instead because every time I ctrl-click to open the searches, firefox automatically switches to that tab which means I have to swap back to the other tab, every time I open a new tab through the address bar.

It's only a problem in the search bar. Bookmarks and links on webpages open in new tabs, without swapping to those tabs.
