My website bucksccc.org.uk, was recently moved to a new host, DNS changed and SSL certificates renewed. The new site works wonderfully on everyones Macs, PCs, Tablets, phones etc all over the globe. But not my Mac. When I type in the URL ALL browsers say the site is insecure and they will not open it. When I look at the SSL certificate that is being rejected, it is the old one from the old host. On my mac I also have Windows 10. The site opens fine on there and the certificate is correct. It is something on my Mac that is obviously causing this. I have refreshed Firefox, rebooted, cleaned cache, flushed DNS cache, etc, etc, but still have not found a fix.

Thanks

Hi everybody, I have been using for years Mozilla and the tabs as a useful productive tool to keep the pages/docs which I was working on, always open and ready to be opened. Every time I closed it, it restored the pages/tabs. Today I opened a second Mozilla session just for 1 page, and I accidentally closed the main one, lately I closed the second one. When I re-opened Mozilla, it restored the one-page second session, and completely lost the tens of tabs and the history I had on the main session.

How can I recover that pages/tabs? Thank you very much

Version: Developer edition 76.0b4 (64-bit) Problems started recently, when FF is started it hangs. It shows 4 process in the Task manager. I have to sort it in the memory utilization way, such that top is the highest memory consumer. Then I kill the last 3 to get it working back. Also the 4 processes of FF do not indicate "not responding" which is strange.

The killing of last 3 ff process and keeping 1 seems to fix the issue but it has to be done manually every time. Not sure what is making the FF hung in first place.

I'm currently using Firefox 76.0b7 and I noticed that Firefox seems do have problems when High Contrast Mode was enabled.

It's simple to reproduce: Windows-Key + L (Windows Lock Screen) At the right bottom corner enable switch on high contrast mode. Than switch off high contrast mode while still in lock screen. Logon again

My Firefox then shows only a blank window, altough it stills is responding. Actually my kid tends to mess with my computer while I'm AFK, this I how I noticed it.

Why is deleting histrory is way harder than anyone thinks?

If you are signed into Firefox, and you have multiple devices, like a desktop PC, a laptop, a raspberry pi, and all of them have Firefox-beta and Firefox-developer-edition, deleting history isn't a child's play, it can hours of work!

For example, A month ago, I deleted the older histories from my laptop. If you delete many histories, Firefox will slowly consume all your system's available RAM unless you kill it, ok fine, probably Firefox is written the inefficient way.

Then I turned on my raspberry Pi. And all my hard-work of deleting history got synced with my laptop. Ok I deleted them again.

Then I turned on my Computer... Oh No! Again it got synced... They say patience is the key to success (here success is deleting histories).

Then I realized that I had a tonne of virtual machines, I use them once a month maybe. Executing Firefox on them would sync them again or so. So I had to put myself in a state of meditation to remind my subconscious mind to remember to delete the ~/.mozilla/ directory whenever I open my virtual machines.

I am a mere human, I might not have patience like the Firefox devs, I can't waste months deleting histories, I have other works to do. So I went to the Firefox sign in page, signed in, disconnected all the devices, removed the ~/.mozilla/ directory, then logged in again, synced, deleted histories, and then slowly I singed in to all the devices.

In Firefox, forgiving your past is not that easy. So what do you think is it a child's play to delete your histories?

"God never said that the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile."

I am not a god, but a mere human. God may have the patience to change Firefox theme of his laptop, sync his other computer, and change both of his computer's theme to the "default" one. He might then change both of his computer's and laptop's themes, and turn on his raspberry pi, and all the three computers now has the "default" theme.

These things were like this for ages. I think I am wrong thinking sync shouldn't work this way. Say in google, when you type something, it's saved to your search history, you remove it from one device, then it's gone from all the devices. But maybe Firefox devs think sync is merely syncing all the devices together.

There should be a timestamp in sync. When you change one theme in the future, you should change it for all the devices. You shouldn't change your laptop's theme to the desktop ones again because simply it should override the theme on the Firefox server.

"Tis strange - but true; for truth is always strange; Stranger than fiction"

Yes, yes, reality is strange, changing a thing in Firefox in future syncs all the works from the past. It's messes up everything, the data isn't updated to the server, rather I don't know what kind of convoluted thing it does to perplex mere humans.

What do you think? Should sync mess up with all the devices?

Hello,

This has been a problem every since the Firefox Quantum update, but I never asked about it. My issue basically is that when I wake my iMac from sleep, Firefox decided to use 400% of my CPU (each core = 100%), and the Mac becomes unresponsive from a second to a few minutes at worst. Generally, the longer my computer is in sleep mode for, the longer it takes for the Firefox CPU usage to die down.

Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks!

At least as recently as Developer Edition 77.0b5. Neither the keyboard shortcut nor the UI "x" button closes the mode. This is developer edition 77.0b5 on MacOS 10.14.6. For a handful of beta versions it seems inconsistent (sometimes worked sometimes didn't work) but now it seems like this happens every time. I'm not sure when I first noticed the issue.

Reinstalling the Firefox application in the macOS way (move Firefox.app from the application folder into trash and move a current (non Beta Version of) Firefox into the application folder) does not work. Firefox somehow remembers that the Beta Channel is active. It will update to the recent Beta on startup/restart.

I did not try to remove all files created by Firefox, as I do not want to loose my current profile.

While there seems to be documentation about working with multiple versions of Firefox or how to work with multiple profiles: I am not interested in installing multiple versions of Firefox simultaneously or work with multiple profiles.

I simply want to replace my Firefox Beta with the current release... (There may be a problem with profiles being not compatible with an older version of Firefox. However, I feel like it should be possible to stay on the Beta (without updating) until a newer version releases in the release channel to avoid this issue.)

There does not seem to be any documentation on how to unenroll from the Firefox Beta on macOS. (I googled / used duckduckgo a lot (I searched for a solution every now and then over the time span of multiple months) and nothing relevant turned up.)

PS: Good job on Firefox for macOS; it replaced safari (which had deprecated a lot of addons at that time) as soon as the beta with improved (macOS) battery life released (the reason why I installed a beta version.)

This is a new development. Happening on all of my Mac OSX machines. Whenever I download a file from Firefox, the downloaded file now has write permissions set for group and other:

-rw-rw-rw-

instead of the more reasonable read-only permissions for group and other:

-rw-r--r--

This is a new development: all of my downloads started displaying these fully writable permissions about a month ago. Happening on multiple computers, so this is tied to Firefox v77.

hi! I'm currently following a course on react developement and i'm running into an issue specifically on firefox, both normal and developer edition( normal version 76.0.1, dev version 77.0b7).

I'm using axios to fetch weather data from weatherstack, which only offers http requests to free users, using the following line: axios.get(`http://api.weatherstack.com/[...]')

the first time during runtime, when i am fetching data, the request is using protocol http/1.1, which works fine. Any further requests start using http/2 however, which results in weatherstack sending back an error message saying "Access Restricted - Your current Subscription Plan does not support HTTPS Encryption." ( but with http status 200, which is kinda weird in itself).

looking into axios, (specifically how axios.get() works) it seems they are letting the browser decide on how to handle the request, so i came here.

This works fine on chrome(Version 83.0.4103.61), sending all requests via http/1.1

now my questions am i correct in assuming this is a security feature doing this? if so, why is it not doing it on the first request? how would i go about getting this to work or should i use a different api that accepts https if i want this to work on firefox?

thanks in advance!

edit: on further investigation, this behaviour is confined within a tab, so even if you reload the site, it still uses http/2. if you open the site in a new tab, the first request works and further requests do not.

I'm running CentOS 7.8 at work and I prefer to use Firefox. However, the problem is that with CentOS, and being a work machine, Firefox doesn't normally come with codecs needed to play many online videos (such as on twitter) and my company won't install them. Having said that, the recent flatpak version of Firefox seems to have them bundled, so I installed that in user space.

It's great, except whenever I need to save a file I run into a problem. I've tried this in both KDE (4.14.8) and MATE. When the file dialog opens to save the file it doesn't have a save button, but an "Open" button instead. When I click the open button, with the default filename filled in that I'm trying to download, I get a kernel error pop up that says: "A problem has been reported in the xdg-desktop-portal-1.0.2-1.el7 package has been reported." I cant' investigate more because it wants root/sudo access to fully read the message. This happens every time I try to save anything, it's not intermittent, I'm unable to download anything. It didn't happen in the beginning, it just started a few weeks ago.
